During a round table discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference, major TV execs had some not so kind words to say about the CBS EliteXC partnership orchestrated by current CBS CEO, Les Moonves.

CBS and Viacom split into separate companies in 2004.

Viacom (MTV and BET) Chairman Sumner Redstone,

“Les[CBS CEO] usually asks my opinion…the deal, struck with Elite Xtreme Combat, probably was a mistake, not because CBS won’t turn a profit from it but because it is not “socially responsible” to air the typically bloody bouts on free, broadcast TV.”

“I’m a lover not a fighter…I don’t like the sport.”

Fox Sports President Ed Goren,

“We don’t need money that badly.”

Is that social responsibility, or powerful individuals trying to force their opinions on the masses? If they want to be socially responsible, there is lots of stuff already on the air that needs to be cleaned up. I would argue that real fights between professionals, controlled by a referee, are much less corrupting than most of the fictional crap on TV.

Sumner Redstone bashing something that appeals to the 18-35 demographic?? Really?? NEVER!

He hasn't liked anything since Matlock.

    Just ask Howard Stern.

Sumner has no room to say anything, his channels promote alcoholism, substance abuse, glorify treating women as objects, and make peoples brains generally cry out in agony after about 5 minutes of air time.

He's out of touch, archaic, old, antiquated, (insert other adjectives here).

Mixed Martial Arts is a legitimate sport and a rising global phenomenon right now, it's drawing in people just as any other sport would and it's doing amazing business in the process.

The Fox Sports comment is ridiculous as well, Fox is currently negotiating to try to get MMA contracts up and running of its own. All of this is political posturing and double talk from old men in their golden plated bathrooms. It's bullshit and honestly shouldn't be given an ounce of thought.

For such old guys, they certainly need to grow up.

Basically guys what it comes down to is, if you dont like it change the channel. Nobody has a problem letting their kids play grand theft auto and other rather adult video game titles. No one has a problem with there kids watching people go through rehab, lie cheat steal and screw every person on an island for money (not screw in that sense), or just walk aroudn with all their bling on talking about guns and liquer and weed. So in the grand scheme it might teach some kids out there that if your gonna fight be a man and do it on your own dont have you and ten other girls lock some poor girl in a house and take turns beating on her. Our society is so fucking lost it is painful to watch. we have thousands of undetected child molesters on the streets were in a war but our big problem is a professional sport. CLUELESS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING CLUELESS.

Hey STEVEO, if you want to insult people's lack of intelligence, try spelling your message correctly. It would be more effective that way.

what i meant was I forgot to check the box so left another message because I was interested in what the rest of you thought and wanted your input, but hey your the spelling police and for the record I am typing this on the shittiest laptop ever, government issued. Sorry I hurt your feelings.

All these regular channels have all sorts of bad programming on tv. Elite XC is going to show fighting, where NO ONE dies and most of the fighters are respectful of eachother. It isn't a show where people are banging eachother left and right and shooting and killing eachother. Are you fucking kidding me? There are shows about sex, rape, murder, theft, drugs and disrespect. Yeah, all natural fighting is a horrible choice for tv.
