One of the UFC headliners to have medical suspension along with other 10 MMA fighters was Mark Munoz. This was according to California State Athletic Commission due to Munoz’s injuries against his fight with Chris Weidman. The 6 months suspension was supported by serious injuries of Munoz from lacerations to a fractured jaw that resulted from the TKO on second round. Nonetheless, getting clearance from his doctor may suggest an early comeback for Munoz.
Notable Medical Suspensions
Another headliner for having medical suspension is James Te Huna who also received the same length of absence like Munoz. He suffered fractures of left foot and left elbow after fighting Joey Beltran. On the other hand, Beltran will only out of the cage for 60 days because of 3 facial lacerations he received after his fight with Te Huna. Other fighters noted for having suspensions were lightweight division fighter Anthony Njokuani following a loss against Rafael dos Anjos. Njokuani received the 6-month medical suspension due to his fractured hand.
