Some big announcements have been made for UFC 71, set for July 7th in Las Vegas. First, the UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva will have his first official title defense against Nathan Marquardt. Marquardt is a serious condender for Silva and an all-around fighter. The former ROF Middleweight Champion has had training all over the world including getting his BJJ blackbelt from the Jackson Camp out of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Also in that card is Ultimate Fighter 2 winner Rashaad Evans to fight Tito Ortiz, who is looking for a strong comeback after losing decisively to Chuck Liddell back on Dec. 30. Rashaad is a very talented athlete who has leaned up and added knockout capability to his game, also training in the Jackson Camp. This is going to be a really good fight and Ortiz will finally answer the question of just how good Rashaad really is. I guarantee we won’t see any karate kid kicks coming from Ortiz and he won’t be hitting the canvas knocked out either. Rashaad will have to step up his game against the experience and talent of the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy.”
