Largest US Satellite Provider DirecTV To Ditch VERSUS?

The World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) might take a hit on Sept. 1 if Comcast and DirecTV can’t come to an agreement on the cable channel VERSUS.

You may have seen a message on your TV screen saying that you may no longer receive the Versus channel after August 31, 2009. DIRECTV is in contract negotiations with Versus and we’re making every effort to keep the channel on the air without interruption….Versus is asking for terms which do not reflect the market and which they are not asking of all other distributors. DIRECTV wants to keep your monthly fees low, so it’s doing everything it can to avoid paying exorbitant programming fees. [DirecTV]

DirecTV is currently in about 23.2 million homes, including my own.

Versus offers featured sports from the National Hockey League, Pac-10, Big 12, Mountain West and Ivy League conferences, Tour de France bicycle race, Davis Cup Tennis, Professional Bull Riders (PBR), Indy Racing League and is currently the home of the WEC.
