Dana White On Fedor Emelianenko “Believe me, I’m trying to make it happen”

Now that Affliction is no more, where do the fighters go next. Strikeforce, UFC, Japan?

UFC President Dana White On ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas,

“My job is to put on the best fighters and to give you, the fans, the fights you want to see … I’ve been trying to get Fedor in the UFC. I want it because you want it. Believe me, I’m trying to make it happen.”

“He’ll fight for the title first …. What does he need, a tune-up fight or something? … To argue where this guy sits in the heavyweight division, we can argue that all day.”

Dana White on Fedor vs Brock Lesnar and Randy Couture,

“I don’t know …. Fedor has a ton of experience. The guy’s been around forever. But you can’t take anything away from Brock Lesnar. … It’s an interesting fight. It’s a very good fight.”

“Fedor’s got to come to a deal first … If Randy can go out there and cut that deal with Fedor, then Randy, get to work, buddy.”

Their is not that many good fights left for Fedor outside the UFC. Maybe his management will come to there senses and work with the UFC.

Props: Fanhouse

Fedor and his managment better decide come to the UFC. If they don't it and Fedor goes to Japan or somewhere else where there is no real competition for him. It'll make Fedor look like a bit of a pussy, for not wanting to come to the UFC and face the elite HWs in MMA and it will forever be unknown if he really is the greatest HW of all time…

There's no reason why Dana wouldn't want Fedor to fight in the UFC…If Brock & Fedor fought, it would most likely be one of their best selling PPV's of all time and believe me, Dana knows that as well. Dana also knows Fedor would be a huge cashcow for the UFC and bring in even more of a cash then their already making now. I'm sure the UFC would make Fedor one of their highest paid fighters, so theres really no reason why Fedor shouldn't join. But, if he never decides to join the UFC, I think it will forever damage his reputation has the greastest HW fighter ever.

Fedor will more than likely retire, Fedor hates Dana…. and he hates the UFC.

i hope Fedor does Retire now, just to show that you can't treat him like shit (like Dana has already done)

but who knows…. everyone has a price.

Well there is Overeem, Rogers, Werdum, big foot Silva outside the UFC. These fights are just as tough as those the UFC can provide. Not as big marketing wise but just as tough.

It is bull to say all the best fights are in the UFC. The UFC don't have all the best figthers in the hw division besides Fedor. Would guys like Congo, Lesnar or Velasquez really beat guys like Overeem, Werdum, Kharitanov, big foot Silva, Rogers and Yvel? I don't know and neither does Dana White. Many people don't even know Yvel beat Congo when they met.

Simply put…the UFC doesnt need Fedor…sure it would be a no brainer to sign him and make money but they will continue to make billions without Fedor. Fedor if he wants to fight competition and make good money and put a exclamation point on his career and legacy he will fight with the UFC and either make it or break it.

Fedor retiring only hurts Fedor and alot of unaswered questions would remain…example can Fedor adapt to the new age of fighting and fighters as in Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, Kongo etc…i hope the ufc takes the contracts of the affliction fighters they need more hwghts and finally would put an end to the ufc fighters are bull shit crap….One thing is for sure Fedor vs. Lesnar would happen and that would make millions on top of millions.

I crack up that people say sthat Fedor must fight Brock Lesnar to prove that he is the best…that's funny.

Believe me, I am dying to see him in the UFC but it's the same old problem; Dana doesn't want him to fight in the Sambo championships while he is under contract and Fedor feels that he owes it to his countrymen to compete in it. We'll see what happens, but if you really believe that Fedor is afraid of the UFC heavyweights, you're a moron.

I hate to say this but I just don't see Fedor signing in the UFC. I don't think reputation or being considered the best ever even matters to Fedor based on the interviews I've seen with him. I guess those of us that do think Fedor is the best, will just have to stick to that story, while the others will berate him and call him a pussy for never selling out to the UFC.

I don't Fedor is afraid to fight any of the elite HW's in the UFC. I think he's afraid that he might lose to someone and hurt his reputation just a lil bit, as one of the greatest HW's and P4P fighters of all time…

He needs to come to UFC and show the world, only hardcore mma fans know who he is or what he's done. He'd be the new ''HIM'' The new Liddell, the guy EVERYBODY is afraid of, HE STEALS SOULS dude, honestly. Look at CC, look at Nog, look at Arlovski, at big Timmy, he is the grim reaper of careers.

It would be sad if he never came to the UFC and smashed and crushed his way into the HOF. If he doesn't then he will only be remebered as ''That really good fighter who nobody but us hardcore MMA fans knew, and the guy who never went to the big show.''

Sorry to sound like a UFC fanboy, but come on, Pride isn't around anymore and UFC has most of the cards in their deck. Affliction is dead, Strikeforce has like 8 well known fighters at best, Dream is only viewed by us maniacs, as well as Sengoku. *End Rant*

CYRYUS, you make a good point, Fedor probably doesn't care that much about legacies and shit, he just loves what he does, plain and simple. Have you guys seen his training area, a shitty shack in Stary Oskol, running around like an abandoned school with the Red Devil team. He's so old school, friggin badass, it's like Rocky except Russian and he doesn't block with his face :)

    July 25, 2009 at 12:07 pm

I consider myself to be a knowledgable MMA fan. I really don't care for Fedor that much and sort of would like to see him to get beat, at least once in his career. I just think every fighter should have one solid lose in their career. I'm not sure why. Maybe it's "the saying" and I'm not saying that this is a true, but the "old saying" in MMA that goes "If your undefeated, your fighting the wrong people." But, I know how good Fedor really is and the destuction he's done in the past, mostly in Pride. I remember Fedor taking a huge right hand bomb from Fujita to the side of the head, about got KO'd and came back a couple minutes later, to rock "Iron Head" and submit him with a rear choke. It was pretty spectacular, I have to admit. Anyway, Fedor is one of the great MMA fighters of all time, but I believe if he doesn't go to the UFC, a lot of people will forever question his greatness and question if he was one of the best P4P fighters of all time…

I would love to see Fedor and Lesnar fight because mostly it would be a crazy, exciting fight. More that, than to actually see who's the best HW in MMA. I really don't know what would happen. I kind of would like Brock to win though. But, I predict that Fedor would probably win by TKO in the stand up department. When he gets his fast, powerful hands flying around like the old Wandy…Watch out…

    July 25, 2009 at 1:22 pm

knowing that brock would love to have his ego stroked by beating fedor, brock would train very hard for this fight.

  19. Joey

    July 25, 2009 at 10:59 pm

Brocks size makes him look better than he is. If Fedor was his size hands down Brock would just be another victim. They need to split the HW division. I don't think Couture or Noguiera would have a chance against Brock.

obviously joey you never saw ghe couture lesnar fight. lesnar won for sure but randy gave him the most problems out of all his fights so far. mma is a matter of game plans. i think its funny that many considef a lesnar vs fedor fight ingeresting as do i, but whag is really interesting is lesnar is still a rookie and he is this good and the fact he gets better each fight is scarry. fedor can do what he wants but if he wants money lifechanging money he will sign with the ufc.

    July 26, 2009 at 12:42 am

What type of blackmail is this? You can have fedor if we put are company in there too? No, your company is not a legit and recognized company, and the UFC doesnt co-promote. Give Fedor a three fight deal in the UFC. If anything Fedor's manager should just ask for alot of money too and be happy with that. M-1 Global is never going to launch, so what's the point of co-promoting with an upstart company from russia?

  23. tim

    July 26, 2009 at 1:33 am

Russian beast is a tard. SHUT UP YOU TARD

    July 26, 2009 at 2:31 am

M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein speaking on Fedor and the UFC… “This is the moment of truth that the UFC has talked about. Fedor and I are here in the States. If they want to come out and fly here, we are ready to conduct negotiations,” said Finkelchtein. “Of course it still doesn’t imply we are ready to accept any conditions they’ll throw at us. We want to talk to the UFC about having Fedor compete against some of their fighters, but only within the framework of co-promotional efforts with M-1 Global.”

Seriously stop with this crap, i never said comment 23 or the other stupid one. grow up you fucking punk ass whoever is acting as me the real Tim.

The UFC doesn't want to co-brand its events with M-1 Global, and M-1 Global, Fedor’s management company, is refusing to do a fight without its brand attached…I don't know whats goin happen here, but it still looks up in the air, whether or not Fedor will fight in the UFC…I hope he signs with the UFC. I won't to see him fight in the UFC a couple times, at least once…Fedor/Lesnar fight would be a crazy entertaining fight…

I think M1 has the chance now to make their impact. They can roll over the Affliction fights to their show in late August.

  29. Tim

    July 26, 2009 at 9:31 am

The problem is the UFC is the giant of MMA they own practicly all rights to every UFC fighter and WEC fighter past and present, no company can compete at the level of the UFC. The reason i am saying this is Fedor has little to no options left for him, no other promotion out there will dump millions on one fighter like affliction did, as you saw what happend…only the UFC can afford this as in Brock and Randy make on average a million a fight with bonuses and pay per view incentives and i am sure a similiar deal would be given to Fedor. The UFC will never cross promote i hope they do but Dana will not allow it but he did say he was doing everything possible to get Fedor to the UFC…bottom line is with or without Fedor the UFC will go on and so wil Fedor but the fact will remain was Fedor really the best or did he just not face the right competition overall? If fedor wants to fight the next generation of MMA fighters in the new age of MMA he will sign with the UFC otherwise frankly Fedor simply to pussy to risk his legacy over the possible losses to the new age MMA fighters.

i actually wished that affliction would have just put vitor in with fedor and did not cancel the card. I would have loved to have seen that fight. vitor would have fought hard, fedor would win but it would have been entertaining. I'm not holding my breathe for Fedor to sign with UFC. I would love to see it but M-1 will completely ruin this deal for sure.

I hope he makes the move to the UFC…he almost has to, b/c if he doesn't, Dana will just keep popping off about him which I have always thought was pretty weak of him, but now w/ "I told you so" tacked onto it. He's not Vince McMahon and all that dissing Fedor when so far no one has proven that they can beat him, certainly not Lesnar or anyone else in UFC…Fedor not joining will just give Dana that much more ammo…
