According to the Houston Chronicle, Former PRIDE Champion Dan Henderson turned down a recent contract extension offer with the UFC. The reason, he’s holding out for better pay and better fights.

they are trying to make some cutbacks, and the fighters aren’t overly happy about that.

The 37-year-old Team Quest fighter has one bout left on the Pride contract he brought with him to the UFC. White offered an extension, but Henderson didn’t bite. He thought the offer was low and chose to take the fight against Quinton Jackson at UFC 75 under the terms of his Pride contract, which left him with no opportunity for a fight bonus.

Despite assurances from White that he would be taken care of in the UFC, Henderson is waiting for what he thinks is an equitable offer.

Dan Henderson vs. Tito Ortiz at UFC 78

With one fight left on his current contract, Dan Henderson was also offered and turned down a fight with Tito Ortiz at UFC 78, stating:

It’s not the fight that I’d ask for. Beating Tito won’t get me a rematch (with light heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson). I don’t think he’s top five (in the 205-lb. division). I’d have to beat at least a top three guy to get the rematch.

this is what the UFC does they fuck. Then they make u out to be the bad guy. I hate how fucking cheap they are. This is the reason couture left them.Even tho he is still under contract they are gonna hav 2 get out the big bucks for the fighters who theywant to fight.

    Tito vs Dan

tito is not a top 3 contender at all he should fight houston alexander or fight keth jardine. After that maybe rematch Wanderlei if he is coming off a win or maybe tito when he is coming off a win. BUT I really think he should just move down to 185 and smash anderson silva.

Dana couldn't get HBO onboard so now he has a whole bunch of fighters that have to fight so many times a year as stated in their contracts, and he isn't able to get them all their fights in the time span they negotitated. With people like Randy Couture leaving, Matt Hughes stating on TUF that he's almost done in the sport….theres quite a list really that will probably be done soon, and if and when these guys leave we the fans want to have the best fighters and familiar faces like Fedor who we know is a world class fighter, I'm not liking where the UFC is taking the sport anymore.

Well said Don. It's like anything that grows too fast – it can blow up in your face. There are just so many new fighters out there, that our favorites are thrown into the middle of the mix and it sucks for the fans.

It's good to see someone tell Tito that he's not top 5. I love it.

I dont know where the sport is headed with so many organizations coming up and signing a few headline fighters. I dont know if they will have PPV's or show their fights on cable or online. Yeah, you guys are right, the UFC looks like it might get the rug swept out from underneath them if they dont watch out.

If you had to guess…who takes it. Fedor or Randy?

Personally, I have seen that Couture is training smart and hard, yet the guy has got so much knowledge. Fedor is so agressive and physical, its hard to go against him, but its been a while since he fought someone good in his own weightclass.

    I pick Randy.

I would go with Fedor on that one. Can't take anyting away from Randy, but Fedor is a physical phenom in the Heavyweight division…fast, strong, and agressive.

"Fedor. he can’t be stopped by any heavyweight right now."

Is that an uneducated guess? he certainly hasn't fought any big heavy weight names in the UFC or Pride….yet you seem to think the man is the incredible hulk and anyone who fights him makes him turn green. Mirko and Shogun were unstoppable to eh?

"Im to old for this shit" he says to big john.

He hasn't fought any big names in Pride???? He freakin fought every heavyweight in Pride. Fedor is the incredible hulk. he's unbelievable to watch. I love Randy like most of us do, but I can't see him beating Fedor.

I think Randy will make a game of it and it will be a great fight, but I have to think Fedor will win. I've gone back and watched Fedors fights and he is an animal. And at the same time always in control of himself. I can't wait to see Fedor v. Arona II.

Yeah Crynot and Kash it seems Ryan never heard of PRIDE, Fedor is unstopable right now when he was in PRIDE no one could beat this machine, and in Affliction he's doing the same Dana you suck for not signing Fedor when you had the chance too, you cheap bastard. Ryan check your info before you speak look who's the uneducated one now, dumb@ss.
