Heath Herring Hits Hollywood, Steps Back From Fighting

Brock Herring

Brock Herring

UFC Heavyweight Heath Herring,

“I’ve been trying to get into acting a little bit; it’s actually been taking off. I’ve got a bunch of different movies lined up. Don’t have anything signed just yet, but you know, the film industry is kind of like the fight industry, there’s always rumors, but things always seem to fall in place afterwards. I don’t have anything scheduled right now with the UFC. Like I said, this acting stuff is kind of taking off, I’ve got some other things going on. I’m really not in a big hurry to jump back in there right now. I’m kind of riding this wave and seeing where it’s going to take me…It’s not that I’m not really happy with the UFC … It’s just, you know, like I said, I think that last fight just took a lot out of me. Now with acting, and things kind of taking off, it just left a bad taste in my mouth. And not necessarily with the UFC. Just with the training … you know, some of my trainers and things like that. I think I just needed a little time to step back and maybe do some other things for a little bit. [Fanhouse]

The Texas Crazy Horse recently started in the MMA action flick “Never Surrender” with fellow fighters BJ Penn, GSP and Anderson Silva. Herring seems unmotivated to get back in the cage after his UFC 87 loss to current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. Having not fought in over a year, Herring was scheduled to take on Cain Velasquez at UFC 99, but pulled out of the fight due to a bad case of bronchitis.

its about time. Heath for me hasn't looked right since he got in the Ring with Fedor…. but he does have a way of killing off careers.

i wish him all the best and hope he can act! :P

LOL..Herring is still relatively young and has had a tremondous MMA career, props to him for doing what he wants as if your not mentally into MMA training your not going to do to well and your only hurting yourself. Take time away clear your head and come back when your mentally healthy and ready to train.

    don't be silly lol.

Brock took 15 mins to stop him when he looked fat and slobby.

Fedor took 10 mins when he looked fit, hungry and was in his prime.

uh ok mike i dont know what fights u watched but heath has been fat his whole career and then got in the best shape of his life to fight brock lesnar and was destroyed.

after his fight with fedor he had 6 losses and 8 wins with some no contests sparatically in there but i would hardly call that killing someones career. herring faught crocop in his prime after fedor and lost but then won 4 in a row. after he faught brock he went into movies. pretty obvious fedor had nothing to do with ruining his career but good luck with that mikey.

    4 wins…. against nobodies….

    yeah GREAT argument there Dane….

so after his loss to Fedor, WHO did Heath beat or even fight that was good?

Heath looked fat vs Fedor? are you MAD?!

I love the tag “Heath Herring Hits Hollywood, Steps Back From Fighting”. When was the last time he actually TRIED fighting? It Wasn't his last couple fights.I say he's been acting longer than fighting…..ACTING like a fighter!….hahahahahaha!!! Really, no, hold your applause.

Why is it whenever you mention Lesnar or Herring, someone seems to find the need to bring Fedor into the comments..why? Because someone said i guess Lesnar put Herring into a new career? Who cares? Herring is doing what he wants and he is still young and has fought the best MMA fighters out there win or lose in my opinion there isnt much left for him in MMA to accomplish unless its a title run but thats just not going to happen, so why not take time off clear your mind and get away for awhile…its not like MMA is going to miss Herring and wont be here when he decides to return.

    August 27, 2009 at 3:38 am

Listen Tim. No one would have these kinda things to say about Heath if he didn't carry on like he was such a bad ass before his fights then fold when the pressure comes. If he spoke with reverence that was due his opponents (or his record) he would carry a lit more pull and respect. Look at Randy… losses in both rematches to chuck, loss to lesnar and a record that really isn't too impressive…. BUT- the man respects EVERY OPPONENT before, during and after- and brings it EVERY TIME. Heath is the Bizzaro world version of Randy…of a great HW for that matter and his ACTING doesn't fool anyone in MMA- it fits way better in Hollywood.

Aldo…. Fedor STILL has the same Fanbase as ever, only fans he no longer has is the ufc fans that wanted him in the ufc, but never bought any of his fights ppv anyways.

    August 27, 2009 at 4:38 am

Au' contrair mon fre'r Balendin- Fedor lost a lot of fans who did buy/watch his other fights when he REFUSED to sign where he could get the most top comp and bigger chances for paydays. Signing with Strikeforce was a chump move. And it wasn't a move to secure wins as much as it was a move to avoid losses. And Strikeforce might do worse with him, now that they have become a target for Dana, who mainly left them alone out of respect for Coker.

    Business, is business.

if Fedor is signed to a contract then he must go where that contract forces him to go.

its not Fedor's fault that he can't fight in the UFC, more Dana's and M1 global's

you seem to think that Fedor had ANYTHING to do with his contract…. and he didn't. Fedor has been signed to M1 since Pride days and they have always given him good comp, Brett Rogers is not the joke people are making him out to be, there are many fights and fighters that he can fight outside the ufc with his 3 fights on his contract.

    August 27, 2009 at 4:52 am

Soooooooooo fedor is like the ONE fighter Finkelstein is really pimping and you believe he had absolutely NO SAY WHATSOEVER in his contracts and no influence one way or the other? He couldn't opt out? He had no voice ? And that's his excuse? I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that one, sir. HE IS PART OWNER OF M-1. He most def' could've made it happen if he had wanted to. Brock aside, I think we all know that the ufc looked like a lot more L's than W's in his fight record and he went for the softer road. I say GOOD DAY, now.

  16. Balendin

    August 27, 2009 at 5:04 am

    hes part owner?

even if he is -part- is the key word there.

"he could have made it happen if he wanted too"

errr again, Evidence? hes in a contract…. that maybe he doesn't have the money available to BUY OUT of.

opt out? yeah like Randy did you mean?! OH SHI

Jesuz christ stil on fedors blablabla if the guy dident want to come to the ufc for what ever reason so B it .

And this tread is about herring not fedor .

    August 27, 2009 at 5:24 am

Just getting this straight now….. You DO NOT think he had enough pull to make it happen with UFC IF he had wanted to?…Is that it? The Top(only) fighter Finkelstink has that ANYONE wants to see?….DOES NOT have the pull necessary to make the Biggest Deal in MMA EVER happen?…Riiiiiiiiiiight. And…Randy tried to opt out of UFC only to see no greener grass anywhere else. He doesn't need to continue fighting and could retire just to continue training other fighters if he wanted. Must be SOMETHING he likes with Zuffa. Read: $$$$$$$$.

    August 27, 2009 at 5:25 am

MAN! Even Herring's threads give it up when the pressure is on!

Balendin how can you say it was Dana's fault. I thought he offered a pretty good contract for him. Also you dont think Fedor lost any fan base? Then your dumber than I thought. HA HA you make it sound like Fedor didn't have a choice where he went. He's the one signing the contract I'm pretty sure he had a choice. Way to fend the dumbass off Afraidor!

balendin fedor is part owner of M1 surprised u dont knwo that seeing as you know so much about him, his life, and his motives.

    August 27, 2009 at 6:28 am

bottom line is fedor and M1 are selfish in wanting to co promote with a company that isnt even in their league. the ufc is the big time and M1 has like to great unkown fighters. M1, Fedor, and finkelstein are selfish as fuck but probably made a good choice because now striekforce is gunna co promote M1 and give it exposure. M1 will still never be anything as good as ufc so who cares. fedor will run out of competition and come crawling back to the ufc eventually but as of right now there are about 4 world class fighters for him to fight out of the ufc.

heath has even stated himself that he never took training seriously until recently starting with the kongo fight. look at pics of him vs fedor he was chubby and then he got that personal nutritionist starting at the kongo fight and lost a lot of weight get ur facts straight. Facts are facts heath faught tons of fights after fedor with a winning record and faught brock, got his orbital bone broken, got completely dominated without landing any offense and hasnt been heard from again. end of story.

im not saying brock is a better fighter than fedor because i think fedor would beat him so dont get all butt hurt about it. Its just hilarious someone would think fedir has anything to do with herring going into acting when he faught him years ago get the fuck out of here with that stupid shit.

How does Fedor ruin careers when his career is pretty much ruined? He doesn’t have the fan base he did a year ago and he doesn’t bring in money for the company. Did Fedor ruin his own career then?
