Strikeforce CEO: Cung Le vs. Frank Shamrock 2 in 2009

cung le actor in mma

Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker:

“He’s enjoying his movie star career, and he’s had some success at it, and he’s doing very well … We’re very happy for him. I talked to him about a week ago and he’s itching to get back into the cage.”

“But you will see Cung Le back in the cage in Strikeforce at least two times before the end of the year.”

“I haven’t sat down and talked to Frank about it, but the fight between Frank and Cung, number 2, is a fight that should actually happen before the end of 09, [InsiderBlog]”

This is good news for all you Cung Le fans, it sounds like Strikeforce will be looking to the San Jose favorite to draw big in 2009. Le took some time off from fighting to pursue some acting opportunities like Tekken, Pandorum with Dennis Quaid and Draw the Line.

I don't think Cung will ever fight in the UFC. He already said that he's accomplished so much already in fighting that he is going to wind down his career. He obviously wants to pursue acting. Why would he? Hes already champ.

no offense to cung but he really hasnt accomplished that much in mma. ya in san shou or however u say it he has a done a ton but he is only 6-0 in mma. he hasnt even defended the strikeforce title yet. i would say matt serra has been more accomplished than him so far in mma seeing as he won a title in the ufc and a ufc title means a lot more than the strikeforce title. i think anyone would agree that strikeforce doesnt have near as many quality opponents yet as the ufc. if cung retires now he will be remembered as a great fighter but definetly not one of the greatest. Anderson would hand him his ass on a silver platter and cung knows it.

yeah he is not a top fighter but shit he has done pretty good, and he started in mma late and a win over frank is not to shabby.i would love to see what he could do against some of the top guys but we will probally never see.

that came out kinda wrong what i was trying to say is that he has accomplished a lot but he hasnt accomplished as much as he thinks. taking nothing away from him he still has a lot to prove like facing a dominant wrestler that will put him on his back.

How long has it been since his last fight. At least a year. I didn't watch the last one but wasn't he getting worked and then got in a kick that broke franks arm or something. I agree with some of the above posts too, he hasn't done much in his MMA career based upon his competition not his accomplishments.

Stop being selfish… If any of these MMA fighters or even any of you whiners had a chance to be a movie star and earn 10 times for Life, woulld you not take that opportunity? If any of you would dare to say you would rather fight a 100K match once every 6 months instead of taking a million dollar career path, then you must be joking.

By the way, Lam if you reading this Con Cac I dropped kicked you back in Jose Ortega Elementary school HAHA
