jesus no wonder arlovski chose to go to affliction i would take a 3 minute beating for a mill and a half…

no way ufc was gunna pay him that and even if affliction folds andrei can always go back to the ufc he made a smart decision to come back some quick coin.

i know affliction has a lot of rich people backing them but dang they are payin there fighters some bank like barnette 500,000

and lindland 225,000 for gettin his ass handed to him in under a minute

    crazy stuff…

Fedor must get a cut of ppv revenues or have some sort of stake in Affliction. 300 thousand doesn't seem right considering the other payouts.

This is why they will fold. Trump and Oscar are not going to keep dropping cash into this if it keeps losing money.

If the PPV buys come back poor, along with the reported struggle to sell tickets i cant see this promotion lasting very long. Of course we all think this is the pay that fighters deserve but not when an upstart promotion pays out this much.

Fedor will get the majority share in PPV buys, it was the same against Sylvia.

Arlovski made a great decision in going to Affliction for more money he didn't even make a third of that working for the UFC.

Affliction paid out 3.3 mil in fighter pay and they have to fork out marketing and overhead pay…looks like this card costed them about 5-7 mil at least to put on and i unless they make 6-8mil for this card they will not be around long at all as they will not keep putting on losing shows and wasting millions of dollors. I hear the place was empty and that paperview buys were poor.

didnt get a chance to watch it but I heard it was pretty good. HOWEVER I am not sure that they can afford to be paying 1.5 million to AA. as well quite a bit more than many fighters are "worth" to fight. You mean to tell me that Josh Barnett should make twice as much as Andersen Silva a fight? hmmmm. They are throwing this money out there to lure fighters away from the ufc and it may very well be the end of them. I havetn seen the numbers but I also heard the arena was not close to full. They should start spending a little more money on marketing and a little less on the talent until they get a religious following like the ufc has. I hate dana White but they guy knows what hes doing on the business side.

wrong the place was packed there where some open seats but there was over 13,000 people there.the ufc lost money for a long time before they turned it around this is only there second show and the improved so much and with all the talk people will start to watch hopefully they can hold in there and i hope the ppv did well

Exactly as i was saying the UFC/Dana know how to market and run a business…however they also started out in the whole but i just dont see how affliction can keep paying their fighters this much and survive until they become half or eve a thrid of the size of the UFC. Best of luck to them.

The MMA world owes the UFC and Dana the respect for putting out the fight and money to get the licensing going in all those states and Countries, if it were not for them who knows where or if there would be a growing attraction to MMA period they are undoubtingly the god fathers of MMA promotions per say. I hope for the MMA world that Affliction survives but they honestly can not keep paying their fighters this money and sruvive for long before someone pulls the plug.

As long as they keep putting on great shows like this one they will be fine. 3 ppvs a year sounds about right for the stable of fighters they currently have. As long as the numbers are trending the right way the money will continue to roll in from their investors. I for one like to see fighters get paid a fair amount for the efforts and risk they take in ENTERTAINING us and ENRICHING guys like dana white. All I care about is seeing great fights and knowing these great warriors are fairly compensated for their work. If you let the UFC dictate pay, you have created monopoly that is unhealthy for the sport. Just let the market determine the fighter payouts. If Affliction folds so be it. If they succeed then dana and zuffa will be forced to pay their fighters equitably. It's put up or shut up.

I hope they stay open too if i have to watch affliction to see fedor fight i will but like many have said I just dont see how they can pay some of these guys these huge amounts.

I ordered the fights, and they were all good fights. Tom #5 comm. AA was wiinniinng the fight but he made a mistake and did'nt remember fedor's over hand right! POW! LIGHTS OUT! Kissing canvas. I would like to see/ pay for the re-match. AA laid the foundation to beat Fedor only true fans/fighters will understand this comment. Leg kicks/body and a little boxing, straight jab double up on the right hand followed up by an left upper cut, Then a Super Man Punch!!!! NOT A KNEE !!!! AA the PitBull!!!!!!! Belfort looks real good @185/88 pounds. Babalu look good so did Josh B., Shit even the head hunter Paul B. look real good beat the shit out of Baby Fedor! lol, lol. I say let them get paid if they are going to entertain you and I like this. They earned IT!.

good post dwayne, the only problem with the foundation you say aa laid out is who can do it?who has the striking of aa plus a chin that can take a punch from fedor, and remember it was only 3 minutes into the fight who knows what would have happened either way.

Or Mark Alstin or olstin i spelled his name ,but he from pride 205 pounder. He is fighting from Dream at heavy wieght now and he looks real good.

    M. allstein or alsteen???

  22. dwayne-dwayne dookie

    January 27, 2009 at 4:46 am

alistin oversteen? never mind he signed with the UFC.

  23. roy

    January 27, 2009 at 5:57 am

allister looks good but he has been knocked out by lesser men at 205 so his chin is very questionable, and he still needs to fight a few top hw's to see wheres he is at.

  24. Patrick89

    January 27, 2009 at 6:07 am

Alistair Overeem you mean? Possibly thinking of signing with the UFC, I don't think anything is official. But yeah, if that's what you mean I would like to see that fight. He looks good at heavyweight but has been KO'd like 4 times and TKO'd twice in his career so I don't think he would be able to hold up to Fedor's punching power. Still would like to see the fight, anything could happen.

  25. Patrick89

    January 27, 2009 at 6:09 am

I agree with roy though, let him fight some other top guys and see how he does.

  26. dwayne-dwayne dookie

    January 28, 2009 at 5:00 am

BUT alister overeem was always having trouble making 205 now he does have that problem he fights with more power and stamina no dehyd, weight loss troubles.and he pick up more on the ground game. I like to see AA fight him again I bet u he won't be doing no jumping knees into a over hand right moves. Or after Josh B. let the winner out of G."The Hurricane"Yvel vs AA "The Pit Bull"get a shot at FEDOR! MORE fights AFFlictionnzzz.

  27. roy

    January 28, 2009 at 5:29 am

yeah but the move to hw does nothing for his chin but he does look real good lately.

  28. Jez

    January 31, 2009 at 9:05 am

andrei arlovski got paid way too much for this fight. Sure he looked good but they were still feeling each other out. You can say AA was getting the better of the stand up exchanges but then again getting KTFO kinda cancels it out. even that dumbass 300 beard doesn't add any strength to his chin
