Dana White Retires Chuck Liddell From The UFC

During the UFC 116 press conference, UFC President Dana White officially retired Chuck Liddell, at least from the UFC standpoint.

“He’ll never fight in the UFC again. Can Chuck Liddell still make money? Could I make money off of Chuck Liddell? Yes. I don’t want that money. I don’t want to make that kind of money … I’m not interested in that. He won’t do it again. He cannot do it again. It will not happen again.”

“My problem isn’t with Chuck Liddell getting in shape or any of that stuff; the problem is Chuck’s chin. Anybody who’s been in this sport long enough knows you used to be able to hit him in the face with a crowbar and you couldn’t even wobble him. That’s not the case anymore. It’s not worth it to me.”

Whats a Chuck to do?

    I love this anti-UFC site.

Of course I'm one of only a few…

Chuck does what Chuck should do, promote the UFC, and hold himself out as the great champion he was. What Chuck should not do is fight again in any promotion and and diminish the sport that he helped to build. Chuck, you were a hell of a fighter, I'll miss you.

He's playing the role of a concerned friend but I feel there's a patronizing undertone happening here.

i agree, i think hes basically telling chuck don't even think about going and fighting somewhere else, he can't, dana is that big of a prick that if chuck fought elsewhere to make money dana would hold it against him in future ufc endeavors.

I don't think Dana's a dick at all. He might seem to demanding but it's for Chuck's own good. Him still wanting to fight is really dumb on his part. Chuck used to be my fav fighter but people hate when fighters don't know when to hang it up. He'll never be able to take the shots that he used to.

There are plenty of other things he could do for the UFC. Going to another company to fight because he can't cope with the fact that he's not a top guy anymore would be a slap in the face to Dana and the UFC cause it's would make them money.

They have invested a lot in him, and he'll piss it down the shiter if he continues his ever growing losing streak.

Why dosen' t Chuck do promotion for the ufc overseas or more coaching? He seems to be better at it than Tito, and Tito thinks hes the best coach ever.

I think they want Liddell to be the UFC's Terry Bradshaw
