wow this was bullshit shogun clearly won that fight

  3. What??

    October 24, 2009 at 2:50 pm

Is this a joke? Machida should fight Forrest on a running fight. Shogun DOMINATED Machida, how can it be a unanimous decision?? Thats the worst decision ever!!!!!!! Shogun WON Machida sucked ass, he should run in the Olympics instead of "fighting"

  4. CagE

    October 24, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Was Cecil Peoples one of the judges? what a rip. Shogun won.

    October 24, 2009 at 2:51 pm

Apparently the UFC wants to bank on the drawing power of the "undefeated" dragon a little longer because Rua clearly won that fight.

    October 24, 2009 at 2:52 pm

Wow! I even wanted Machida to win that fight and I'm saying he lost. Shogun did get robbed. That was bullshit!

  7. What??

    October 24, 2009 at 2:54 pm

Lyoto should be the new nike poster boy, running for the win lol

Do these judges know anything about MMA?

  9. steve

    October 24, 2009 at 2:57 pm

R u fucking kidding me right now????????????????????

That is a worse decision than Hamill v. Bisping.

Shogun won 4 rounds to 1. And all 3 judges gave it to Machida???????????????

Another BULLSHIT decision. I will never order UFC again. I am gonna watch them for free. What the fuck are these juges scoring on? Machida clearly got the shit beat out of him. Rogan was talking about Shogun vs Anderson and he ended up losing? Another decision based on poilitics of the fight game. Shogun was robbed and he can do nothing about it. I want those judges out of the UFC forever and out of judging in general. Was machidas family the judges? The whole crowd was cheering for Machida at the beginning of the fight and at the end the crowd was cheering for Shogun. That says enough. Machida couldnt even bounce on his legs and was outstruck the whole fight. UNBELIEVABLE. I want to here Dana White say Shogun should be the UFC LHW CHAMP not the beat up and broken down Machida. I know I rambled a bit but I am pissed.

  10. What??

    October 24, 2009 at 3:01 pm

steve you are 101% correct, Shogun IS the real Champion, he looked GREAT, hes my hero. No matter what anyone says he WON.

  11. zack

    October 24, 2009 at 3:30 pm

One of the worst decisions in UFC history…IMO…Those judges had their heads in some (o)(o)…aka boobs…LOL

    Shogun the real LHW champ…

    October 24, 2009 at 3:35 pm

Even if you subscribe to the philosophy that you have to BEAT the champion to be the champion, I still think Shogun won 4-1. For the judges to give Machida the victory by 3-2 is just too much of a swing for my taste.

Dana said to Shogun after the fight that he won that fight, and Dana hates the judges. Shogun deserved the win tonight, and did everything he could to get it.

  13. Andre

    October 24, 2009 at 3:36 pm

This is highway robbery , what fight were the judges watching . since the begining i said shogun would win this fight . he really exposed machita for what he is a counter fighter and went in there with the perfect game plan . too bad that Shogun will have to wait for another title shot when he clearly won this fight . i mean who else has given machita such a competetive match.

  14. Oswald Gobblecock

    October 24, 2009 at 3:36 pm

Steve, don't go too far man. You know you'll order another UFC PPV! Also, it's not the UFC's fault. Shogun should get an immediate.

  15. Big KC

    October 24, 2009 at 4:29 pm

Dana white better act fast to fix this BS decision. there has to be a lot of pissed off mma fans right now. shogun should get an immediate rematch, and not a year from now. hands down the worst decision in mma history.

  16. Big KC

    October 24, 2009 at 4:37 pm

Not only was shogun robbed tonight, but the fans were robbed. everybody should get there damn 50 dollars back from this payperview. im ready to put my tickets for sale on ebay that i just bought yesterday for 107! what sucks is that there is really nothing you can do to make this right……

  17. steve

    October 24, 2009 at 4:41 pm

I feel the same. This fight should be overturned and ruled a No Contest at worst lol. I know it will never and has never but come on. Shogun went from thinking champion of the ufc to getting robbed. And there is nothing worse than getting robbed. Also I am not kidding about not ordering ufc again. Im watching them free online. So Dana and the shit judges can sit on that and spin.

  18. steve

    October 24, 2009 at 4:43 pm

To CAGE: put up a poll asking who you think won

Machida or shogun. 50-45 49-46 and so on.

  20. kom34

    October 24, 2009 at 5:20 pm

i was all about machida coming in to this but hands down i thought shogun won the fight. i wasn't even looking at the screen when they announced the winner because i was pretty certain shogun was getting the belt. that was a pretty bad decision. shogun did the most damage and even though machida had some good moments shogun seemed to dominate the action. there must have been some boxing judges who just don't know how much kicks hurt.

  21. kom34

    October 24, 2009 at 5:27 pm

    some stuff dana just said:

he wants shogun to get an immediate rematch because he thought shogun won.

    New poll up..

  26. Balendin

there is only one reason i think that could be down to the decision.

    5/1 odds.

  27. Oswald Gobblecock

    October 24, 2009 at 6:25 pm

Why does Dana need to sit and spin Steve? He said that he thought Shogun won that fight. It's not his fault the judges are stupid. People need to realize that.

  28. Oswald Gobblecock

    October 24, 2009 at 6:26 pm

Either way, Machida was exposed tonight and I wanted him to win but after that fight I thought Shogun should get it and wanted him to get so Anderson Silva would go after him since he wasn't too eager on fighting his friend.

  29. Bob

    October 24, 2009 at 6:34 pm

complete BS, Shogun kicked machida's ass all night….

  30. Balendin

    October 24, 2009 at 6:52 pm

i'd also like to add, now that everyone knows the gameplan to beat Machida…. he won't be champ for long (he is evasive but you can't move your body and legs as fast as your head.

  31. Vincent

    October 24, 2009 at 6:57 pm

I don't agree with the decision but those first 3 rounds could have gone either way. Shogun won the 4th and 5th for sure. The judges were probably thinking that shogun is just gettin in leg kicks but never really went after or rocked machida whereas machida rocked shogun several times during the first 3 rounds. And when he did, shogun would shoot for the take down and machida successfully defended it. Either way they are gonna have an immediate rematch and it sucks for shogun cuz I think that machida will beat him in the rematch now that he knows shogun's strat.

  32. Vincent

    October 24, 2009 at 7:00 pm

Balendin, I thought bout the odds and how it was rigged too but last I checked, wasn't more money put on Machida? I know the house would love for underdogs to win but please correct me if I'm wrong.

  33. dane drebin

    October 24, 2009 at 7:00 pm

damn i thought i was taking crazy pills at the bar everyone thought machida won im glad im not alone and everyone else thought shogun won too. that was bullshit im still happy because i said shogun was gunna shock the world to everyone adn he did. he fucked machidas face up and is the real ufc champ.

steve dont get pissed at the ufc or dana white they have nothing to do with the judges and have no control over the refs or judges. if that was the case tito would never win a fight lol

  34. Balendin

    October 24, 2009 at 7:12 pm

even if more money was put on Machida. I'm willing to bet it was nowhere NEAR x5.

a simple choosing of boxing judges would have done it. (Machida gets hit so little he'd win a boxing match with anyone at 205lb.)

  35. Joe Smith

    October 24, 2009 at 8:15 pm

Stupid poll. Shogun didn't destroy Machida. There were no knock-downs or near knock-outs or near submissions. Shogun didn't even get a take-down. You can say Shogun won, which he did in my opinion, but don't think Machida got crushed. Come on, now.

  36. Joe Smith

    October 24, 2009 at 8:17 pm

dane, what town do you live in, and what bar was that so i know never to go there, because those people don't see reality. my bar here in l.a. was in an uproar over the decision.

  37. steve

    October 24, 2009 at 8:22 pm

This is the exact reason that boxing is not as big anymore. Terrible decisions. This is what loses fans. This card sucked ass. Give Rumble a challenge next time. Did anyone in the world think yoshida had a chance? If you expect me to believe that dana and the ufc cant have different judges if they so choose your high. They can change refs and judges by simply asking. How fucked up is this. The only ones who gave Machida the win were the ones getting paid to do so. You cant even say they were boxing judges becauseShogun had better hands than Machida and landed the harder shots. Had octagon control and pushed the pace. At times chasing after a running machida. Then Machida says he thinks he won the fight lol. So much for him being a very stand up nice guy. He knew he lost but all that karate and yoga by the waterfall wouldnt help him admit defeat. So much for the discipline. Cant wait for the rematch. Just not sure how shogun is gonna win.He wins 4 rounds and still loses by a unanimous decision lol.

  40. STEVEO

    October 24, 2009 at 11:52 pm

Card was pretty shitty, johnson needs to figure the weight thing out or move up, and Rua just found out how important it is to finish fights. I agree that it was close but I just don't think you should take the belt from a champ in a close decision, you should have to take the belt not have it given to you. yes i agree even back then that forrest got a gift too.

    October 24, 2009 at 11:53 pm

boy that fight sucked …looked like boxing .. well maybe a kick fight at best …..remember you have to beat thge champ to be the champ..Shogun didnt beat him up he just chased him … watch it with the sound off and you'll see what the judges saw .. Joe Rogan and his butt buddy screaming everytime someone lands a kick drives me nuts

  46. BJJ Brown Belt

    October 25, 2009 at 1:01 am

I agree that you should do you best to keep it out of the judges hands but man, Shogun clearly dominated. I don't see how the fans at the event, everyone on this site, and people on other sites could all be wrong. I feel real bad for Rua. All the training and hard work was taken away by this bullshit decision. It has to be devastating and deflating. I give Rua even more credit for being a true porfessional and taking it as well as could be. If was him, I would have went off. God bless him.

I agree that the fights were not that good but on a positive note, Cain looked like a monster. The UFC may test him one more time against someone like Nog or Mir but if he wins that, he has to be in line for a title match. His standup still needs improvement but his takedowns, wrestling, and ground and pound are really strong. If he could improve his standup and his submisions, he will be a tall challenge for Lesnar or Carwin. Ben is no joke and Cain demolished him.

  47. Ross

    October 25, 2009 at 1:17 am

Poor decision but as a fan of machida's im happy he got it :) even though he clear got beat.

Shogun as shown Machida isnt impossible to beat but i do expect machida now to analysis this fight and come into the rematch even better. I think Lyoto in the rematch will strike more with his hands because that where he was doing better in the fight. Plus he''ll find a way to not get kicked so much.

Good to see Shogun is starting to get back to his old self, gonna be plenty of good fights for him in the future.

Other fighters i was impressed with were Joe daddy Stevenson and Chael Sonnen.

I think Anthony Johnson should be made to go up in weight class as he clearly isnt a welterweight and that fight shouldn't have even happened.

  48. Ryan S

They aren't boxing judges, it is just a boxing style point system. Why isn't this thread updated?

CECIL PEOPLES seems to be the common ingredient in these bad decisions. rua clealy kicked the shit out of machida's legs and ribs. even machida's marathon running couldn't keep him away from rua. rua did look back in old form tonight.

  50. Jay

    October 25, 2009 at 2:43 am

Machida was tenative He was not so precise like he was against rashad and Thiago. If Machida would have been more loose and let it go he probably would have hurt shogun. I hope he comes back stronger

  51. Joe Smith

    October 25, 2009 at 4:13 am

Rumble cost himself part of his pay-check and the KO or the night for his weight. That was at least $65,000 of lost money. That's a heavy lesson to learn. If he doesn't come in for the next fight on-weight, then Dana should DQ him from the 170 division.

    October 25, 2009 at 4:13 am

and Fat ass Rothwell wasnt defending himself he never threw a punch .. i agree with the stoppage its not like he a great fighter and has been through that before.. he just looked like a punching bag

  53. steve

    October 25, 2009 at 4:26 am

Whodini did u really just say that he didnt beat machida up? What do you consider beating up? Beating them to a bloody pulp. Machida was limping and if you did go back and watch the fight andf you still think Machida won you are a FUCKING RETARD. He got the shit beat out of him.

Only a guy who has no xperience at all getting leg kicked and fighting with no knowledge of mma would give machida the win. But then again there is always that dumbass who gets it wrong. What sucks is this time they were the judges. Machida stopped moving a lot in the 4th and 5th b/c he was so jacked up from leg kicks. A guy runs and you think he won. He landed less and did less damage. He never controlled the octagon and was beaten in every aspect of the fiht and still somehow you think he won. WOW all I can say is wow.

  54. Tim

    October 25, 2009 at 4:52 am

Are you fucking kidding me…you think Machida lost this fight…no Rua didnt do enough to win this fight bottom line…Machida at most time is a boring fight but a smart one and while Rua did eventually in the later rounds catch him with leg kicks he missed a hell of alot during the first 3 rounds and machida hit him with jabs and right every time he threw and missed a kick…his takedown defense is huge that scores points he was never able to take him down after 5 attempts i think. The judges called this fight correctly the people who think Rua won are the ones that hate Machida. I like the guy but he is a boring fighter to watch at most times but that is his style of fighting you either like it or you dont. I think it was so close that a rematch should be in order though.

  57. BJJ Brown Belt

    October 25, 2009 at 5:23 am

You are Tim. I do not dislike Machida. Usually I want someone to win because I like the fighter or there may be a situation where I won't care to much for one guy but because I cant stand the other guy, I'll root for the that guy…either way, for the most part, I end up selecting a favorite. In this case, I really didn't care who won. I think that they are both great fighters, neither is cocky, neither talks shit, neither has an asshole coach or come from a turd camp…meaning that I do not dislike Machida. However, there is no way that Rua did not win 3 rounds of that fight. Forget the numbers, scoring, and what goes into scoring…there is no way that you could convince me that he did not win 3 rounds. I am not a huge fan of Joe Rogan and the other announcer – can't think of his name right now, and I poke fun at how many times they are wrong, but even they were stunned when the announcement that machida was the winner was made. I am not letting emotions of whether I like someone or not enter into this…Rua won that fight. You have made some good points on this website but sometimes I think that you just like to argue, even if you have no point.

  58. BJJ Brown Belt

    October 25, 2009 at 5:25 am

Sorry, my first sentence should say, "You are wrong Tim."

    October 25, 2009 at 7:22 am

thanks Tim … you got my meaning ..and yes he did run..like i said it looked like most boxing matches …all and all the fight sucked ..im not a Machida fan ..i was hoping Rua was gonna STOMP HIS ASS…but he didnt ..the champ always gets the close rounds

    October 25, 2009 at 8:20 am

Shogun kicked Machida's ass, all of you saying shogun missed a lot, well off course Machida for running faster than Forrest like a bitch.

  61. Tim

    October 25, 2009 at 9:41 am

As i said Rua could of very well won that fight but he lost that fight on his own it was too close of a fight overall when you take in the facts the late rounds kicks and the earlier unsuccessful takedowns. IF RUA WAS THE MORE AGGRESSOR IN THE 4 AND 5 ROUND HE WOULD OF DEFINETLY WON THIS FIGHT. Facts are facts Rua's corner and Rua himself lost this fight for him they told him he was winning so rua backed off which as you all know you never ever do in fighting never back off your opponent. your right Whoodini close rounds usually go the champ if there wasnt anything else to set them apart thats just the way it is. While many think Rua won frankly to be honest after thinking and reviewing the fight even though i was there live i think they both won the fight and thats why they need a rematch asap which looks like its going to happen, props to Dana for speaking up againt this fight and saying he believe rua won but that he needs to get a rematch asap. Aslo the rothwell fight was an early stoppage big time. Mazzegatii is a stupid fucking ref.

Bottom line Machida is a boring fight but he fights smart and i also think he took rua lightly but he won and he did just enough to win the rounds. All in all like i said they both won the fight and you can make ample statements and facts from both ends to back them up but like him or not Machida is the champ and i cant wait for a rematch.

My first live UFC fight and it sucked overall but the atmoshpere of just being there made it worth it. Not to mention being 30 rows from the cage with free tix helped too. Got to love working for the UFC!!!

  62. steve

    October 25, 2009 at 1:41 pm

Tim way to say two things and contradict yourself. First you say Machida won and pretty much laughed saying You thought Machida lost this fight and now you say after everyone burns on you that Shogun could have won. No Tim he did win the fight clearly in any real mma fans eyes. Take that how you want and you said that the only ones that thought Machida lost are the ones that hate him?? Wow you are really stupid honestly. The Fans were CHEERING for MACHIDA at the start of the fight duh!!!!!!!!! At the end of the fight when everyone thought Shogun had done more than enough to win a decision the fans gave Shogun their applause. So the whole anti Machida thing is proved wrong there. And then not only that but go on any mma website and look at all the people saying what a terible decision that was. Machida was shocked when he found out he won and he really never acknowledged that he thought he won. He just said that the judges gave it to him sorry guys lol. People like you are what piss me off about mma sites. If you couldnt see a clear win for Machida after watching that fight you are an IDIOT.

  66. Joe Smith

    October 25, 2009 at 6:11 pm

Actually, go back and watch the fight again. with all the controversy i just watched it again, and you know what? Machida actually DID win the fight. It was that close, but if you watch with an open mind, and with the sound down, then you'll see Machida actually won the first three.

Here's why I think we all think/thought Shogun won:

    1. Goldberg and Rogan from the beginning kept saying how Shogun was winning, and every time Shogun landed a shot, Rogan yelled "SHOGUN HIT HIM!!!" Even with the flurry at the end of Round 3, Machida had Shogun in the most danger either fighter was in through the fight, and Machida was landing left-right-left-right, and Shogun hits Machida once, and Rogan yells "SHOGUN HIT HIM!!!".

    2. Shogun won the last two rounds easily, and was on his way to eventually….eventually….dominating the fight. So since he won the last two decisively, and Machida was on a downward slop, we assumed that Shogun was working him throughout the entire fight.

The fight was VERY close. So close that we keep talking about it. If you're champion, then you really have to BEAT the champion. The fight was so close, that Machida really should have kept the belt, because a close match goes to the champion.

So, I changed my verdict after I saw the fight again and really WATCHED it, not just in a bar with a few drinks and people yelling.

    October 25, 2009 at 9:55 pm

    you go Joe

  68. krage

    October 26, 2009 at 2:07 am

i totally agree joe, I too took a second look at the fight and saw it the same way entirelly. Sho guns kicks were loud and flashy but what i saw Machida land at least one or two punches for every leg kick he took. it was close but if you are fighting for a title you should not go in just planning to score points with leg kicks you gotta be hungry and take the title. and Sho Gun fell a little short on this one.

this site is goin down hill quick i miss the days when there was about 8 of us that talked about mma and shared our oppinions. a lot of the main guys that started out here dont post very often if at all anymore and i can see why. it was bound to be over run by retards sooner or later and its headed the way of sherdog quick. the way of mindless name calling and childish fighting. you cant argue with stupid nobody wins so i think this will be my last post for awhile im tired of being associated with such stupid people. Definetly not gunna use this name ever again seeing as creeper wierdos like i luv lamp are searching for me on the internet… fuckin wierdos

Sites been like this for over a year now. It's not that it's been going down recently. Remember Cobra Clutch and 69inside my triagnle or whatever. There's always assholes here. Dane isn't exactly the nicest guy on here, either. He just doesn't change his name every week like all the others. hahaha.

What we need is a log-in system with actual user names which require a real e-mail verification step. Then we'll see what's up. When little boys and girls get to post "anonymously" they get realllly brave with their postings. they're keyboard warriors already on the net, and we give them full anonymity here? that's just a recipe asking for this immature bullshit that is going to happen.
