Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers Announced For June 6th Strikeforce

Strikeforce has announced, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski will take on Brett “The Grim” Rogers at Strikeforce’s June 6th show in St. Louis.

The announcement was made earlier today at a press conference for Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields” show in St. Louis.

Arlovski (15-6), will look to get back to action after getting knocked out by pound-for-pound heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko at the Affliction 2 card early this year.

Rogers (9-0) gained notoriety for his impressive wins in EliteXC and for calling out Kimbo Slice at the EliteXC “Primetime” press conference last year. This fight will certainly test Rogers, who has not fought a top 10 contender thus far in his MMA career.

Rogers has beat nobody plain and simple so im not exactly sold on him. i think he's good but i dont think he will take arlovski. its too huge of a step for him right now. they should ahve given him ben rothwell or something.

    Arlovski KO rnd 2

i agree dane, rogers knocking out james 'glass jaw' thompson doesn't exactly impress too much. but i think this could be a good fight but arlovski should take it.

probably the ONLY, but most important, weakness in AA's game is his GLASS JAW. it's so sad when a fighter is so talented, but has a weak chin. on the ground, AA would rock. but i am confident that both fighters will keep this standing. i am not impressed with rogers, but more impressed with him than i am with kimbo. i am still rooting for AA. if rogers wins, watch him get the title shot against FEDOR!!!

Yeah its sad but AA does kind of have a glass jaw. Even though it was Fedor that Ko'd him I think it's suspect now. I still think he will be too much for Rogers in this matchup.

ya cuz nobody else has been knocked out by fedor lol. jk but seriously getting knocked out by the people arlovski has been knocked out doesnt really mean he has a glass jaw. just not an iron one.

Only way Rogers is pulling this off is if he has supreme power in his hands that I havent really noticed. AA is gonna wreck him with his technique. Arlovskis chin might not be rock solid but he can avoid being hit flush and I think he can outclass Rogers pretty easy. Dont get me wrong though I want to see this fight. A badass stand up war is what you can expect from these two.

AA should win but Rogers is a very good fighter, For sure AA is his hardest test but Roger has never been stopped and Knocks out all of his guys really fast i think he has only been out of the first round a couple times..

AA chin is what makes this a hard fight to call if you ask me..

Glad to see AA back in action after his painful defeat against Fedor. We'll see how that last fight effected him, but I have a feeling he'll be back to the form that gave most the idea he was the next best Heavy in the world.

Even thought I think anyone would have been KO'ed by Fedor's right to the jaw that night, those kinds of punches tend to raise the likelyhood of it happening again. We'll see!

I want to see AA vs Fedor so bad.. We all know AA way taking it to Fador..AA stopped the takedown and Was landing Harder and more punches then Fador did, Fador just got the one Lucky overhand and knock AA out , AA was about to knock Fador out but just got Cought

i agree with dane aa might not have a granite chin but its not a glass jaw either, i saw him take some big shots from rothwell and keep going.and come on tom aa was about to ko fedor? i dout it and fedor really never tried taking it to the ground and there was nothing lucky about that punch.aa was doing good though.

Actually AA tried to take Fedor down but Fedor stuffed it. AA was the better technical striker scoring points with punches and kicks. This isn't K1. Fedor cleaned his clock with speed and power and there was nothing lucky about it. AA is a very good fighter and will most certainly beat rogers. I would look to see AA test rogers chin instead of the other way around. Rogers hasn't faced anyone like AA. I'm not sure Rogers has the technique and skill to land power punches on AA without AA catching him first.

AA was doing great against Fedor. i mean good footwork utilizing his jab keeping his range. Arlovski made a mistake and got overconfident. If he kept his composure he could have wore out fedor. But I do agree his chin is shit!

Dane.. When Jesus rises from the dead for a comeback and Fedor armbars him at 2:12 of the first round in the finals of a tournament match were he beat Joe Louis, Hulk Hogan, Rikki Lake, Ghandi and Godzilla in one night blindfolded with one arm tied to his leg in Valhalla. Can't wait till the tickets go on sale. Fedor=Respect. He doesn't need it given to him by anyone.

Fedor is not going lose. It is OK if you dislike someone… I never liked Matt Hughes, even when he was on beating the crap out of everyone in the division but nonetheless, I was able to put that aside and admit he was a bad ass. The same thing here. Fedor has beat everyone (except for 1 loss that should not have been a loss but a DQ) and a lot of people don't give him credit. Sure he has been given some tomato cans but so has everyone else. He has also beat the best of the best including 4 former UFC Champs AA, Tim, Nog, Coleman. only 6 of his 30 wins were by decision – he ends fights by knockout or submission. If you don't like hime, cool…but facts are facts. if were to ever sign with the UFC, he would wipe out the division…Kongo, Mir, Lesnar, Cain…they would all lose.
