Hector Lombard Challenges Michael Bisping
Former Bellator middleweight fighter Hector Lombard is challenging Michael Bisping. Lombard was interviewed by Fox Sports after he was able to submit Rouismar Palhares on the first round of their match at UFC on FX 6 in Gold Coast, Australia.
Lombard was heard saying: “Bisping, please. I want a piece of him. I don’t want to talk. Let’s talk in the cage. He bothers me.” Lombard added: “If I can’t fight Bisping, Mark Munoz, you’re next in line. I hope the UFC gives me the opportunity. I want to fight in the next couple of months, right away. I’m healthy, I don’t have any injuries and I’m ready.”
You may think that Lombard look so proud; this is because of his impressive fight stats in his professional career in MMA. “Lightning” is a middleweight fighter from Matanzas, Cuba. He has a superb 32 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw and 1 no contest fights in his record. But before his impressive win over Palhares in Gold Coast, he suffered a loss against Tim Boetsch in UFC 149 Faber versus Barao in July 2012 via split decision. Before this loss was a string of 20 consecutive wins since he 2007 when he was still in Cage and Bellator. He had several headline fights through the years against fighters like Jesse Taylor, Art Santore and so many more great fighters but each time Lombard emerge victorious. Lombard further added in his interview: “Every single time I fight in Australia, I please the crowd, so I’m pleased. I started my fighting career here and my first fight was actually on the Gold Coast. You could tell how happy I was before the fight and after this win. Everything went perfect this time.”
Lombard’s Christmas wish challenger is Michael “The Count” Bisping who is a 33 year old middleweight from Manchester, England. He holds 23 wins and only 4 losses in his MMA career. His last fight was a win against Brian Stann at UFC 152 in September 2012 via unanimous decision. Before this fight, he lost to Chael Sonnen in UFC on Fox 2 in January 2012 in a unanimous decision. He is scheduled to meet Vitor Belfort on UFC on FX 7 in January 19, 2013 in Ginasio Estadual Geraldo Jose de Almeida, Sao Paulo, Brazil. Definitely with this kind of stats, Bisping is a worthy opponent for Lighting as fans wait for official UFC confirmation.
