Ellenberger versus MacDonald for UFC on Fox 8

UFC on Fox 8 will be held in KeyArena in Seattle, Washington and although this event is still months away, news of the fighters that will meet their match are finally being revealed. Its official: Jake Ellenberger will fight Rory MacDonald in a welterweight showdown on UFC on Fox 8.

These two has been one of the most formidable fighters in their division. To review their individual achievements here are some of their stats. Rory “Ares” MacDonald is a 23 year old fighter from Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. He has an impressive record of 14 wins and 1 loss. His last fight was a win against B.J. Penn at UFC on Fox 5 Henderson versus Diaz in December 2012 via unanimous decision. This last win was his 4th consecutive win since April 2011 when he was victorious against Nate Diaz in UFC 129 St. Pierre versus Shields via unanimous decision. His only loss was a fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 115 Liddell versus Franklin via TKO in June 2010. He has also faced superb fighters and has seen them fall like Che Mills, Mike Pyle, Michael, Guymon, Nick Hinchliffe and so many others.

His opponent for the match Jake “The Juggernaut” Ellenberger is a 28 year old fighter from Omaha, Nebraska, United States. He currently has an impressive record of 29 wins and 6 losses with his last fight an unforgettable win against Nate Marquardt at UFC 158 St. Pierre versus Diaz in March 2013. He knocked out Marquardt in just 3 minutes of round one. Before winning against Marquardt, he defeated Jay Hieron via unanimous decision at UFC on FX 5 last October 2012. Ellenberger has been victorious against terrific fighters like Diego Sanchez, Jake Shields, Sean Pierson and Mike Pyle to name a few. This fight against MacDonald, if victorious, will be his third consecutive win in just one year.

The UFC on Fox 8 line-up is yet to be announced. This will be headlined by a lightweight fight against Melvin Guillard versus Mac Danzig. Melvin Guillard has a 30 win, 12 loss and 2 draw fight card while Mac Danzig is proud of his 21 win, 10 loss and 1 draw career. The headline match between Guillard and Danzig will be seen on Fox Sports Network while the preliminary matches will be broadcasted via live feed through Facebook.
