Both headliners Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard have been pulled from the card with injuries. The UFC decided to shift up the lineup, Quinton Rampage Jackson vs Matt Hamill will now take the top spot.
Stepping up into the UFC 130 main event slot is the bout between former UFC light heavyweight champ Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt “The Hammer” Hamill, and moving to the Pay-Per-View card will be the Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story welterweight showdown.
In Spike TV prelim action, Tim Boetsch’s middleweight debut against Kendall Grove will join the bantamweight fight between Miguel Angel Torres and Demetrious Johnson.
Apparently Frankie Edgar suffered broken ribs while training. The UFC asked WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis to replace him, but then Maynard suffered some sort of knee injury and the bout was scrapped.
UFC President Dana White,
“(The injuries) are not that serious … They’re going to be out like six to eight weeks. So if everything goes right and they heal the same, who knows, maybe we can do this fight in August or September.”
