Roy Jones Jr. proved he was just to fast for Felix Trinidad, as he secured the convincing unanimous decision win Saturday night.

Jones was able to knock down Trinidad in the 7th and the 10th rounds, wining the fight unanimously on all three judges score cards 116-110 on two judges score cards and 117-109 by the other.

Jones started the fight slowly taunting Trinidad in the first three rounds. He was able to man-up and put together some strong counter punches as the fight went on.

Knocking down Trinidad in the 7th and the 10th sealed the win for the 39 year old fighter.

Ok that’s it for boxing back to MMA……

No suprise here. Trinidad hasn't fought in 3 years and came for the payday. Jones actually has a comeback plan and wants to fight the top guys before he retires. I would have bought this but I don't even know any of the undercards anymore. I would be paying 50 dollars for fighters that used to be the best.

I actually bought and watched both… and the boxing was vastly superior tonight (which has not happened in years) UFC always brings it on the PPV cards… perhaps they should have added the Swick vs Burkman fight here instead of Spike… Either way… Jones was looking like it was 1998 all over again and is well on his way back to the top. He looked VERY fast… I mean VERY fast… like Faster than Floyd Mayweather fast and at 40 years old and coming all the way back down from heavyweight over the years, I'd say thats pretty impressive. Also, a 40 year old Andrew Golota had a nice showing as a heavyweight and didn't even cause a riot or punch anyone in the balls. The UFC card was alright… (posting the results on the website before the actual PPV prolly wasn't such a great idea as fa as sales went) but BJ Penn looked good out there and Joe Daddy seemed to be in shock at 1st, but settled down and had an okay showing.. altho the entire fight looked like he was trying to not get beat as opposed to going for a win. ALTHOUGH, look for the imagery of his bloody face getting choked out to be in Previews and Commercials for years to come because that was classic. I Love UFC but there is no match for a Roy Jones show, and he really did put on a nice one tonight… him and Floyd Jr really have showmanship in there blood…(so does sean sherk.. that was good stuff from him, coming out to confront BJ after BJ started talking.. then BJ didn't have much to say)

ALSO.. in case anyone disagrees that Boxing was the better show tonight… just ask CHRIS LEBEN (He was in Jones' corner tonight)

WTF. Leben was in Jones corner? That doesn't make any sense to me at all. They must be in a movie together or something. The UFC event was full of Kos and cuts, blood all over the canvas. I can't see the boxing PPV being that good compared to the quick Ko's of the UFC. Fuk Sherk…they have him commentate on the title fight like this was the WWE. That was the stupidest shit I have ever seen in MMA. Dana is really making a circus of the Sherk vs. Penn situation. That was disrespectful to BJ to have Sherk be the commentator to that fight.

umm. chris leben wasn't in roy's corner. i saw the fight. the only white guy in roy's corner was the cutman, and he was definitely not chris leben. i'm surprised roy actually made weight at 169.5, considering he went up to 193 lbs for john ruiz and then had a real hard time dropping to 175. i would love to see floyd vs. roy jones. they should have a catch weight at 160-165. oscar made that weight, and they're about the same height.

Roy is already talking about a possible fight with Floyd. I hope they can make that happen. De La Hoya is next in line to fight Mayweather in the fall. The fight I really want to see more than those is Hopkins vs. Calzaghe. Both are ready to retire as two of the best boxers in history so that fight would be about fighting for your legacy.

isnt floyd 145 can jones make that weight? i dont know how much he weighs

    January 21, 2008 at 2:01 am

Floyd and Jones will never happen…Floyd went up to 156 to fight Oscar and that was the highest weight he ever fought at….he later said in interviews that it was extrmeely hard to make that weight. And Roy Jones wouldn't fight floyd, he's looking for heavier opponenets that he can actually beat. Jones looked good…but not that good CIRE, he for sure didn't look as fast as mayweather let alone faster than he was 5-8 years ago. He was fighting a guy who hadn't fought in 3 years and who was undersized for that weight…I love Roy but i do not believe that there will be a serious comeback. By the way, you know he once fought earlier in his career during the afternoon and then that night played on a semi-pro basketball team and scored 33 points…thats ridiculous!
