Gerald Harris Cut From The UFC

After three straight wins in the UFC, two of which earned him “Knockout of the Night”, Gerald Harris was released by the UFC after losing to Maiquel Falcão at UFC 123.

“Yes it’s true I have been released from the UFC. Thanks for the support, it was great, & I’ll keep my head up …. Last tweet for tonight – I got a lot on my mind. Thanks for the support – the #BringBackGeraldHarris was a surprise. Didn’t expect that” ” [Twitter]

CobraClutch I dont know if ye remember me but we had an argument about the merge with wec and how fighters are getting cut too early because of an increase in roster within the UFC, you disagreed with me, fair enough. But I knew it would only take time for people to realise that as time goes on, fighters will be getting cut more often and with less loses than usual, gerald harris for example cut after only one loss.

And with the wec now finishing up I can see less mma on tv and we get the same amount of paid UFC cards. I will pop up on cagetoday just for you CobraClutch to remind you of this.

I was at ufc 123 and it was the loudest booing I have ever heard, lol. He looked horrible, even when he lost the first two rounds he didn't try anything in the third round. I think that Falcao dude only threw one strike in the entire third round. They both should get cut for one of the worste fights in ufc history.

I do think that there is some truth to what fakearms says but Harris' performance was terrible. As ironcjb82 puts it, it was a terrible showing. The UFC has historically rewarded fighters that put on good fights, even if they lose.

i was at ufc 123 also and i agree the booing during that fight was incredibly loud. the fans didnt like what they were watchin and dana responded. i didnt pay 300 bucks to see that snore fest.

i think fakearms is referring to the argument where he went on and on about fucking cc's mother…. i think we should all bow down to the mighty fakearms and praise him…

In fact he did make sweet yet angry love to my Mom. She needed the exercise. Only time will tell if he is right about a large number of fighters getting cut.

well cobra im glad your mom got that workout shes been needing… i also agree that fakearms cant just call himself the mma guru because one fighter got cut…. it is true that time will tell

When the discussion first began, I think it was just after the announcement of the merge between the WEC and UFC, everyone disagreed with me about my two arguments:

    1. Less MMA on tv for us fans because of WEC move to UFC which will be held on pay per view, Dana White did say that there will be more free cards on Versus but this still however is far less cards than what we had when WEC was a somewhat seperate company, so that means that we have the same amount of UFC cards being held on pay per view – this leads to my second point…

    2. A very very large roster with only limited number of cards per year means that the UFC can't afford to pay all its fighters and therefore we will see many fighters such as Gerald Harris going 3-1 in the company and being cut.

No one agreed with me here and CobraClutch began with calling me Dumb Fuck I believe, I knew that I would not have efficient proof at the time of the argument and therefore I had to hold back and wait. I know I'm right and only time will tell but in the end the fans lose out.

Hey CobraClutch you Dumb Fuck, read this artictle

this is exactly what I had been talking about but you disagreed with me you Dumb Fuck and everyone said I don't know what I'm talking about but I guess I am not alone. As time goes on my point will be further proven, especially coming up to January. I can just see you backpedaling on what you said before like "Oh but I want to see the best fighters and UFC have the best fighters so thats why Dana White had to cut these guys is because they are not the best in the division."…. so Gerald Harris isn't good enough for the UFC because he has only 1 lose there but Tito Ortiz is good enough to stay, bullshit my friend, just last week Gerald Harris was an up and coming prospect, 1 lose shouldnt lose him his job

Interesting opinion, but lately there has been a lot more PPV and Free bouts than usual in the UFC.

Give fakearms credit though, I've never seen a Poster so hard up over a Thread before. I suppose if fakearms is right we are about to see 20 or more fighters instantly get cut from UFC.

    Let the madness begin…

fakearms, you may be right but everyone on this site is entitled to your own opinion.. tito ortiz is allowed to stay because whether he wins or loses, he sells tickets… i think your taking yourself a little too seriously

First off Dumb Fuck, the world is not Black and White, it does not have simple rules. It is the same with all companies, people can lose their jobs for a million reasons: laziness, attitude, immaturity, saying something inappropriate, not dedicating themselves, turning down bouts, demanding more money, breaking contract, and in the fight world this can include: having a boring fight, not owning up to it, not improving as a fighter, not promoting the brand, etc.

We've all heard Dana White talk about fighters getting cut for lots of reasons other than their record and that is normal. In my 20's I worked in construction for a hardcore Christian, when he heard I had more than one girlfriend he fired me for not having "sound" values.

Your argument is improving but you need to look at the larger picture.

    November 25, 2010 at 12:31 am

    You nailed that one Tray.

If Dumb Fuck, I mean Fakearms is correct then the UFC is about to dump about 24 additional Fighters.

Tray thank you for giving me some credit and jbug you are right everyone is entitled to their opinion, I came onto cagetoday to give my opinion about the merge with WEC but that Dumb Fuck CobraClutch replied to my message saying that I don't know shit about anything blah blah blah, then when I tried to explain myself he continued with some more abuse so now after hanging back and letting things settle, my opinion is mostly right, so I just want to say fuck you CobraClutch you giant tool give people a chance to express their opinion even if you don't agree with it…

I see CobraClutch commenting on cagetoday all the time and making fun of people, no wonder no one is really commenting on cagetoday when there is one giant tool who hates on everything, thats one of the reasons why I go to mmafighting or mmajunkie first. And your only reply to being wrong is

"May be your right Dumb Fuck. Only time will tell.

    Does anyone really care?"

    What a giant tool.

I don't think that fighters will lose their jobs due to the merger. When the WEC merged into the UFC, they brought thier assets, bedgets, revenue, etc with them. It is not like the UFC is now only going to operate under the pre-merge UFC budget. The UFC has kept fighter, even if they lost, as long as they continue to sell tickets, be exciting (in and out of the ring), and be loyal. I beleive that most fighters are paid for each fight…they are not getting a weekly pay check. As long as each event is successful (successful in terms of finance and not in terms of the fights being good), then the UFC is making money because they are only paying the fighters on that card.

No guys wait…Dumb Fuck has opened my eyes, I'm a mean person and I should act more like a chick and be sensitive to the posters with vaginas. I'm sorry Dumb Fuck, sorry I was so nice to you. You are wrong. Nothing in your post is correct. Harris was not released due to your bogus theory, or something you ripped off of another MMA site.

…and another thing Dumb Fuck. I like Cage Today and I like the posters here, even the guys I argue with, and yes, it gets mean some times, but we are men, and men don't whine.

    Just the opposite is happening.

The UFC is about to greatly expand.

They have set up an entire branch in Europe

and are currently looking to do so in Asia as well.

Dumb Fuck is just repeating a rumor that has been

traveling through the MMA blogs for the past few months.

100% American, I didn't repeat a rumour from some mma blog because if you go back to the original arugment I actually posted my opinion the same day that Dana White had announced the merge with WEC so I didnt get a chance to read anything else.

I don't know how or why people on here defend Dumb Fuck CobraClutch when he is such a giant tool, I had posted my opinion weeks ago and if you check the date on that mmafighting article you will see that the date is sometime this week so how the fuck did rip off some mma article when I had mine posted weeks ago you fucking loser. Just admit it CobraClutch you were wrong and you are a giant douchebag tool. How old are you anyway?

  23. CobraClutch

    November 26, 2010 at 2:39 am

Listen Dumb Fuck, because obviously no one here is getting through to you. I stated:

    "Time will tell"

What that means is that if the UFC drop another 24 fighters before year end then you are correct with your theory, and if they don't then your are incorrect. It's not that difficult to grasp.

Until that happens there is no way to see who is right or wrong.

Before you respond again, stop, and think about it

  24. King Kong

    November 26, 2010 at 2:53 am

He's not stupid CC. He gets it, but if the UFC drop 20 more fighters before the end of the year YOU owe Fakearms an apology!

If the UFC does not cut 20 more fighters by 2011 then Fakearms will know his theory was wrong.

    Big deal…

  25. Floyd

    November 26, 2010 at 3:13 am

Fakearms – you need to read the posts people write.

No one had defended CobraClutch, but the guy make excellent points.

You cannot base the release of one fighter or even three fighters on your theory. If you are right then the UFC will release the same number that the WEC merger is bringing in.

Either way I don't really care. I want to see the best matches between the best fighters!

  26. fakearms

    November 26, 2010 at 5:43 am

I'm not sure how many people have been cut from the UFC since the announcement of the merge with WEC (27-28 Oct) but I think these are the main people:

    Seth Petruzelli

    Goran Reljic

    Peter Sobotta

    Nick Osipczak

    Karo Parisyan

    Matt Brown

    Gerald Harris

There could be more but as well as a lot of cuts up until New Years I can see more cuts around Jan and Feb. We'll also have to see how many events are announced for 2011 and how many events you are missing out on due to the merge. I'm going to miss WEC events cause every event was excellent, the smaller guys really go at it… thats something even CobraBitch has to agree with

    November 26, 2010 at 7:15 am

Hey fakearms, why does it matter if the UFC cuts shitty fighters? Who really gives a flying turd? If you want to be upset about the merger, be upset over the possibility of less free events. Honestly, cutting a decent fighter who had one crappy fight should keep everyone on their toes knowing anyone could go if they don't perform.

I don't care whether they cut 1 or 100 fighters, I seriously doubt they're going to cut good fighters just for the sake of money. There always seems to be another underlying reasons, such as drugs, PEDs, contract dispute, poor fight performance, etc.

Just chill and eat some leftover turkey. The Tryptophan and Carb hangover should make you forget about this stupid topic.

  29. fakearms

    November 26, 2010 at 7:30 am

Deuces your right, the less free events was also one of my points, anyway I'll leave with knowing that my opinion has some validity, and next comment will probably be CobraBitch with some more backpedaling and maybe even accusing me of ripping off some mma article or some bullshit like that to save himself any embarrassment

Nice to see no one's grown up in my absence. But you can always tell it's not me when there are idiotic spelling errors like some morons using "your" when they really mean to use "you're." nice try kiddies. Thanks for missing me so much you post as me. Hahahaha.
