According to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), legendary hall of fame fighter Royce Gracie tested positive for for traces of Nandrolone, a commonly used anabolic steroid, following the June 2 Dynamite USA show. Gracie defeated Kazushi Sakuraba in a very close and controversial decision.

Gracie was handed the maximum fine of $2,500 and will be suspended for almost one year. He also will have until July 13th to appeal the decision in front of the CSAC. This is a big blow to MMA. Gracie comes from the legendary Gracie family who developed the Brazilian Ju Jitsu (BJJ) fighting system.

I cannot believe it. I watched this guy in UFC 1 and now he is testing positive for steroids. It was bad in baseball and now its getting bad for MMA. Take an energy drink or something. I would retire long before I thought I had to take steroids to win…period.

I'm glad this guy needs to be forced into retirement. Wait for the senior MMA league and then compete in that.

Did they take away his win! They damn sure did Diaz. I hate the friggin UFC & their one way rules! What you do to one you should do to all!

Please, drugs have been taken by these guys for years, let's not be so blind to it all. Why all the sudden they start popping guys… hell if I know. Just treat them all the same!!! That's all I friggin ask!
