Renzo: Nerves Are To Blame For Rolles Gracie’s Embarrassing Performance At UFC 109

Legendary Fighter and trainer Renzo Gracie,

“It was embarrasing. I can tell you he wasn’t in that bad of shape. Fact is the nerves drained him of his energy. His stand up and ground work looked bad, nothing at all like he was doing in training leading up to the fight and it was if he couldn’t hear what I was telling him. I think the pressure he put on himself overwhelmed him. He’ll learn and be back.” [GracieFighter]

Older cousin Renzo Gracie thinks the pressure of the show was to blame for Rolles terrible performance at UFC 109, not the lack of cardio or training. Rolles was literally rolled by late replacement Joey “The Mexicutioner” Beltran in the first fight of the night.

Rolles debut was to mark the return of the legendary Gracie’s to the UFC, a organization built on the family name. Renzo will have his chance, as he returns to the UFC to face Matt Hughes at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.
