Chael P. didn’t let the fact that he squeaked out a close decision victory to Michael Bisping keep him from delivering another off the wall post fight interview with Joe Rogan. The judges scored it 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in favor of Sonnen (28-11-1) at UFC on FOX 2.
According to Sonnen, you should add his name to the dictionary:
“Joe Rogan, tonight is not for questions for me. This night is your night, brother. I want to know how you feel being only inches away from greatness. I want you to tell everybody how it feels. Are you not mesmerized? Do you not have chills going up your spine? For the first time on FOX, for you to be here in Chael’s octagon on Chael’s channel holding Chael’s microphone interviewing Chael.”
“While you’re thinking about that, remember this: when you’re the greatest fighter in the world today, they got a name for you. They don’t call you a great fighter. They call you Chael Sonnen.”
“Beat me, if you can.”
After winning this fight Chael earns the right to fight current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva this summer in Brazil. Sonnen previously fought Anderson Silva at UFC 117 where after dominating the majority of the fight, Silva submitted Sonnen via triangle choke. But don’t tell that to Chael, he thinks he won that fight and is the current UFC champion.
As entertaining as this post fight interview was, his last one was maybe the greatest callout in sports history.
