The Ultimate Fighter Finale took place on Nov 30, 2013. The main event was a rematch between Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz. This would be the third fight between the two. Diaz winning the first by submission, and Maynard winning the second by unanimous decision.
Round 1: Both fighters come out to the center. Diaz starts the action by landing two straight jabs. Maynard tries to stalk and throws a couple of hard hooks that miss. Maynard gets a hold of Diaz legs and scores a takedown.
Diaz is able to get back up and the two trade jabs in the center. Diaz lands a straight left that stuns Maynard, and Diaz charges him against the cage, landing punches and knees. Diaz hits him with two straight right hooks. Maynard looks to be on queer street as Diaz continues to attack.
Maynard circles away but Diaz stays right with him, throwing punch after punch. Maynard seems to have no answer to stop Diaz attack. Diaz lands a wicked left, right hook combo to the top of Maynard’s head. Maynard looks ready to go at any second.
Maynard circles away and Diaz follows. They face off and Diaz lands two more solid shots that knocks Maynard back into the cage. Diaz follows that up with a strong left hook and right hook. After several more unanswered hooks against the cage, the ref comes in and stops the fight. Nate Diaz defeats Gray Maynard by TKO in round 1.

In the season finale, the first women’s bantamweight finale featured Julianna Pena vs Jessica Rakoczy.
Round 1: Pena came out and and immediately got a takedown on Rakoczy. After trying to land some ground and pound, Rakoczy was able to get back to her feet, but Pena pounced right back on her, working her back into the cage. Pena holds her there trying to advance her position, and Rakoczy is able to break away. Pena gets her back down to the canvas once again.
She starts landing some ground and pound, while Rakoczy tries to defend. Pena postures up and lands an elbow and a punch. Rakoczy is trying to defend, but Pena is relentless and landing shots like a mad woman. Pena looks like a mad woman possessed. She gets into the full mount position and starts dropping bombs on Rakoczy’s face.
Rakoczy tries to buck out of it using her legs, but Pena is not having it, and continues dropping bombs on Jessica’s face. With only 20 seconds left, Rakoczy rolls back and forth while protecting her face with her arms. She’s not offering any offense, and Pena is relentless at this point, landing shot after shot.
With only seconds left on the clock, the referee steps in and stops the fight. Julianna Pena defeats Jessica Rakoczy by TKO in round 1, and is the first woman to be crowned the Ultimate Fighter.
In the men’s bantamweight finale, Chris Holdsworth took on Davey Grant for the Ultimate Fighter six figure contract.
Round 1: Both fighters come out and meet in the center, touch gloves and face off. Grant starts off with a leg kick to the body as Holdsworth throws a straight jab. Both men circle each other, looking to establish their timing.
Holdsworth throws a wild right hook that misses, and Grant grabs him in a clinch. Holdsworth works him back into the cage. Grant uses his elbow to push Holdsworth’s head back, which is very effective. Holdsworth continues to push forward to keep Grant against the cage.
Holdsworth throws a knee to the body and Grant spins him around to the cage. They each throw a left hook, but Grant lands the cleaner shot. He follows it right up with a right hook and Holdsworth barely dodges it. Holdsworth grabs Grant’s arms and swings him around onto the cage.
Grant pushes off and the two meet back in the center. Holdsworth lands a straight right hand that knocks Grant off his balance. Holdsworth comes forward while Grant circles on the outside. Holdsworth measures grant, then lands a wicked one, two punch combo that stuns Grant.
Holdsworth works Grant back into the cage and works for a takedown. Grant is defending well. Holdsworth throws a knee to the midsection that lands. Grant answers back with a knee of his own, and spins him around.
They trade shots in the center, neither landing anything strong. Holdsworth works Grant back into the cage again, looking for a takedown. Grant defends it well and spins off the cage. Them meet in the center again, and Holdsworth gets him back on the cage. Grant is able to spin it around again. Grant goes for a takedown and ends up on the bottom. The round ends.
Round 2: They meet in the center again and continue where they left off. They stand and trade shots back and forth. Neither one lands anything damaging. Holdsworth lands a wicked head kick but Grant takes it and moves forward. The fight goes to the ground, and Holdsworth takes advantage, getting Grant’s back.
Grant tries to defend, but Holdsworth is on him hard. Holdsworth puts the hooks in and goes for a rear choke. Grant is trying to grab his arms and pull them off, but Holdsworth pretty much has it synced in. Holdsworth locks his arms around Grant’s neck tighter, and seconds later Grant is forced to tapout. The ref separates the two, and Chris Holdsworth defeats Davey Grant by submission in round 2, and is the season 18 Ultimate Fighter winner.
