UFC has a perfect Super Bowl weekend offering for MMA fans. It’s going to be a light heavyweight fight between Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira which will be held on February 2, 2013.
The news of the matchup was first released by the Brazilian outlet Globo; it has been mentioned that verbal agreements were possibly set to plan for the much awaited bout however UFC has not yet released official comments yet regarding the contest as well as the event. This fight will surely be the most recent iteration of the promotion’s much awaited traditional show which is held every eve of NFL Super Bowl.
Rashad “Suga” Evans is a 33 year old fighter from Niagara Falls, New York, USA. He currently has an impressive report card of 17 wins, 2 losses and only one draw. His latest fight was a loss via unanimous decision against Jon Jones at the latest UFC 145 – “Jones versus Evans” in April 2012. Before he lost to Jones, Evans had 4 consecutive wins against superb fighters like Phil Davis, Tito Ortiz, Quinton Jackson and Thiago Silva. He also lost against Lyoto Machida in May 2009 at UFC 98 via knock out.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira or the “Minotoro” is a 36 year old fighter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This fighter has 20 wins and only 5 losses in his professional MMA career. His last win was against Tito Ortiz at the UFC 140 “Jones versus Machida” in December 2011 via technical knockout in just three minutes and 15 seconds of round 1. Before his win over Ortiz, Minotoro suffered a back to back loss from Ryan Bader and Phil Davis respectively> Over the course of his professional career, he has fought and was victorious over great fighters like Jason Brilz, Luiz Cane, Dion Starling, Vladimir Matyushenko and Todd Gouwenberg to name a few.
The fight between Rashad Evans and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will be a fight to remember especially when it will be shown eve of NFL Super Bowl.
