The UFC’s biggest sponsor Anheuser-Busch (Bud Light) puts the Ultimate Fighting Championships on notice for culturally insensitive fighter comments.

Adage has the scoop:

“We’ve communicated to the UFC our displeasure with certain remarks made by some of its fighters, and they have promised to address this. If the incidents continue, we will act,” the brewer said in a statement. A-B, which did not elaborate on potential actions, also stated that it “embraces diversity and does not condone insensitive and derogatory comments rooted in ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, etc.”

The UFC responds to the warning,

“With over 425 athletes on our roster, there have unfortunately been instances where a couple athletes have made insensitive or inappropriate comments. We don’t condone this behavior, and in no way is it reflective of the company or its values.”

The article cites the incidents:

  • Quinton “Rampage” Jackson urges a Japanese fan to say “I’m a fag.”
  • Rashad Evans to Phil Davis “I’m going to put those hands on you worse than that dude did them other kids at Penn State,” Jerry Sandusky reference.
  • Joe Rogan calling Yahoo Sports Maggie Hendricks a cunt, after she called out Rampage for getting “horny” with Karen Bryant.

The UFC has broken into the mainstream with it deal with FOX and it will have to align it self with mainstream “values”.

What do you think, should the UFC take more responsibility for what its fighters are saying outside of the Octagon?

You can't control what everyone says!! And we don't all have to be politically correct. Nobody has any problem with people calling bikers dirt bags. But you can't call a fag a fag?

Rogan defended his use of the word cunt on his latest podcast. Big company problems:x Bud Light off all corps calling out the UFC on decency. They have had more titty commercials on TV then anyone else in the history of the WORLD.

Also, it makes me :( knowing that the UFC will someday be like the NFL with lawyer type dudes explaining the over complex rules. No Rogan calling out Yama-shity for ruining a fight, Goldie will have to have his notes per-approved by the legal department and Buffer will have a trademark symbol shaved into his head when he attempts the Buffer 360.

The dictator has sold his soul to fox all for the mighty benjamin. Anyone that did not see this coming is not living in the real world. So folks get ready for a whole bunch of bleeps. And guess what the dictator will conform by handing out fines for unsavory language that offends the miller brewing company. Yup folks the UFC is about to be sanitized all for the sake of a buck.
