Mirko Cro Cop Signs Three Fight Contract Extention With The UFC

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Mirko Cro Cop has signed a three fight contract extension with the UFC. Last week it was reported that Lorenzo Fertitta flew to Croatia and offered Cro Cop a golden contract to stay with the UFC. In his first fight under the new contract, Cro Cop is expected to take on Junior Dos Santos at UFC 103 on September 19th in Dallas, TX.

Following his win over Mustafa Al-Turk at UFC 99, Cro Cop was apparently in talks with the Japanese promotion DREAM, essentially snubbing his nose at the verbal contract he had with UFC President Dana White.

Dana White response after hearing the news that Cro Cop wouldn’t be upholding his verbal contract.

“Isn’t that a dirty (expletive) thing to do?” White asked rhetorically after being queried about Filipovic’s deal with DREAM. “He (expletived) me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he (expletived) me.”

“He didn’t keep his word … He talked about honor and all this other [expletive] and he [expletived] me.”

“He fed me this bull [expletive] about wanting to take a run for the title, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this. He turned down every other [expletive] fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.” [Yahoo Sports]

Dana White was quick to change his tune on Mirko Cro Cop

“I never had a problem with Mirko himself and I’m looking forward to having him fight for us again,” White said. “He’s said (his previous stint in) the UFC is the black mark on his career and he wants to do something about that.” [Yahoo Sports]
