Ronda Rousey, Strikeforce bantamweight champion will be the first female to join UFC. This is according to a report to TMZ.com. Insiders also mention that the champion’s move will coincide with the folding of Strikeforce this coming year.
Zuffa, Strikeforce’s parent company on the other hand, has not yet released any official statement on the matter. Reports only state that Rousey is expected to defend her bantamweight title at UFC in 2013. There were no mentions of any dates or opponent that will be fitted for the champ. News for this event will surely be announced early next year as the fighter prepares for her bug switch and her next big opponent.
Strikeforce on the other hand is preparing for a round of shows for January 12, 2013. This day will feature a trio of impressive fighters like Gilbert Melendez, Nate Marquardt and Luke Rockhold; these superb fighters will fight against Pat Healy, Tarec Saffiedine and Lorenz Larkin, respectively. This all out fighting event will take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City which will air in Showtime.
