According to Heavy.com, Matt Hughes is in negotiations to fight MMA legend Renzo Gracie at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.

After being dethroned by top welterweights Georges St. Pierre and Thiago Alves, Hughes has apparently turned to whooping on senior fighters looking for a quick payday. He already turned down fights with top contenders Mike Swick and Jon Fitch, citing he’s only looking for “interesting” fights.

This won’t be the first the first time Hughes has took on a member of the legendary Gracie family. Hughes defeated Royce Gracie by TKO at UFC 60 back in 2006.

Renzo Gracie (13-6-1), 42, hasn’t fought since 2007, when he won a DQ victory over Frank Shamrock due to illegal knees to the head of a downed opponent.

are they going to provide walkers for these guys to make it to the cage, or are they going to let them use golf carts? does senior citizen medicare kick in for MMA fights?

renzo might just win i wouldn't be surprized at all. the ufc has kinda been on the decline for me lately with making matches that are irrelevent and signing fighters on losing streaks that they used to bash. tito vs forrest and this fight should not be on the main card but they both will end up being co main events? they should be free or at least not trying to sell this to the fans as main card worthy.

This is hardly the UFC's fault. Matt has been ducking top competition since the fight with Matt Serra.

I dont blame the promoters for bringing Renzo in. He is a great fighter, and the name Gracie attracts MMA fans, old and new.

roy, it wasn't supposed to be a main event, but lesnar pulled out last minute, and they couldn't find a marquee match-up in time. and it's already slated to be a PPV event, since the Couture one is already free this weekend. shit happens, dude. Just is what it is. Just don't buy it. I'll see it at the local bar for $5. no worries.
