Nick Diaz Will Fight Mayhem If The Pay Is Right

nick diaz saying hello

Strikeforce middleweight champion Nick Diaz told press during today’s media conference call,

“I’d like to get paid something extra. Double, triple, something crazy for me to do something extra that would screw up my weight to fight at that weight. I’m not just doing it for free when I’d make the same money to fight at 170-pounds. It’s twice as much work. I never didn’t want to sign for that fight with Miller. They were talking about making me move weights. I said tell his ass to get in f*cking shape and make weight like I do. It’s f*cking hard enough for me to make 170-pounds. He acts like he wouldn’t be able to do it, he doesn’t want to work hard like me, that’s the problem. He can work his ass off and make 170-pounds or 175-pounds or somebody can pay me a f*cking couple million dollars and I’ll move up to 185-pounds and fight him. Or he can quit getting f*cking slapped in public, I know somebody’s got that sh*t on video tape. That motherf*cker doesn’t want to fight me.”

You can’t blame Nick for wanting some more cash to jump up in weight. If this fight is going to happen, all three parties are going to have to bend a little to get it done.

If nick wants the money so bad why did he sign that so called multi year deal with strikeforce? He is starting to sound like a whiner. And to think i thought he was tough once. 2 million bucks to fight mayhem? Man thats some damn good weed he is smokin.

He does not want the money so bad.

He does want compensation for having to switch to another weight for just one fight.

Remember, switching weight classes has ruined great fighters in the past. It is not a good ideal. It's not just your physical weight, it's the calibration of your prowess at a different scale. It absolutely ruined Roy Jones.

So why not a catch weight? Makes no sense for Mayham to drop to 170. This sounds like excuses to me.

diaz is the champ at 170.. i thought originally that diaz agreed to catch weight of 178 and mayhem wouldnt go below 183.. why should diaz have to put on 13 pounds to mayhem's 2.. plus with him being the champion and only having defended his belt one time why should he have to make the jump up? if mayhem wants the fight so bad he needs to try and make 170.. he did it against gsp..

It's crazy! The champion has to compromise for the challenger?

it wouldn't be for his belt so being the champ does not matter, this is a personal fight and fight alot of fans would like to see i don't blame diaz for wanting more money he would deserve it for stepping up in wieght. he also has fought twice at mw so why not now? i say pay him extra and make the fight happen, not 2 million but somethig fair.

Diaz has agreed in the past and again states that he will fight Miller at 175. We can all agree that Diaz has had his immature moments but he is being reasonable by compromising. Miller is the one that won't budge. I agree with Mac and with Diaz that moving up or down is not easy and can affect the fight and possibly even a career. I would love to see this fight but we can't blame Diaz if it does not happen.

i realize it would not be for the belt but what i'm saying is why not let diaz defend his title at least 2 more times or so… i too would really like to see this fight but it would not be smart on diaz part to make the jump in weight because it could really damage his career.. i think mayhem is just scared of diaz deep down because he knows that diaz would own him in the cage..

i agree he should just fight at 170 and defend that belt, but he didn't have a problem fighting shamrock or scott smith at mw whats the problem now? and he didn't mind jumping miller.

he also was not the champion at 170 when he fought shamrock or smith…and it wasnt smart of mayhem to jump in the ring in nashville because it is true that the cesar gracie camp is a bunch of thuggish dudes and thats what happens when you bump your gums at thuggish dudes… i really think mayhem has just talked a lot of smack and is worried that he might not be able to back it up in the cage… i mean dont get me wrong, i want to see diaz trash mayhem.. im a huge fan of the diaz bros and hell im even a fan of mayhem…i just think if mayhem really wants the fight, he needs to work hard and get into shape…

I cannot stand Nick….I feel Shamrock is better then nick

lets see a re-match and watch frank beat him….

Since Shamrock retired, that is proably not going to happen. As much as some people may hate Nick, he is good. I like Nick but I can also see why some would hate him. Love him or hate him, he is good.

i see your point about him being champ but they really don't have many fighters at that weight that can give him a fight. cyborg than daly than what? they might as well make this fight happen.

i do agree with you there roy… i would like to see cyborg, then daley, and then mayhem, and hopefully then he could maybe make the jump to ufc…roy i must say its nice to see that there are people on this site who can debate in a civilized manner without all the name calling and what not…
