It seems like for the past few months, there has been little to no MMA news or hype. I am not sure what happened but I don't recall the MMA scene being this quiet for a long time. Sure there have been times when there was just no news but that time period would be, at most, a couple weeks- but this is now going on a couple months. Yes, there has been some big news such as UFC buying SF, the spectacular kicks (Petis' ninja kick, Silva's face kick, and machida's face kick), the twister being used as a sub…but MMA has seemed to be laying low for about 5 or 6 months now. As much as Dana got on my nerves with his rants against fighters or other promotions, we have not seen that lately and I would be happy to hear him go off. We have not really seen any new amazing talent (Jones does not count because you saw that coming a couple years ago after the Bonner fight, Petis looks good but not sure how he will do with Edgar or Maynard). There just does not seem to be a buzz about MMA lately. And it is not just this site neither. i go on other sites and even subscribe to 2 MMA mags and they have been a pretty quick read lately. MMA needs something to put some energy and spark back into this. As far as fights go, i am not realy excited about seeing Edgar VS maynard 3 at some point when they both heal and I don't think anyone can beat GSP, AS, or Jones for a while…maybe dana should just fold SF and bring thiose fighters into the UFC mix. The winner of the SF HWT Tournament should take on Cain to unify the title. I was not a fan of only having one big player out there but at the same time i thought that one pro of having only one promotion would mean a deeper pool of better fighters and should one get hurt in camp before a fight, you would have another good fighter waiting in the wings to take his place- but that has not been the case. We have cntinued to see top fighters go down with injuries, which is expected, but then there is really nobody there to replace them. The only time that this worked recently and it worled like a charm was when Rashad went down and Jones stepped in to fight Rua. There also seems to be a long time between events lately when you have other periiods of time when you an event every other week. Maybe it is just me but MMA news and bzz has been brutal lately.

seems to me like the big news is injuries. but talking about bringing in strikeforce, there are rumors flying around. it's speculated that nick diaz and gsp may be coaching the next TUF. i hope they officially announce that soon.
