phil baroni tests positive for steroids

According to the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC), Phil Baroni tested positive for two types of steroids Boldenone and Stanozolol Metabolites following the Strikeforce / EliteXC : Judgment Day card on June 22 in San Jose California. The 31 year old was fined $2500 and suspended for 365 days. Baroni loss to Frank Shamrock by TKO in the first round of Strikeforce: Judgment Day. After the fight Baroni discovered that the had developed a hernia in his growing area and would need immediate surgery. This is a big blow to the sport of MMA as a whole. The sport has been dealing with one positive test after another if promoters are not to careful, MMA will be pushed back to the dark illegitimate sport it painstakingly came from.

doesnt surprise me just look at him he use to be a professional bodybuilder the dude took steroids and lied and said he didnt know he did and thats bullshit cause he knew and that is the problem with sports stars today. They all try and be bigger faster and stronger by taking steroids and in the end they get caught so dont do it and i bet we will be seeing a lot more positive drug tests in the future. The more testing the more positives. No doubt about it. It makes me sick to my stomach.

Doesn't suprise me, he knew what he was doing. He doesn't respect the sport enough for a good ground game so he makes his money on hyping himself and looking good. So what if they caught him because the roids give you an edge and addrenaline boost which he needed if he was going to have a shot at winning.

If you fight in cali. and take drugs, you are going down and these guys know it. I wish all MMA fighters were tested because it is a cheat to take steroids before a fight.

I hope the UFC doesnt let them take this stuff by having their fights in places with relaxed laws. LIke in the last one, in Ireland…the UFC was given the right to do their own testing…there were no commissions…and funny enough, no positives either.

I think they should keep around a 1 year ban for steroids, 8 months for cocaine, and 6 months for pot. But what I really think they should do is test every fighter after their fight.

I can see those being good timeframes. It should also be 2 strikes and you are banned from competing in that state for 3 years.

I can't stand fighters that use drugs to gain the upper-hand. Those would be: Roids, Cocain, and Meth. Now pot that is a downer and if anything makes you slower, hands up to Diaz…. There should be ban from the sport after the second time becuase that means you won't quit taking them. For the first it should be a 2-3 yr. ban to get the point across. If you pop for pot then go to aa (addicts anoymous) but slaps on the hand should be ok. What can anyone really expect from people out there in Cali. The Gov Isn't even from the country altough he is trying to make it legal to toke up the Killa!!
