Today The Ultimate Fighting Championship official announced its sale of a 10% minority stake in the company to Abu Dhabi’s Flash Entertainment. UFC President Dana White on the details of the deal:

Flash acquired a 10 percent minority stake through a direct investment in the equity of Zuffa, LLC….As for the day to day and how everything runs, it’s business as usual. Strategically, in our global expansion, it’s gonna help us get to certain places a lot faster than we could have done it.

The purchase gives the UFC stronger leverage as it expands to Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The Abu Dhabi royal family has been long supporters off Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts, hosting the prestigious Abu Dhabi Combat Club submission grappling competition.
