as good as a.silva is i would put fedor and gsp ahead of him right now.i got to give credit to gsp almost everyone of his fights is against a top ww and he dominates them all where silva's been fighting some mid level guys lately.

  2. David

    February 2, 2009 at 5:42 am

yeah you can argue for any of the top 3 to be p4p, we will just have to wait but I dont get how Rashad is the best LHW in front of Machida but Machida is in front of him in the p4p? I would think that Rashad should be ahead of Machida but anyway I cant wait to see how it all pans out

  3. tom

    February 2, 2009 at 5:52 am

Thiago Alves wtf Alves is not in the 10 ten pound of pound best…He has no ground game..Ken flo should be number 10

  4. Eric

    February 2, 2009 at 5:52 am

Good point David. It's because Rashad is the champ in that division. It's hard to say who is #1 p4p because all three of those guys have pretty much dominated their weight class, and others. Gsp is really solid and until this fight his major criticism was that he didn't perform in big fights…like Hughes 1 or Serra. But I think this was the biggest fight of his career and he smashed that criticism.

  5. tom

    February 2, 2009 at 5:54 am

swick or Davis should fight karo..GSP is 2 and anderson is 1 then fedor 3

  6. roy

    February 2, 2009 at 6:16 am

i think the ww devision is tuffer and a silva has fought cote irvin and now leites his last 3 fights gsp will have fought fitch bj and alves seem like alot tougher fights and he dominated fitch and bj.

  7. roy

    February 2, 2009 at 6:18 am

    if where talking whole career

    1 fedor

    2 gsp

    3 a silva

    if where talking current fights

    1 gsp

    2 fedor

    3 a. silva

  8. Trey

    February 2, 2009 at 6:27 am

Arlovski ahead of Mir & Lesnar, someone is a UFC hater!

  9. Tim

    February 2, 2009 at 6:34 am

AA deserves to be ahead as he is the better fighter than Mir and Lesnar.

  10. roy

    February 2, 2009 at 6:39 am

i agree aa is way better than mir imo mir should barely make the list because he would lose to most of the fighters on it, lesnar may be better but just needs more fights to show it.

  11. Tim

    February 2, 2009 at 6:49 am

Exactly….now hopefully we dont eat our words when Mir and Lesnar meet.

  12. crynot

    February 2, 2009 at 8:26 am

Carlos Condit at number Seven for Middleweight??? I think that will change very soon once he steps into the UFC.

  13. chris

    February 2, 2009 at 8:39 am

Lesnar has to beat a few more higher caliber fighters to even be mentioned with Fedor like Barnet, Overeem, Gonzaga, Mark Hunt, and Congo. If he could pull off winning 3 of those fights maybe his name could be mentioned then but he has not even passed Frank Mir yet.

  14. Tim

    February 2, 2009 at 9:05 am

Wether you choose to agree or not Lesnar has beaten heath Herring a top15 HWGHT and Randy Couture top 10 if not top 5 so he dserves to be in the top 10 for sure…now i agree he must beat Mir and than keep winning but the man only has 3 yrs in the sport in another 3 years lets see where he is win or lose.

  15. steve

    February 2, 2009 at 10:57 am

Lesnar beating Couture doesnt mean all that much imo. like u said Tim he was way bigger stronger and younger. Randy is going downhill fat. Just imagine if he loses his next fight. Herring has had some very poor performances in the past. I think Condit deserves to be #7. He is good. I could see AA KOing a lot of the guys on the list and i think he deserves to be there after he put up a good fight against fedor. The thing that bugs me is that Liddell is above Shogun and jardine at 6. Jardine is 2-2 in his last 4 fights. He has won both of those by split decision and when he has lost it has benn by KO. So I think u drop him to #7. Drop chuck to #10 b/c he is 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Shogun has went 4-1 in his last 5 fights as he beat A. Overeem, nakamura, kevin randleman, Cyrille Diabate and mark coleman. and even though he didnt look very good in his lat 2 fights losing to just Forrest Griffin isnt a bad loss. In all fairness think about this when Nog beat Sylvia even though he didnt look good in it at all he won and went up in rankings. just saying…

  16. dane drebin

    February 2, 2009 at 11:04 am

LOL how is couture going downhill fast? he destroyed Sylvia and Gonzaga and was heavyweight champion. he was doing well against lesnar until he got caught. what exactly is going so down hill? ya hes old but he'd still own most heavies out there.

  17. steve

    February 2, 2009 at 11:23 am

Just watch Dane. He is old and he just lost by tko. He will lose again and retire. That fast enough for ya?

  18. dane drebin

    February 2, 2009 at 11:50 am

i agree that lesnar beating him doesnt say too much because he is taylor made to beat couture. he is a bigger version of couture. he definetly hasnt totally proven himself till he beats a good sub guy like mir. if couture fights nog i think he will beat nog tho.

  19. Eric

    February 2, 2009 at 12:48 pm

You all make some good points. I'll talk to CagE and see if he will put up a poll for top P4P tomorrow.

Steve, you're right Chuck has lost a lot lately. With the Shogun thing I'm just factoring in the layoff time on top of the fact that he hasn't looked like he used to in Pride. But what does everyone think about what steve said and changing the rankings to:

    6. Shogun

    7. Jardine

    10. Chuck Liddell

  20. dane drebin

    February 2, 2009 at 1:01 pm

i dont really care where those two are ranked right now because jardnines about to get knocked out and chucks about to beat shogun so it will all be sorted out soon enough

  21. kom34

    February 2, 2009 at 2:15 pm

all i know is that dana will give either chuck or rampage a shot at the title if they can put one (ramp) or two (chuck) wins together.

  22. T.R.

    February 2, 2009 at 2:35 pm

after fedor beats barnett then it should be:

    1. fedor

    2. gsp

    3. a silva

  23. Rancho

    February 2, 2009 at 8:18 pm

for me anderson silva is the pound for pound champ of ufc without a shadow of a doubt!! anderson silva has maybe not fought the same calibre recently as he has dominated the division. when gsp fights thiago alves…. he too will have no one else to fight other than re matches. anderson silva is on an 8 fight win streak and has defeated both franklin and henderson. out of the middleweight top 10….. anderson has fought four of them and soon to be five when he fights thales! and not just fought he finished all of them in the ufc and got disqualified against okami in another organization. and considering gsp is such a big welterweight…. he hasnt even fought any guys at welterweight. he actually goes for smaller guys. that is why anderson is ahead…. although irvin was not world class, anderson has always been open to moving up and down divisions!! the ufc and gsp acknowledge that anderson is the pound for pound champ in the ufc. maybe fedor is the only person that can be argued to be better than anderson but gsp is way off at the moment. not saying gsp wont be p4p but right now, for it is anderson silva.

  24. Trey

    February 2, 2009 at 11:41 pm

I just find it funny that the same people who like to say that Fedor is the man because he beat old EX UFC champs are the ones discrediting Lesnar's win over the CURRENT UFC champ.

I am not comparing Lesnar to Fedor, I was saying that Lesnar & Mir are both better than AA. And have wins over CURRENT champs, who has AA beat in the past 3 years of any note?

  25. Trey

    February 2, 2009 at 11:43 pm

AA was geting beat by a fat Roy Nelson until he finally ran out of gas in the last round and won an uninspiring decision over Werdum…. YAY!

  26. Tim

    February 3, 2009 at 1:44 am

The thing is and i am a lesnar fan is he has had only 3 fights in the UFC and 4 overall where AA has had about 20 total so experience wise you have to put AA up there until Lesnar beats his next 3 opponents, which should pose problems for him. Couture just lost to Lesnar so he must be ranked below him so that should explain why they are ranked below AA, i am not saying AA is better but he has proven himself to be top 5 more so than Lesnar has so far although lesnar will eventually be top 3 HWGHT.

  27. tom

    February 3, 2009 at 4:54 am

wtf were is vitor on middle weights… he should be ranked in the top 4 best middle weights..he has won both of his middle weight fights by KO and both of them were sick ass knocks outs…Vito has been the UFC light heavy and heavy weight champ and now is Affliction middle weight champ…VITOR could beat Hendo and rich and maybe anderson

  28. T.R.

    February 3, 2009 at 5:03 am

i would love to see vito back in the ufc. he looks like an animal at 185 now. i think he would pose problems for anyone. i agree with tom.

  29. yc

    February 3, 2009 at 5:17 am

Hendo and Franklin aren't in middle weight divisions anymore anyways they shouldnt be ranked in that division.

  30. roy

    February 3, 2009 at 5:24 am

franklin should not be ranked in that devision maybe but hendo's next fight is at mw and he should be ranked in both as he will be fighting in both.

  31. roy

    February 3, 2009 at 5:25 am

and i love affliction but vitor should go to the ufc where they have more fighters for him and i agree i think he will do well there.

  32. kom34

    February 3, 2009 at 10:14 am

both henderson and franklin were up to fight at middleweight against bisping so i think they're both middleweights.

vitor is pretty new to the mw division but i agree that his performances pretty much place him in there somewhere.

AA is better than lesnar and mir imo.

  33. steve

    February 3, 2009 at 11:04 am

I really think Marquardt should be ahead of Franklin at #3. In the MW division. He looks very good. I dont think Thales Leites should be close to the list. He just doesnt impress me at all. Vitor should be on it before him for sure. I also think Okami is ranked a bit high for not looking good in his fights besides when he fought Evan Tanner. But beating tanner at that stage wasnt anything to brag about and he was the clear favorite in the fight. I do like how cage has continued to do ranking and update them and even let us have our say in the rankings. Pretty cool.

  34. Kash

    February 3, 2009 at 11:40 am

Sherdog just put up their top 10

    1. Anderson Silva

    2. GSP

    3. Fedor

    4. BJ Penn

    5. Miguel Torres

    6. Rashad Evans

    7. Forrest Griffin

    8. Rampage

    9. Thiago Alves

    10. Mike Brown

I don't think Mike Brown should be in there because he is probably going to lose his title to Leonard Garcia.

  35. STEVEO

    February 3, 2009 at 12:24 pm

i dont see the point of ranking someone in a division they no longer fight in either

  36. Eric

    February 3, 2009 at 3:09 pm

Middleweights were updated. If Franklin belongs in Light HW then where should he go?

  37. steve

    February 3, 2009 at 10:54 pm

I really dont think Franklin should be ranked higher than anyone in the list of ppl at 205. I guess u could put him as an 11 spot like u did Sonnen at MW.

  38. lukec

    February 4, 2009 at 1:27 am

Georges St. Pierre is the man and its going to be hard for some to beat him….

  39. dane drebin

    February 4, 2009 at 6:13 am

im with you steve i would have had him ranked in 205 if he beat henderson but he needs another win before he can be placed ahead of anyone in the 205 top 10. however i think he will be there soon i think he has a good chance against jardine, shogun, wand, and babalu.

  40. Eric

    February 4, 2009 at 6:35 am

I really can't see him anywhere above 9 right now on LHW. I'll take him off the MW list and wait to see how he does in his next fight.

  41. derek

    February 4, 2009 at 10:17 am

GSP doesn't need to fight thiago alves. GSP showed why he is #1. i would love to see anderson silva vs GSP. GSP technically never has lost. when he lost to hughes, it was a mental defeat that cost him. and serra just got GSP with a lucky punch. other that than, GSP has never been soundly defeated or dominated. anderson silva is great, but has not been really tested recently. who has he fought recently worth mentioning? yeah, he destroyed rick franklin and beat hendo. but who else? james irvin? anderson silva needs to do more to convince me.

  42. dane drebin

    February 4, 2009 at 12:14 pm

actually TECHNICALLY GSP has lost… Twice

  43. Patrick89

    February 4, 2009 at 12:50 pm

Yeah, GSP is probly my favorite fighter, but he lost those fights for sure. He tapped both times, how can you question that?

  44. steve

    February 4, 2009 at 7:44 pm

He wasnt disputing that he actually lost those fights. He was saying that Hughes only won b/c GSP was very nervous and prefight GSP couldnt even look at him in the ey. We got to see in the 2nd a nd 3rd fight that he was nervous in the first fight and I do beilieve that is why hughes beat him. And with Serra like he said Serra gt a lucky punch. 9 out of 10 times he beats hughes and Serra. Atleast this is what I think Derek was trying to say.

  45. Rubs

    February 5, 2009 at 8:20 pm

    1. Fedor —–> Dana White should read this

    2. GSP

    3. Anderson Silva

    4. Rashad Evans

    5. Lyoto Machida

    6. Rampage

    7. Urijah Faber

    8. Barnett/Mir (maybe…)

  46. Ryan S

    February 6, 2009 at 3:39 pm

Define lucky punch. Someone punches where you are not blocking. That's not lucky, its good timing. GSP got caught by Serra with a nicely timed punch, actually a few nicely timed punches.

  47. dane drebin

    February 6, 2009 at 3:51 pm

dude derek and steve GSP admitts to his losses. he would never be like technically i ahve never lost those were fluke instances. he takes his losses like a man and moves on. serra owned him with a flurry of punches then gsop got up again and then serra owned him some more untill GSP gave up. Hughes caught GSP in an armbar. Get over it they were both losses and he will lose again.

  48. steve

    February 6, 2009 at 7:09 pm

Dane can u not read I never said he didnt lose those fights. And go back and watch the serra GSP fight. Serra hits him and hurts him with a punch to the back of the head. GSP never recovered from that. Serra beat him but yes it was a fluke punch as in if they fought again that shit wouldnt happen and it was proven. He proved that he had an off night in both of his losses as he came back and avenged them no sweat. Thats the point im making. I do think that Anderson would beat GSP but I wouldnt mind seeing it. And dane good call saying he will lose again. U really went out on a limb with that statement since GSP will be fighting top guys every fight until he retires which is gonna be a long ways from now lol.

  49. Eric

    February 9, 2009 at 5:10 am

Cage has a poll going for top P4P. If you haven't already, vote for who you think is the top P4P fighter and the results be posted on our rankings for this site.

  50. Alex

    February 9, 2009 at 2:31 pm

Rashad Evans at #4 p4p. Hahahahaha Rubs thats a good one.

  51. dane drebin

    February 9, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Steve whatre u even freakin out about? derek said "GSP technically never has lost" and i said no technically he did lose twice. who care how he lost or why he lost. u act like u know GSP and what he was going through at those times. chill the fuck out GSP lost twice its a fact. its not like his losses were split decisions he lost by tapping out both times. ya he avenged his loses but he still lost. quit bitching and let derek speek for himself.

  52. zak

    February 9, 2009 at 4:18 pm

Rubs must be outta his mind if he thinks anderson silva is ranked 3 p4p haha

  53. steve

    February 9, 2009 at 6:23 pm

Dane u were trying to prove a point but nobody was agruing with u Derek was pointing out the fihts he lost were when he was at the top of his game and u didnt understand that. So I had to explain it to you and im not freaking out lol.

  54. steve

    February 16, 2009 at 4:04 am

Is this one of those supposed arguements I lost lol. Read this post and see how Dane didnt understand what technically meant in context with how Derek was using it and I tried to explain it to him and he argued over something that I had said I agreed with lol.

  55. J-Furm!!

    February 16, 2009 at 4:22 am

Rubs has no fuckin idea wat he's talkin bout… Zak said hes retarded for puttin The Spider at 3rd

  56. J-Furm!!

    February 16, 2009 at 4:23 am

im lovin that anderson silva is at the number 1 spot… vote did count!!!

  57. JKilla

    February 24, 2009 at 2:30 am

GSP lost twice, and avenged both losses in style, GSP has fought some tought competition and everyone he has fought, he completely Dominated. Period. Anderson Silva? Not So Much.
