Frank Mir appears on ESPN to talk about his rematch with Brock Lesnar.

I'm not sure I understand why Mir is still the underdog.
July 9, 2009 at 8:18 am
Because everyone believes the hype in Brock and won't get off his shrunken nuts atrophied from steroids. I'm not a Mir nut hugger either, but this fight is a toss up. Brock has grown tremendously in his last two fights, but Mir has also deveoped his striking substantially. Mir also has probably the best BJJ of all the HWs, while Fedor has the best submission skills of the HWs. However, I do NOT think Mir is anywhere near his younger days when he was a lot more aggressive and busy. Mir talks a lot of shit. That said, I think Mir will take his one.

i'm putting my money on mir because you almost get a double payout if he wins. but i can't wait to see how different brock is for this fight.
July 9, 2009 at 8:51 am
Mir said on ufc 100 countdown that he kept his composure after Brocks punches. Mir knows he was hurt in their first fight but he did not admit it. If Brock can use excellent take down defense and keep it standing he will smash Mir. And if this goes to the gorund there is more danger for Brock. Mir is relentless with submission attempts
July 9, 2009 at 8:55 am
I hope there is no early stoppage and I hope Herb Dean is gonna ref this match. And not gay ass mazzagati or yves lavine
July 9, 2009 at 9:07 am
oh btw Brock only hit Mir in the back of the head like ONCE. Mazzagati has to go!!!
July 9, 2009 at 9:14 am
So basically, since Brock is bigger, he has the advantage? Makes no sense at all when you look at the skillset. He already beat him once and it wasn't luck. In my opinion, he should be able to do it again because as Brock trains and gets better, Mir should be doing the same thing. Alright, I'm going with Mir this time, but I think he will get kind of fucked up.
July 9, 2009 at 10:14 am
i mean really, i don't understand why anyone takes Mir in this fight.
All Brock has to do is dominate with his Wrestling and Striking
(Mir a stand up HAHAHAHAHA)
he showed this where? a sick old nog (who has terrible stand up)
or when he was taking fists to the face on the ground?
even in his Prime Mir's stand up was funny at best.
Lesnar TKO round 1 or 2
only way Mir stands a chance is a lucky sub and brock is too smart for that now.
July 9, 2009 at 10:48 am
One thing to keep in mind is that when Mir submitted Pete williams, no one before that submitted williams ever and williams was and experienced grappler and mma fighter. I dont think its luck it think brock doesnt have enough grappling and mma experience to avoid getting into submission territory
July 9, 2009 at 10:49 am
what i'm trying to say is that Mir is a really dangerous submission guy he can captiliaze pretty quick on any openings. Brock must be very alert and focused
July 9, 2009 at 11:08 am
but Mir will lose. he got brutally dominated by Vera.
the same will happen again.

It only takes one big hit to the back of the head to get really dazed. The cerebellum is back there. You'll get really disoriented. Try getting hit with a brick to the back of the head. Mazagatti was right for pausing the fight, but he should have warned Brock and then let Mir recover. Not take away a point without a warning.
I still maintain that Mir was pushed down. I've watched the replay so many times. No where does Brock land a clean one. He punches and then pushes Mir straight down.. with the help of the slippery mat.
The question now is — how good is Brock's chin? Nobody seems to ask this question because everyone looks at Brock's tree trunk neck, and assumes he has a granite chin. His chin is questionable at best. He hasn't fought any big punchers yet. Mir is no big puncher, but neither is Randy or Heath Herring.
As for referees, Herb Dean would be perfect. I hate that Dan Miragliotta dumb ass. Did anyone watch that Kimbo-Thompson fight? If it was a real referee in there, Tompson would have won that fight in the 2nd round after delivering 50+ unanswered elbows to Kimbos beard. Mirgliotta also stopped a couple of UFC fights early IMO.
July 9, 2009 at 12:04 pm
Smart bet would be to bet on Mir, not because he will win, but beacuse he's the underdog. I think Mir is like +200 now, while Brock is like -170.
July 9, 2009 at 12:34 pm
it WAS wrong to stop the fight. he hit him once by accident and was Mir's fault (turning your head on incoming punches?) Frank was ALREADY well and truly dazed. the fight should have been stopped and not for the back of the head punch but because the fight was over. (i mean really if it had gone on any longer Mir would have had Brain Damage)
July 9, 2009 at 12:51 pm
Truly dazed?? Mir said that He kept his composure and was alert, and was going for a armbar. I think Mir is lying
July 9, 2009 at 12:55 pm
yeah, i believe hes a lying cocky ass. he WANTS to make Lesnar look like a failure.
July 9, 2009 at 9:27 pm
Lesnar will win…he is hungry and focused on avenging his controversial loss to mir. You see lesnar is simply a freak of nature with tremondous abilities and genetic freak of athletic ability. mir can not match this nor can he stand or grapple..mkr said it himselfvi tried multiple times for arm bars but the guy is too damn strong…lesnar is getting better every day and that is very scarry for his opponents…whoever said that mir was pushed over b lesnar is a fucking retard…you clearly see twicw how lesnar punched and mir went down a?y means lesnar will .win
July 9, 2009 at 10:01 pm
Tim Lesnar may very well avenge his loss to Mir but the first fight was not Controversial. Lesnar hit Mir in the back of the head. As much as I hate the rule it has to be called and Mazzagatti did the right thing in that situation according to the rules. Lesnar tapped and lost after that. Excuses are not gonna change that. We will see if it was a fluke loss saturday night. I think Mir will probally get tko'd but who knows Lesnar is a wildcard just like Mir is. We have seen how bad Mir can look and we have seen him look really good. Thats why it is such a interesting rematch. You act like Lesnar is the closest thing to unbeatable there is. You dont have to be the biggest, strongest or the baddest to win a fight Tim. Technique overcomes size all the time. If this goes to the ground Mir will sub him. The real question is who is gonna win the stand up this time around. I hope Mir dont take the chicken shit way out and pull guard though lol.
July 10, 2009 at 2:10 am
dude your way off steve…technique does not guarentee victory and if hitting in the back of tbe head is a rule then they obviously need to call it alot fuckng more what i am saying is mr mazzashitty…favored mir in that fight and called the first thing that could get mir out of trouble..any normal good ref would not stop that fight mir was vulnerable and about to get tko,d…the ref didnt want brock to win so he forcd tbe action up goving mir time to recover…if uour going to call it in that match then it should be called in every match cause every fight that pretty much always happens not to me?tion mir is a puss for cradling up in the fetal position and turn his head away so lesnar would hit him in the back of the head..call it smart i cal
it being a cowered fight your way out… lesnar isnt unbeatable but he has all the ability to become somewhat of that standard and class..you think mir can stand with lesnar..what a fucking joke i cant wait to see them trade punches and see who goes down first..if it goes to the ground which it will m
mir is good off his back but i dont see lesnar making the same mistake twice…mir is in trouble he nothing except subs over lesnar..each dah lesnar gets better and better..and that is scarry..remember he has only 4 fights a.d 2 years of training…and wahat has he accomplished..hmm the ufc champion abd domination..thats pretty damn good. lesnar wins tko rd 2 or 3.
July 10, 2009 at 2:18 am
Mir pulling guard is something I hadn't really thought of… I mean… to put Lesnar in a triangle is asking to have your neck broken(unless it was put in really tight right away… Mir's legs could do it though) the armbar is damn near impossible. I don't think either of them want this one on the ground. Mir will keep his distance and Brock will stalk. Brock likes his heavy right hand. If Mir's stand up has improved as much as everyone is saying, that's his main chance which means a battle for us to watch. His other chance is if Brock misjudges a finish. If he begins his maul and Mir's head is still on straight, could mean bad news for Brock. I give this fight to Brock though. Frank has his chances but I think Brock is just gonna stand up and bang with him and I can't wait to see Mir's mouth get hit.
