Alistair Overeem “[Cro Cop] doesn’t want to fight me”

Alistair Overeem:

“Like I’ve always said, he [Mirko Cro Cop] doesn’t want to fight me,”

“CroCop faked his injuries in our previous fight and now he has chosen not to fight me and instead fight Choi. He knows very well he doesn’t stand a chance against me.”

“I would love to have a rematch but I seriously doubt if he will ever accept. For me he is not a objective anymore … His fighting career is one step away from being finished.”

Alistair Overeem seems a little upset about yesterdays news that Mirko Cro Cop will be Fighting Hong Man Choi at Fields K-1 Dynamite on NYE. The two fought at DREAM 6, but the fight was fulled a No Contest after Overeem Kneed Cro Cop in the groin.

“I pounded him, I cut him up on the left and right eye, I fatigued him with the knees and he didn’t hit me once.”

crocop has a fear of failure. he could have done well in the UFC's current HW division. but no, he was mediocre at best. he needs to stop ducking overeem.

CroCop wears those shorts because he has no balls. Pathetic.

Maybe he just decided he'd rather do a kickboxing match instead? like hes going to do? If I fought some guy and he kneed me in the nuts a bunch of times so hard that they went inside me, I'd be thinking about fighting someone else too if the money wasn't right.

Im not sure what happenned to Mirko too. What gets me most is, it wasn't hype when he came to the UFC, all the attention on him was because of his awesome reputation as the best striker in MMA. And its not like he was stepping up in competition because we all know PRIDE had the best heavyweights.

I was at the show when he fought Gonzaga and the buzz around the arena when Cro Cop came out was special, everyone there thought they were gonna see something amazing (which we did, just not what we were expecting). I also saw his fight with Congo in London, and thats where i thought he'd lost that spark that he had in PRIDE.

People say it was the cage that Mirko struggled with, Although that does not explain the weak performances in DREAM.

Maybe he should cut to 205, he is not a huge heavyweight anyway and would probably fit well in Affliction or maybe back in the UFC but this time at light heavyweight.

ya i think 205 he could finally bully soem people instead fo getting over powered and also i think he needs to get a better training camp. im sorry but even goran said he needs to move to tjhe state because croatia is horrible for training. theres just not enough quality people to spar with especially in grappling.

Mirko got exposed for not having any heart and got his will broken by Fedor. He hasn't been the same since.

He's caught up in all the hype around his devastating kicks. He forgot that his boxing skills are what kept him at a distance to throw those kicks. He used to be able to jab and throw straight lefts to help set up his kicks. Now he just stands there like all he's got is one shot to win and thats by head kick. Just being a half assed striker with a lot of power isn't too hard to game plan for anymore . Just ask chuck Liddell how being one dimensional has helped him in his last few fights.

Why would Cro Cop fight Overeem again? He knows he would lose and if your not confident in your ability to beat somebody then your not gonna beat them. Crocop lost his edge and he wont be getting it back. He will still go down as one of the best MMA fighters of all time.

i don't think his loss to fedor had anything to do with it, he went on to win the grand prix and other tough fights after that, as a matter of fact at the grand pri he looked his best he look unbeatable in that event i don't think he would have lost to anyone.i think he made it to the top in k-1 and was trying to in mma and after that tournement he felt he reached the top and lost motovation and has not been able to get it back.

i think the headkick from gonzaga is what started his downfall imo

Thats true sometimes fighters don't come back the same after being viciously knocked out. Especially if they are the type that thinks they can't get KO'd. I don't remember any clips but did CroCop ever get KO'd in Pride?

Hasnt the whole headkick is what made him lose his edge speech already been said by about everybody. Its not o much he lost his edge as the ppl facing him are not scared anymore. Just like Iceman.

Cro Cop got knocked out by Kevin Randleman in the 1st Round of the Pride HW Tournament back in 2005… So although the Gonzaga head kick must have affected him,… I'm not sure how much!

I think he falls into the same bracket as Tito, Hughes & Chuck… Although they WERE great they are being left behind as the sport is moving on… it happened to the likes of Royce Gracie and Shamrock at the being of the sport… and now it has become big business – Training regimes have improved and the competitors are just better overall than ever before…

Cro Cop never really had any game other than great kicks… right now thats just not enough to compete!

He was awesome back in Pride… but he's Done now!

I agree with you DanP. CroCop has some great kicks but that is it. The sport of MMA is constantly evolving. Fighters are getting better and better. I dont think that Hughes or liddel will ever regain their title belts

Thats a big prediction TongPo you really went out on limb with that one. NOT. Heres one. I dont think Brandon Vera will ever become the LHW and HW champ. Damn is it hard to state obvious things.

i am not saying the gonzaga ko did have anything to do with it but cro cop had been ko'ed plenty of time before that.remember he was from k-1 those guys fight the top guys over and over again and usually trade ko's one fight he wins by ko the next one the guy ko's him.i remember seeing him get ko'ed by michael mcdonald who is probally 185.
