Chael Sonnen was on hand today at the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) meeting to ask for a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) for testosterone replacement therapy for his upcoming fight with Anderson Silva in Vegas.

Commissioner Keith Kizer made it clear, TUE it does not allow you to test outside of normal ranges. It only allows for presence of synthetics in the body.

The NSAC granted Chael Sonnen a temporary exemption For his UFC 148 fight with Anderson Silva. Sonnen’s exemption comes with with the condition on injections prior to the fight and he must be tested at his own expense the day after his fight with Anderson. Up next, Nick Diaz…

WOW they are going to let him inject synthetics into his body for his fight with silva. This is a strange ruling by the nsac,as long as he does not exceed the normal ranges. This is truly a remarkable moment in testing. so does that mean that any fighter can now ask for TUE? This will be a game changer because who knows what can be hidden with these TUE injections. Does anyone remember Balco?

So now we're not only going to have guys fighting at 20+ lbs over their weigh in weight. They're going to be getting approved to get their testosterone levels to the very highest allowed by athletic commissions. Now I get why a lot of fighters say that the fight is won in the day leading up to the fight.

Bo surprised at anything NSAC…but why does he all of a sudden need it? I don't recall him asking for an exception to use in his 2 previous matches since his suspension. Is it because he needs it against Silva? This guy is a phony!!!

It's taking the competitive advantage to a whole new level. Over the years everyone started taking a page from the wrestling handbook and cutting 20 lbs for their division. Now they are going to start testosterone loading to peak at the limits the NSAC puts forward. I think we'll be hearing about more fighters doing exactly this try to get a competitive advantage.
