Quinton Rampage Jackson Quits! “I’m Done Fighting”

Quinton Rampage Jackson posted this letter on his official website,

I’m done fighting..

The UFC has done a lot for me but I think I have done more for them. The UFC bought WFA to get my contract & they saved my life, so I felt loyal to them. They pushed me into a fight with Chuck Liddel even when I clearly stated I wasn’t ready to fight for the belt because the American fans didn’t know me but I took the fight and didn’t complain & after I won the American fans booed me for the first time which changed the way I saw them & it hurt me deeply.

Then before I can even get out of the cage they announced that I was fighting Dan Henderson without even asking me. After I beat Dan Henderson, I made history in becoming the first undisputed champion in MMA but was never even given the pride belt in the cage & I was never promoted as the undisputed champ. Later Anderson Silva was.

Then they had me coach TUF season 7 and fight Forrest and the fight was very controversial & normally when a fight is that close & controversial there is normally an instant replay. I can name a couple of instances. Instead they offered me the Vanderlei Silva fight which I gladly accepted even though I know it was a very risky fight for me to take because of all the drama that was happening to me at the time. I fought that fight with a jaw injury and then a couple weeks later Dana called me and asked me to fight Rashad. For the first time I said no, I didn’t want to fight because it was such short notice & I wouldn’t have had a long break between camp. Dana talked me into fighting Rashad anyway but Rashad refused the fight and so I had to fight Jardine as a favor to the UFC instead of getting my belt back (which wasn’t even worth it to me financially).

Then I reinjured my jaw in the fight with Vanderlei & Jardine. Frank Mir gets hurt so they wanted to switch my fight from UFC 100 to the fight Frank couldn’t make it to but I couldn’t fight cause I needed jaw surgury. So they give Machida the fight against Rashad & they told me they want me to coach TUF season 10 against Rashad. That’s why I wanted Rashad to win so bad but when Rashad got knocked out I told them I wanted to fight Machida for the belt but Dana told me if I coach TUF against Rashad that I could fight Machida afterwards cause this was a different type of ultimate fighter show they were doing. After I signed the contract Dana then changes his mind & says I have to fight Rashad & even told me what to say in the press & so my fans think I was scared to fight Machida. After all that I still never complained & I did it all.

Then this movie role came about that I have been trying to get for over a year & as soon as I found out I was close to getting it, I called Dana right away & asked to push the Memphis fight back just a month or so. I told him what this movie role meant to me. I told him that I used to bond with my father watching the tv show as a kid when my parents where still married & it represents the memories I had with my father when we lived together. My dad became an alcohalic & addicted to drugs & we grew apart. But after my dad got his life back together, I was so proud of my dad & I told him I would always take care of him in the future & make him proud of me. My dad & I are still very big fans of the show & I am basically doing this for the childhood memories I had spending time in front of the tv with my dad. Dana went on the internet & mocked me because of that & I still did nothing. Dana & I finally talked & we made up & then after that he went back on the internet & said some bullshit & he was talking bad about the movie when information is not even supposed to be released & talking about payments which is not even true could really hurt my future acting career, which could very well last longer than my fighting career. I’m not like Randy Couture. My body has been getting so many different injuries that I wont be able to fight until my forties & neither do I want to fight that long. So I feel like my second career could be in jeopardy.. so I’m done fighting. I’ve been getting negative reviews from the dumb ass fans that don’t pay my bills or put my kids though college. So I’m hanging it up. I’m gonna miss all my loyal fans but hopefully they’ll follow me to my new career & I will gain more loyal fans along the way. & all you hater fans out there can kiss my big black hairy ass! & anybody that don’t like what I just said can come try to kick my ass!

I still feel the UFC is a great organization and I felt like I was very loyal to them but they didn’t respect my loyalty but I wish the UFC the best. I did a lot of things for them. I wish no bad blood between us but I have kids & a family back in Memphis to provide for & thats all that matters to me!

Shocking news for Rampage, just as Dana White announced at the UFC 103 post fight press conference the two had made up and are on speaking terms again.

Props: Watch Kalib Run for the tip

    September 22, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Well he provided a lot of valid reasons for not wanting to fight anymore. I don't know if I could put up w/all that crap even if I did get a good paycheck.

    lol @ tom

wow. i came on here to see if there was a clip of chuck looking like a fool and got blind sighted. yeah it really sucks. i like dana but sometimes he talks too much shit if he doesn't get his way. rampage is an emotional guy so hopefully this was just a drunken message, but probably not.

Nooooooo…… man how can rampage hang um up at the top of his game at the fuckin peak of his fighting career….. rampage is my favorite fighter im not tryin to be a dick rider or nothin but this is truly sad news for me

    September 22, 2009 at 1:27 pm

He's one of my favs too. Seems like he's been discouraged lately and this IS a dumb move for him cause he'll regret it. He will probably try to make a come back but will be past his prime.

If Rampage is such a fan of Mr. T he should have learned that even he was pretty much a one hit wonder. He had Rocky III and then the A-Team. Then nothing. All I can say is he's not going to get Denzel's roles so I don't know why he would quit fighting. Look at the Rock. He's going to end up doing nothing but dumb B-movies for kids.

    September 22, 2009 at 1:42 pm

While I'm not a fan of Rampage…guess he wants me to kiss his hairy ass and appearantly he missed the fact that as a UFC PPV PURCHASER: I DO pay his bills and help put his kids through college. So for that remark he can kiss my ass too. Thanks for that respect Rampage. That said…

I would do exactly what he did, and probably sooner. I thought Dana was a dick for complaining about Rampage taking the movie roll to begin with. Dana seems like a controlling prick to me. He wants it his way or no way. From what Rampage says; he took a lot of crap and sounds like he bent over backward to work with the UFC. Dana should be happy for him to get this role for the reasons he gave and more. I am.

I wish Rampage all the best in his acting career…and will probably become a fan now that he's not kicking Liddell's ass. (I really DID want to see Liddell v Jackson III: The tide turns. :)

  10. Oswald Gobblecock

    September 22, 2009 at 2:09 pm

Liddell isn't gonna fight again either… and if he does it wouldn't be Rampage! Not at this point, he'd probably fight Coleman. lol I don't think Dana was a dick because Rampage said he would fight Rashad after the show and he wanted to fight Rashad after the show so Dana should be mad that he pulled out to do a movie instead of fighting Rashad. The fight would lose a bit of interest as more time after the season went by and would lower PPV buys so of course Dana would get mad at that. He's a fighter, not an actor and this new career he's speaking of won't last. He hasn't even done the movie yet and he thinks he'll get more offers?! The boy is crazy, just like when he played GTA but in real life!

told you guys Dana was a jerk. almost 50% of the fighters have had it with Dana. Now I'm starting to think that Tito is cool. Remember the way he treated Jon Fitch.

Even Anderson Silva said that Dana doesn't pay me enough

    September 22, 2009 at 2:24 pm

this could get ugly legally.. rampage not fulfilling his contract that he signed..

  13. Al

    September 22, 2009 at 2:31 pm

retiring – just can't fight for anyone else unless he does fulfull his contract in the ufc – if he eer does – i think hes just on a little tantrum – we'll see him fighting in 8 months time

    September 22, 2009 at 2:52 pm

WWWFFFTTT???? WOW!!! This IS shocking. I didn't see this coming… Damn, this sucks. Not saying i'm a big fan of him but I did really enjoy watching him fight.

    September 22, 2009 at 3:37 pm

Rampage is all talk… ya he's going to retire on a close decision win over jardine… right

Rashad should just start talking mad shit until rampage mans up and fights him

  16. Joey

    September 22, 2009 at 4:16 pm

Rashad's not a prick so he's not going to talk shit about this. Rampage will be back I'll bet on that. But not for a while till he ends up like the Rock and getting rolls in Miley Cyrus's next movie.

    September 22, 2009 at 9:49 pm

i hope this is lies. Rampage is one of the guys i ALWAYS make sure i watch fights, he brings his game and delivers a good fight (even if its not A game.)

i really hope Rampage changes his mind, i was one of the jackson fans who predicted and cheered him when he owned Chuck.

What is sad is Dana does not pay his fighters all that much. If you look at what boxers make mma fighters dont make anything in the UFC.

I can see why some of the ex UFC guys left because they wanted more money.

Hey if you are going to put your body through torture go where the money is at.

We can all say what we want. We all would do the same thing.

I am now curious who is going to come in and take rampages place on the show. this is going to be interesting.

I would like for them to bring in Anderson Silva. That would be awesome. I could see it now Silva beat Rashad into the ground in the octagon and then play air guitar like in did in one of his last fights after he destroyed an opponent.

I dont think Rashad would be a cocky if he knew he had to fight Anderson Silva.

hey rampage who bailed your hairy black ass out of the joint after you went through town running over people in your dumb monster truck . as for pay mma cannot pay what boxing pays yet look at the orgs who tried , all bankrupt. dana pays them far more then they were making before the ufc.

  24. sy

    September 23, 2009 at 12:22 am

    he wont quit

  25. T.R.

    September 23, 2009 at 12:58 am

the ultimate fighter is finished taping. Rampage is on every episode but i don't think this will hurt it's ratings. It could just make rampage look stupid for talking shit on the show to rashad and now we will never see the fight.

this sucks cuz i love watching rampage fight.

  26. tom

    September 23, 2009 at 1:39 am

yo other tom change your name or put a number 2 by your name..

  27. fino

    September 23, 2009 at 2:12 am

Rampage is right. Or this only builds more drama for a Rashad fight and if Rashad ever gets the title back I'd guess Rampage might have second thoughts about coming back.

I still like him for this role on the A-Team movie and think it will do very well at the box office. Maybe make Rampage a household name like Mr. T .

  28. tom

    September 23, 2009 at 3:01 am

I don't think this retirement is gonna last long. Rampage will be back.

  29. Tim

    September 23, 2009 at 3:27 am

Heat of the Moment thing, plus Rampage has a big head literally but big head about him being a movie star which wont last too long in my opinion. He will be back.

  30. Michelle

    September 23, 2009 at 3:34 am

Dana is a dick, but like previously stated, the lower paying orgs are the only ones to yet go bankrupt, when orgs go bankrupt MMA fans suffer too.

  31. rhetro

    September 23, 2009 at 4:28 am

this whole speach makes rampage sound like a pussy. he's making it sound like he didnt want to fight the toughest competition and just wanted a bunch of easy fights. i dont think dana would be doin that to one of his friends. i dont think that rampage would let himself sound like he was scared of machida cuz dana wanted him to.

  32. Poppynick

    September 23, 2009 at 4:51 am

Hey Tom, you cupping the balls while you choke on Dana. I'm glad Q made this decision, it will suck not to see him fight but fuck Dana White. He is a fucking tool and a crybaby. He will one day ruin the UFC becuase he is such an ego maniac. Good luck Q and I hope to see you fight again.

    September 23, 2009 at 6:36 am

now all you people who talk shit about fedor, see why he dosent come to the ufc dana white is a absolute dumbass! Good luck Rampage you are going to need it! More than likely we will see him agin in the ring. MAN IF FEDOR EVER QUITS AND GOSE TO THE MOVIE BUISSNISS IM DONE WITH MMA. all this shit is getting out of wack. Sort of like dat bullshit fake wrestling. I have been a fan of mma for years and spent alot of money on pay per veiw just to watch these guys do what they do best: FIGHT:! Not act in ragged ass movies! ERIC SAID IT BEST WE AS FANS DO HELP MMA FIGHTERS PAY THEIR BILLS SOME BODYS GOT TO PURCHASE THE CLOTHING AND THE DVDS AND THE PAY PER VEIWS! I just hope no one else quits to go to the movie buissnes.

    September 23, 2009 at 7:42 am

so whats going on is he still fighting rashad or is he retiring his contract????? anyone???????

  37. steve

    September 23, 2009 at 8:18 am

To other derek. He said he was DONE fighting period. No more fights. No rashad no anything that invloves stepping into the cage again unless its a movie. My prediction is he will be back in the cage in a year. I think Chuck will be back aswell. But who fucking knows anymore. Dana White does whats best for the ufc not the fighters. That is why so many people talk shit about him. You cant blaim him or the fighters. It's business. Rampage can make much more money acting with less work. Sounds good for him. Just dont know what real roles after this he can pull off. Dont see him as a Jean Claude or bruce lee lol.

  38. roy

    September 23, 2009 at 9:06 am

you right steve the only movie he wil get after this is a-team 2, but i see this blowing over real quick and him fighting after this movie.

  39. King kong.

    September 23, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Dana does what is best for him.

i mean honestly do you think that Chuck would not sell out PPV events?

he felt bad for Chuck therefore he let him go (they're friends, who wants to see a friend get hurt like Chuck has been doing?)

losing Jackson will mean loss of money for UFC AND Dana hes more bothered than he lets on but he has no real choice, Dana knows if Rampage says he never wants to fight again due to his health and safety….. well he'll win that court case. (unlikely Randy who wanted to carry on fighting elsewhere.)

i'll be a fan of Jackson's no matter what he chooses to do as he's a good guy with a good sense of humour, i hope he can act, not seen anything with him acting yet so.

dude, you wanker…you have a serious hating hard on for dana. get off of his dick and just let it go, man. seriously.

    or, in your language…

hope you get hit by a lorrie while crossing the street puffing a fag and jabbing with yer mum on the ole dog and bone and coming down your rickety ass apples and pears immediately following wanking your scrote to pictures of dana white.

oi! now piss off! jolly good. well done. cheers!
