After his record tying seven second KO of top contender Mark Hominick at UFC 140, ‘The Koran Zombie’ Chan-Sung Jung is very close to challenging UFC champion Jose Aldo for the Featherweight Title. Currently Jung trains full time with Korean Top Team, but stated he would like to come to the United States to work with Team Alpha Male again.
“I doubt that they’ll make that match up right now, but if they do I think I’d be ready for it. I’m guessing that the matchmakers will give me at least one fight and if I win that then maybe I’ll be in line for a title shot, but that’s up to the UFC to decide. But, whenever I get the shot, I’ll be ready. I think I’ve improved my game overall and I keep trying to improve as an all around fighter … I definitely want to get back to train with Team Alpha Male again, but at this point I don’t know when that will be. The training at Korean Top Team is top notch, so I know I’m getting great training here, but yes, when the time and situation permit I would like to go back and train some more with Urijah and the guys.”
Earlier this year, Jung trained for a month with Urijah Faber and Team Alpha Male to work on his ground game. He credited the team and grappling instructor Dustin Akbari with greatly improving his wrestling, BJJ, and nutrition in what he called the evolution of “Zombie 2.0”.
Team Alpha Male has some of the best lightweight fighters in the world including Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez, Chad Mendes, and Danny Castillo.
What do you think, is “The Korean Zombie” ready for a title shot now or should he have to win one more?
