Interview With Paulo Filho: Dana White Is Scared To Put Him In The UFC!

Here is a good interview with Paulo Filho, discussing his future with Zuffa. I completely agree with Filho that Dana White is afraid of him wrecking havoc in the UFC. The original interview is in Portuguese, but here is the translation I found on MMANEWS.

UFC, Pride FC e WEC

Dana White have been saying out there that i’m not interesting for UFC right now, he’s going to keep me in Pride. I think he is scared that i beat his fighters, except for Anderson Silva. They wanna rebuilt Rich Franklin, Yushin okami sucks and almost caught him, if i was there, Franklin would get whooped. They don’t like brazilians, but they can’t hind, Anderson and I will rule UFC and Pride FC for a long time.

Joe Doerksen and problems with weight

He wants do decide the fight standing? Ok, it’s what he says, let’s see if he can actually do it. I can say that i’m blond and blue eyes, but it’ll only what i’m saying. I’m going to answer through the best way possible, into the octagon, fighting like i always did. I’m 93kg and i’m working to cut weight. Actually i’m a heavy weight, to have an idea, however i’m only 1,72 cm, my shoes number are 44 (i don’t know the amercian size, but it’s f***ing large) and clothes number are 46 (same thing about the shoes). I have to lost too much to make the weight, but i’m cool with that because i don’t have to face friends like Ricardo Arona in the 93kg division

Denying the rumors about his training with Rickson

It’s good talk about this, a lot of bullshit have been talked out there, if he heard the way like they’re are talking, my situation with him would be ruined. Rickson came to help me, nobody watched the training. He adjusted my game, like “that’s good, that’s not”, there was no big deal. For exemplo, when i was on his back he teach me some things that i was doing wrong, when he was on my back, i simply couldn’t even move.

The dude speaks the truth. Dana has his favs, like I've been bitchin' about all along. Good luck gettin a fight in UFC if you're not Franklin, Hughs, Liddel, etc. So many great fighters out there these days just waiting for a shot, what a fuc%ing waste. I don't know why they want to fight for UFC, the pay is shit. UFC73 looks like they finally put together a good card. But 72 sucked for the money. Bring it Filho, we need the someone to call Dana on his shit.

right now fighters are finally seeing that there are going to be better orgainizations that pay better and treat them with respect. But up until now, with the UFC buying Pride, there didn't seem to be many options because you dont want to go too long without fighting or making money.

Before and even now, you don't know who will make it…Bodog, EliteXC, KOTC, its like the stock market for fighters, who do you invest in.

Filho is a great fighter and its too bad that he signed a contract with the WEC.

Good points made Realwun. Elite put on a good show with Strikeforce, hope to see more of that. Hope some of these other Orgz. can put the presure on UFC to do right by the fighters & to put together decent fight cards. I guess it's just a wait & see now.

yeah well UFC is still and will always be top dawg. I think UFC is making hauge strides to help out the mma world and give fans what they want but if they wanted to go all out theywould put all of the best fighters in the UFC and not let other orgs. sign them like sokodjou and put Filho in WEC r u kidding me he is undefeated against great competition he should be givin a ufc fight and then a title shot he would smash Franklin and have a great fight with Anderson to become Middleweight champ

yeah I agree with steve on this one and also why dont they sign Kimbo the street fighter and put him against Tim Sylvia evryne would want to see that shit. Kimbo is the biggest street fight name maybe in the history of the internet and nobody likes tim sylvia so they would want to c Sylvia lose and so ppl would buy it and what if Kimbo won could you imagine how many fans he would get. Now thats a good idea!!!

UFC is all about marketing and Kimbo vs. Sylvia would be big for sure.

If the UFC wants to keep their monopoly for long, they are going to have to open up Pride. There are too many good fighters out there to have them all showcased in just the UFC, they have to spread them out and then have some cross challenges for big money.

Another thing I would bet on is that Tito Ortiz leaves the UFC if he loses to Rashaad.
