Brett Rogers Releases Statement On Kimbo Slice and EliteXC

The guys over at Team Bison in Minnesota have been known for releasing open letters to the media. In their latest edition, they focus on Brett “The Grim” Rogers (8-0) and their disappointment in EliteXC for skipping Rogers to promote Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock at EliteXC on CBS 3.

Here’s the statement:

On behalf of Brett Rogers and the Team Bison Camp –

We are getting a lot of requests for interviews concerning the recently announced Shamrock vs. Slice match up. I believe many people are looking for us to be upset and join the pig pile on EliteXC. Well, people have to keep on looking.

Brett has two words tattooed on his arms: one is success and the other is patience. We of course would like to fight Kimbo here and now. We would like to fight him today. We would love to fight a legend like Shamrock as well. We would also like to fight for the title. There is no doubt we will get to do all three; we just need to have patience and then we will have success.

As for Elite — this is our home. We are excited to be part of Elite, CBS and Showtime. We are proud to be part of one of fastest-growing and best backed promotions in the world. We are proud to be part of a show that treats their fighters with love and respect and is not afraid to let their fighters compete outside the boundaries. Elite is also not afraid to give fighters the opportunity to develop and grow as athletes and entertainers. Elite has a growing network of mid-level and developmental shows that are bringing up true up-and-coming talent that will provide the bedrock of the sport for a long time to come.

I know a lot of people want to dog on Elite; but these same people would have an MMA world where no more then a dozen guys were making a living wage. People who think the real world should run just like it does on their PlayStation. But this is a complicated, difficult business for every side of the equation. For the fighters, promoters and everyone else involved. As a camp we have to negotiate, posture, bully, push, plead to get our share of the love. But at the end of the day we are Elite.

As for Oct 4th; that was our spot. Shamrock with his name and giant ego butted in line to get a slice of Kevin. At 103 years of age Ken usurped our rightful place against the YouTube champ. Our sincerest hope is that Ken whips Kimbo and then we can finally euthanize the “World’s Most Dangerous Man” and relegate him to some MMA dinosaur exhibit. Maybe taxidermy him and Severn and place them on a rotating pedestal where they can endless circle each other.

If Ken proves to be more sham then rock and Fergi beats him, then the Slice hype grows even greater. Dude is already more myth then Sasquatch, Chupacabra and a fucking unicorn combined. Kevin is the black Yeti.

Caught between a Shamrock and a hard place, Kevin has chosen the old over the new; the past over the future. But Fergi… the hard place is coming. By putting us off, making us wait will only make matters worse. There is nothing business about it anymore. Kimbo made it a point to go frontin’ to our boys at Big Black. But that street thug B.S. might work well with the fan bois and the Internet dorks who think your street cred means something; but Son… Brett comes from Cabrini Green; the worst 12 blocks of America. Compared to that your street is Sesame Street. So you can say it is very personal between Brett and Fergi. So go ahead and make us wait while you fight Tank and Shamrock. Hell, why not fight Hackney, Harold Howard, Fred Ettish and the rest of Jurassic MMA? And while your shuckin’ and duckin’ we will be hustlin’ and muscilin’ and when the bell finally tolls the only real question left is … do you wake up looking at canvas or arena lights?

Not bad. Not too whiny with an ample amount of trash talk. I'll give it a solid B+

I think it's great! Well-written…not overly arrogant. And it'll get under Kimbo's skin!

I was at that press conference. The tension in the room was ridiculous. This is a fight I'm actually looking forward to.

They should put Brett in a Number 1 contenders match… (or a championship bout for the vacant title)

and leave Kimbo out of the title picture (you heard Brett, the guy is from sesame street) and let him keep doing these crazy matches

Of course Kimbo would probably main event over the title fights but everyone loves sesame street, I particular enjoy the vampire character

Why the hell is he so hung up on kimbo? It's pretty obvious he could beat him. Why doesn't he focus on something that will give him some more long term credibility like fighting for a belt and then challenge kimbo.

damn. That was kind of awesome. I don't know though Nichole, I'm not sure if it will get under Kimbo's skin. I heard he can't read. Maybe it depends on how someone reads it to him. I heard that the guy that reads for him lives in his dirty beard and eats dogs and cats.

I like it!!! Way to go Brett. I don't blame him for being pissed. He talks nicely about Elite because he does not want to upset them but they don't give him a title shot and don't let him kick the shit out of Kimbo…the man is pissed! I thought that Elite promised him a shot at Kimbo on this coming show after the CBS I show? So why don't they deliver? Because they can't have Kimbo lose…the same reason they don't come down on Gina for not making weight…Elite is a joke. After Kimbo whips Ken, I don't know that he will be able to duck Brett any longer. What other HWs does Elite have? The same goes for Gina…if she is able to duck Cyborg on her naext match, it is inevetable (sp?) that they fight the following match. There has to be a lot of sweating going on in the Elite HQ because their Kimbo and Gina marketing is about to take a hit!!!

I guess with those big tatoos he doesn't have to remember to be "patient" and "successful". I think I'll do the same thing and get "brush your teeth" and "wipe your ass" on my arms.

If Rogers wasn't on contract he would have a lot of shit to say about Elite. They pass up his fight to bring in a winnable name for Kimbo. I think I would have a lot to say about that.

I was looking forward to seeing Kimbo fight Rogers. But i knew all along if they could find a bigger named fighter to put him against they would scrap the fight.

Rogers is a brilliant heavyweight who will become a huge star if he keeps improving the way he has been. People know Shamrock for what he did in the past but if anyone is taking notice of the present he has not won a significant fight since the '90's.

Its just more proof that Kimbo is been spoon fed these fighters, I hope Ken wins but i doubt he will.

why does'nt rodgers just sign with the UFC or Affliction – fight some good opposition and get some credibility… if he's any good then he'll get a title shot…

He's just sat on his Ass winging about Kimbo all the time -I'm not interested… he should DO something about it!

I agree, Dana would be a fool to not jump all over Rogers when his contract is up. I would love to watch him with some good heavyweights like Gabriel Gonzaga, Frank Mir and so on. I really hope Dana White wises up and grabs this big talented fighter.
