In a recent interview with MMAWeekly, Fedor Emelianenko addresses comments made by Dana White.

MMAWeekly: Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White has been quoted as saying, “I don’t think Fedor is a top-five heavyweight in the world, and I’m not saying that because I didn’t get Fedor. I’ve always felt that way about Fedor and I always felt Randy Couture would beat Fedor … Fedor is a farce.” How do you feel about these comments?

Emelianenko: Dana talks a lot and uses words lightly. Let Randy Couture fight me. Allow this fight that everyone wants to take place. Me, Randy and MMA fans all over the world want it. The only obstacle is Dana.

MMAWeekly: What is your opinion of Randy Couture? He has announced publicly that at this point in his career you are the only fighter that he feels it is worth it for him to face in the ring.

Emelianenko: People want to see this fight and I want to meet him in the ring. I have the greatest respect for Randy and have always admired him. I am also thankful that he has such a high opinion of me.

MMAWeekly: Can you discuss your long-term goals in the M-1 organization? Where do you see the M-1 promotion, and Russian MMA in general, ten years from now?

Emelianenko: I trust in (M-1) and the good people that they have brought together. M-1 gives me the chance to meet champions from various organisations in the ring, instead of being restrained within the limits of one organization.

Fedor is scheduled to fight at Yarennoka! on New Year’s Eve in Tokyo. His opponent has yet to be named, but rumors are he will be fighting Hong Man Choi.

Yarennoka! will be put on by former employs of Dream Stage Entertainment (DSE) the same company which ran Pride FC. DSE stated that Yarennoka! is a one night farewell to PRIDE FC, but many think that they are testing to see if it is possible to create a new PRIDE by having multiple organizations share fighters. M-1 Global, K-1 and DEEP.

If its one thing I wont do its count randy out. I have done it so much in the past and regreted it. He is a tough son of a bitch. Fedor is obviously the favorite but its mma and anything can happen. I also think that Dana White doesnt want this fight to happen. He dont want to take a chance in seeing Fedor beat their heavyweight champ not being a fighter in the UFC. And its not gonna happen.

I don't see Randy winning but I don't think he will get destroyed either. I think that if the websites and blogs keep bringing interviews like this to the surface then the UFC will have to comply at some point. We buy the events and at some point they will feel some pressure to put this on. I hope it happends by sometime next summer.

i think randy would win…. unless he gets older the guy is amazing but eventually ur body catches up with you… i think randy has had stiffer competition as of late and fedor while an awesome champ with a great record isnt going to get any better if hes not being pushed by hard competitive fights… walkin through matt lindland whos a 185 pounder who couldnt beat rampage and goin the distance with mirko who has looked terrible lately and fighting a 44 year old over the hill mark coleman twice isnt going to do anything but give him false confidence… i think him and randy would be an awesome fight tho and i wouldnt be surprised seeing either one win. randy has more loses but he has faught harder competition i think but i am biased because i love randy so i would want him to win

I just hope Randy can make this happen within the next year. This is his second prime and he needs to take advantage. Staying out of the cage for a long time and distracting himself with a new lifestyle and movies isn't going to make him hungry or a better fighter. I want this right now because I think it would be a great fight. If it doesn't happen for a long time, both fighters will have changed and no telling how Randy will be for the fight.

this fight needs to happen in early 2008. randy is still under contract for another 4 months, or has one more fight left in the UFC. randy, fedor, and dana all white couture-emelianko. and as fans, we all know that would sell out the entire arena in vegas. i think the problem is with dana white, however. he is trying to monopolize and may UFC the single most dominant org… trying to stomp out eliteXC, WCF, etc… even M1 in russia.

i dont see fedor comming to the ufc anytime soon but if randys contract is up and how he has been bad talkin the ufc so much lately i could see him sign a one fight deal to M1 just to fight fedor that would be pretty awesome

Hell yeah, I bet Randy does just that too. He isn't afraid of losing and he isn't afraid of Fedor. He wants to fight the best unlike most champs. It will happen, watch, once the contract is up in 2008 Randy will work out a deal. Both will get rich and both will put it on the line for one last fight in Randy's career.

I don't care how it happens. I just want to see it happen. I think Randy has a good chance, but just like everyone said, time is on the side of Emelianenko. The longer it takes to happen, the more couture's chances decline.

This fight will be like liddell v Silva i think it will take a while to happen but it will be well worth it

As always with Dana White and Zuffa (UFC), its always about the money they don't care about the love of the sport, if they did they would allow a Fedor vs Randy fight. Since Dana couldn't get his slimey greedy paws on Fedor he wants to say Fedor isn't one of the top five heavyweights in the world (Bullshit). Zuffa destroyed Pride, we can only wish an other orgaization like Pride could establish it self in the MMA world.
