Mirko Cro Cop Signs Three Fight Contract Extention With The UFC

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Mirko Cro Cop has signed a three fight contract extension with the UFC. Last week it was reported that Lorenzo Fertitta flew to Croatia and offered Cro Cop a golden contract to stay with the UFC. In his first fight under the new contract, Cro Cop is expected to take on Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 on September 19th in Dallas, TX.

Following his win over Mustafa Al-Turk at UFC 99, Cro Cop was apparently in talks with the Japanese promotion DREAM, essentially snubbing his nose at the verbal contract he had with UFC President Dana White.

Dana White response after hearing the news that Cro Cop wouldn’t be upholding his verbal contract.

“Isn’t that a dirty (expletive) thing to do?” White asked rhetorically after being queried about Filipovic’s deal with DREAM. “He (expletived) me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he (expletived) me.”

“He didn’t keep his word … He talked about honor and all this other [expletive] and he [expletived] me.”

“He fed me this bull [expletive] about wanting to take a run for the title, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this. He turned down every other [expletive] fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.” [Yahoo Sports]

Dana White was quick to change his tune on Mirko Cro Cop

“I never had a problem with Mirko himself and I’m looking forward to having him fight for us again,” White said. “He’s said (his previous stint in) the UFC is the black mark on his career and he wants to do something about that.” [Yahoo Sports]

Well, they havn't annonced the main event yet, but i think Franklin will probably fight someone for the main event that night. I think it will be a good event maybe not great, but theres still some good fights scheduled like Trigg and Koscheck, Swick and Kampmann, also Cro Cop and Dos Santos.

Cro cop/dos santos winner in line for a shot at Brock…unless Carwin beats him first.

If Brock gets past cro cop, dos santos, carwin, and the nog/couture winner, then he'll just HAVE to give a golden contract to "you know who"…hey, he changed his mind on Cro Cop, and cro cop is past his prime, so maybe there's a chance. Dana DID say it'll happen eventually.

I'm sure if the brock and fedor fight does come true, you know who would win already (fedor). but i'm sure one of the guys lined up in the ufc to fight him would take him down. cro cop is a smart fighter, i'm sure he can do it. it's all about not getting into brock's rhythm. couture could even do it. on the other hand Frank kept getting taken down (how you suppose to take a 265 pound guy off top of you)?, and that mistake he did washe threw a knee up but couldn't quite hit him with it so he fell and that was that.

Carwin has to beat Velaquez and tbh I'm not 100% he can do that.

well frank rocked brock big time and if carwin gets his shot he punches like a train so i think he can ko brock but carwins chin looked suspect against gonzaga so i think it will be who hits who first defo ko in that fight tho.

i think carwin and borck could both KO eachother but mir didnt have brock in any trouble and he hit him with a savage knee.

mir didnt rock brock at all he caught him with two knees to the head which brock says dazed him for a split second but he immediatly took mir down in transition when mir hit that knee…face it its going to be extremely tough to beat this man..he keeps getting better and calmer each and e ery fight he looked very intense and relaxed against mir..he fucking dominated mir and ko'd him in mirs best position off his back..mir said he needs 10lbs more and he would beat him…hmm wasnt he @255 when they first fought and he got his ass beat up for most of the fight..and he came in @245 this time..so how is 10 lbs more going to help mir beat brock?…he needs to focus on wrestling and takedown defense..but the fact is brock will eventually take u down..he is just too powerful..also if he can take 2 hard knees to the face and still focus and end the fight..i think tbat mqy answer some ?'s on brock chin..as taking knees to tbe face is usually harder to absord than a punch is. also mir said he had brck in trouble? were and when was he in trouble? the knee part? cause obviously not since brock took him down with ease and finished him.
now, coming up lesnar will be facing some tough fights and it will be interesting to see how he does. i have a feeling he will be champ for at least the next year….so thats about 3 maybe 4 more fights, all i know is we will see a mir lesnar 3..sometime in the future if mir can regroup and score some wins or if lesnar happens to lose the title.

randy will beat nog, i think nogs days are numbered…

i agree tim if brock can get by carwin i dont see anybody taking the title from him for awhile unless fedor comes to the ufc after afflictions last show which woud be awesome.

    July 16, 2009 at 7:48 am

i think carwin was lucky to get by gonzaga, the only threat to lesnar in the ufc is carwin and gonzaga if he can beat those 2 he should hold the belt for awhile,of course unless they get fedor.

how about dos santos guys. He is was a champion kickboxer in Brazil with a record of 18-0. He is a technical stand up fighter and he could knock out gonzaga or carwin too.
