That's right!!!! Please, everyone hating on GSP, Rashad, and claim that certain fighters are "boring" because they "lay and pray"…PLEASE listen to this entire piece. Rashad breaks it down perfectly for everyone. It's MMA, not boxing. Be a fan of MMA if you're going to be a fan of MMA. Otherwise, don't complain about it…cause you just look kinda dumb. Sorry, but that's the truth. MMA is not boxing, and there are multiple ways to win. You either like MMA or you don't.

Cobra – I do agree but some of these guys are not fighting to win, they fighting not to lose and it becomes so boring. The Gracie VS Shamrock Superfight in UFC V has a 30 minute fight time, the first time the UFC ever did that and the reason that they did it was because they did not want Royce to lay there for 4 hours but at the same time, they were not sure that Shamrock could finish him. I want to see action. if they are down then the guy on the bottom is working his guard and the guy on top is trying to pass, I am real GOOD with that but if you have a guy just sitting in someone's guard, throwing a punch here and there, then they stand them up and 30 seconds later he takes him down again and he throws 2 punches every thirty seconds…that is just plain boring. A good fighter is going to have a strategy and realize when he has to be defensive and when he has to go for the finish. I like GSP alot but I want him to finish at least one guy…he has dominated but not finished the top 4 guys-Koz, Jon, Thiago, and Hardy. As kenflo puts it – LETS FINISH FIGHTS!

  4. Rampage

    June 18, 2010 at 9:30 am

What a lot of you turkey's don't realize is that Rampage was fighting with a hurt knee so he couldn't perform at his best, his car ran out of gas, he got a flat tire, there was a flood, an earth quake, it wasn't his fault! I swear to god!

    June 18, 2010 at 9:35 am

if you dominate a guy and hit him for 25 minutes and its not done and you cant finsh it with a submission something is wrong

GSP is a great striker and i'm sure he can knock out most guys. But the thing is that he choses to Lay and pray but we know he can stand and bang with the best. Cmon GSP lets see the old you when you did the sick Kyokushin moves and great technical boxing

Again…..watch the video above, and listen to what Rashad says to all of your complaints. Especially when he talks about game plan and strengths.

Cobra, I just watched the video and I agreed with everything he said…you would be stupid to not fight your fight, but, because there are so many aspects to MMA, then do something else. He has great wrestling, well you are not going to ground and pound everyone so learn some submissions. I don't expect him to stand toe to toe. If anything, I like the ground game more but there is more the ground game than ground and pound. When was the last time you saw Rashad, GSP, Mardquart, Jardine, Guillard, or Carwin submit anyone? So to your point that there is more to MMA than just boxing, isn't submissions a hug part?….because really, not counting a DQ, there are 3 ways to win, by decision, KO (and I am counting all knockouts the same wherethere is a KTFO or a TKO) and submission. The only one that boxing does not have is submission. So I stand by what I say. I like the ground game more than stand-up, but it has to be active….and I just don't consider solely throwing punches as being active. To me active is trying to pass to side control and working from there, possibly moving to knee on the belly, the mount, or eye position….but do something.

You can also win if your opponent gives up like Penn did in his first bout with GSP

The sad thing is most of the things he said were true, hate to admit it but Rashad u are correct

When I first started watching UFC about 5 years ago I was all for KO's and hated the ground game. I think after a while you appreciate all aspects. Now the clinch and being denied in someones guard is always going to be a little boring, but you can't have all excitement all the time.

Rashad did a good job his last fight. He didn't hit and run or lay and pray…it looked like he did damage and pressed the action. He was a little quicker than Rampage. I'm not a Rashad fan or thought it was fight of the night, but he did his job and is a pretty good MMA fighter. I mean, not many guys can put Rampage on his ass so that's something.

I agree, P4P. I'm not saying I don't love a good slug-fest. Those are definitely the most exciting fights. However, I love a good tactical jitz battle, too. If a fight is getting boring or there's too little action then it's the ref's job to stand them up if they're not doing anything.

Maybe a good solve would be reinstating something like Pride's Yellow Card penalty for not trying to advance position enough?

I'm a Muay Thai guy first, then I learned Krav and Jitz. I never wrestled, but that doesn't mean I don't respect and appreciate the skillset and artistry of controlling someone and using leverage to your advantage. These days, everyone needs to not just learn and commit to different disciplines, but also to defense and preventing your opponent from taking you down and laying on top of you for 15-25 minutes.

Fact check: BJ's corner threw in the towel in their second fight.

Hey, I forgot about the yellow card that Pride had. I love it! If I recall correctly, getting a yellow card meant that 10% or so of their purse was taken away-not given to anyone else, just taken from them. I am all for that. Without a doubt, we would see more aggresive fights and we would not even have to see the ref stand them/separate them as much because all he would have to do is warn them once or twice and the by the third, they would both or possibly one of them would get the yellow card. In the spirit of the World Cup going on right now, I say we put the yellow card starting tonight :)

Cobra, it is a good thing you have no life and were posting at 12:48 am yesterday- just kidding! Good memory on the yellow card. Pride has been gone, what like 5 years now. I totally forgot about it.

P4P #1 Fan: Gracie vs Shamrock was

    31:06 plus 5 minute overtime.

Three different sources including Wikipedia (the most credible I could find) all claim the fight had a time limit put on it at the last minute because of PPV time constraints.

I'd like to see the source from where you got this idea that "they did not want Royce to lay there for 4 hours" considering how fast Royce was able to Sub Ken in the First UFC.

I have a life, and was out all day which is why I was posting that late when I got back. But since you were posting at 5:35am, I wouldn't exactly call the kettle black, sir.

You kids never cease to amaze me with your cattyness. Grow up already.

Everyone on this site is so angry. Miko so but unlike you, I don't every waking hour on the internet, I have a life. I don't have time to research a fight to second. I have read some of your recent posts and you make no points of your own. All you do is jump on others for their posts or "report" news. This aint CSI. Grow up. I think you seriously need to get laid but I realize that is not going to happen so get yourself some lube.

Cobra-you too..it looks like Panda threw in a just kidding after his comment.

Nothing but a bunch of Napolianic Complex mother's on this site.

You said something that I'd never heard before so I said what is public knowledge and inquired about your "facts"

Judging by your reaction, you're the one who's "angry" and you were clearly making shit up.

When people exaggerate to the point of lies and pull facts out of their asses I call them on it because misinformation is fucking weak. Trying to pass off rumors and theories as truth is what brats in high-school do.

btw/ I didn't know putting up links to MMA RELATED stories and NEWS was such a faux-pas on an MMA NEWS SITE!

Unless cage has a problem with it. I'll "report" the news as much as I want. it's not like I'm the only one doing it.

I think that P4P and Cobraclutch are the same poster. They are always agreeing with eachother and they write and even whine about the same stuff. Me thinks that CobraClutch has much less of a life than he claims…

I have not posted for about 9 months now…it has been a while. I have kept up with the news on the site but I have been to busy to post.

Today was the first day that I had free time in a long while and caught up on some the posting that occured in my time away from posting. The same shit talkers continue to be idiots with no life that just like jump in and trash others. While we don't know you personally, it is easy to see that guys like Miko and Oswald Gobelmycock have been picked on all of their lives and have to be the big shots behind the keyboard. Debating and having different points of views is awesome. But always having to challenge someone and always be right, these guys are extremely unsecure about their manhood. I hope that this helps you and the others like you, fell like real men because this about as close as you'll ever be to being one. Guys like BJJ Brown Belt, P4P, Rich S and Cobra, don't let these morons get to you. It was great catching up on your posts.

Wouldn't it be great if cage checked the Ip's of all the posters and then posted how many names are the same guys?

It's so obvious there's like two, maybe tree brats using five names each

Agreed Miko. I also think that Cage should come over to my place in L.A. and watch some War Machine Porno's with me.

War Machine is so HOT, he's got such a great physique, that's why I love watching him in Porno's.

Wouldn't it be weird Miko, if there was only one guy posting on this entire site. I'd invite him over to my house in L.A. o watch War Machine Porno's.

You people realize that Cobraclutch IS Cage don't you?

  24. Oswald Gobblecock

    June 20, 2010 at 2:47 pm

Rashad fails to realize that people wouldn't be annoyed with the wrestling if he could actually finish the fight. Same with GSP! To say it's MMA and not boxing is a lame and overused argument from people who can't present a decent one.
