Anderson Silva manager Ed Soares has been hinting that his fighter was upset the UFC lifted Vitor Belfort into title contention after just one win in the UFC against Rich Franklin. Now, Soares confirms that the UFC middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort must be delayed due to a slow recovery after having surgery to remove some bone fragments in his elbow. Like we didn’t see that coming.
“Anderson’s recovery is going really, really well … He’s coming back, and his recovery is doing really good. His physical therapy is going really well. He’s getting better range of motion. He’ll be back 100 percent for sure.”
“At the end of the day, it’s going to be a great fight … Like I said before, I don’t think [Belfort] deserves a title shot, but that’s over with now. It is what it is …. Whoever the UFC puts in front of us, we’ll fight. We’ve never picked our opponents.” [MMAJunkie]
It is not known if the UFC will just find a replacement for The Spider or just delay the fight a couple of months.
