UFC 133 in Philadelphia was hit with a disaster as main event fighter Phil Davis was forced to withdraw from his fight with Rashad Evans, due to injry. Davis suffered a knee injury while getting ready to face Suga on Aug. 6th.
Quickly after the news broke, Lyoto Machida stepped up to replace Davis and give Rashad Evans another shot at the Dragon.
Rashad will look to avenge his UFC 98 knockout loss to the Dragon at UFC 133 on Aug. 6th at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. [see picture]
Not so fast, Ed Soares Lyoto’s Manager told Tatame.
“The fight is very close and for a professional matter we can’t accept it. We want to make the best match and there is remaining just a few weeks and it wouldn’t be fair with the fans to do a bad performance.”
