Don’t go getting your hopes up for a Machida vs Shogun rematch anytime soon,

Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida’s manager Ed Soares:

“[Lyoto Machida] He had surgery yesterday on his left hand … The doctor said it was a complete success.”

“Lyoto can’t punch for at least six weeks, but most likely it will be about eight-to-ten weeks before he can start punching 100 percent. Most likely, he’ll be able to start training by mid-January.” [The Junkie]

Soares being the bearer of bad news also updates us that the Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort fight at UFC 108 will not likely take place.

“The latest is he’s not fighting Jan. 2 … That’s not going to happen. He won’t be ready.”

“We have to wait and see … Anderson went back to Brazil, and he’s continuing his physical therapy there. But there’s no set date yet.”

“At the end of the day, it’s going to be a great fight,” Soares said. “Like I said before, I don’t think [Belfort] deserves a title shot, but that’s over with now. It is what it is.”

Its not the UFC's fault that Machida got his ass kicked and has to have surgery and that Silva's elbow was injured and cant fight or that Lesnar got sick or Kurt hurt his back etc. Shit happens, stop blaming the UFC for everything go watch Strikeforce instead oh! right they suck :)

I wouldn't say Strikeforce sucks, thats a rather ignorant comment. But just like UFC alot of planned fights in the promotion dont actually happen. Diaz vs Riggs 2 turned to Diaz Vs Heiron which then turned to Heiron vs Jesse Taylor.

This is a very physical sport. Training is hard and injuries are common just like in most sports. There really is no need to blame the promotion.

yea but at the end of the day when these fights are getting cancled it is the ufc's fault when they replace them with fights people dont raly want to see, they claim to be the organisasion with all the best fighters but when the top fights have been getting cancled lately the "UFC" have ended up putting on shit cards. and i do watch other events like strikeforce and dream, i dont need the ufc to loose some big fights to watch other mma avents, and i know its not the fighters fault that they need to pull out but the ufc should have big back up fights for the fans not mediocre fights.

who do you suggest, then, sy? If you were Dana White….what big backups would you replace Lesnar/Carwin or Silva/Belfort with?

How can you call a fight that hasn't happened yet mediocre? And what are the 'mediocre fights' you speak of?

ok i would of kept griffin ortiz as the main event but i would of put todd duffy in there against a top contender and see how good this guy is b-cos if he beats a top guy then that means there would be another title contender in the hw div. intresting fight,

instead of waiting for silva belfort fight as silva has said he dosnt think he deserves a title shot yet anyways, and hendo messing about with his contract why not put marquardt v belfort for no1 contender

thats two good fights that could make for more good fights.

Personally I would have prefered Vitor to get a few fights under his belt at 185 (Say Leben, Quarry, CB Dolloway) Then fight for the title once he's been built up a bit..

In the mean time Sign Hendo and get Hendo vs Marquardt for No.1 Contender!

During this time give Anderson 1 more fight at LHW against Tito/Randy/Bones Jones!

Its kind of a random, stupid joke. It would be funnier if he was just that out of it.

No, its the matchmakers fault he should have a plan for this. He should take injury's into consideration, and have back up. Hendo vs Nate for #1 contender Belfort vs Leben,Quarry make bisbing drop wieght to 190/195. Shane vs Mir winner fights Nog looser fights winner out of Couture vs Vera(throw Kongo, gonzaga, Cro-cop,Velaquez into the mix) . Then by that time brock should be over his cold. Put it on SPIKE For FREE for the FANS!
