UFC 158 will be on March 16, 2013 at the Bell Centre at Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Headlined by a welterweight title fight between Georges St. Pierre and Nick Diaz; UFC is busy promoting this event with several marketing strategies lined up.
If you haven’t seen UFC 158 promotional video and highlights, then you might want to check it out at YouTube. The marketing video was supposed to kick off with a press conference featuring the welterweights themselves. However, defending champion Georges St Pierre was quite unimpressed that former Strikeforce title-holder Nick Diaz was not present at the said press conference to promote their bout. But fans need not worry; pictures of Diaz came out as he went about Montreal enjoying the festivities.
Checking out their stats, local Georges “Rush” St. Pierre is a 31 year old welterweight from St. Isidore, Quebec. He is not just a crowd favorite because he is from Quebec but because of his impressive professional MMA record with 23 wins and only 2 losses. His last bout against Carlos Condit was his 10th consecutive win via unanimous decision at UFC 154 headline fight in November 2012. He has defeated superb fighters like Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, B.J. Penn, Jon Fitch, Matt Serra, Matt Hughes and Dan Hardy to name a few.
And a glance at St. Pierre’s opponent; Nick Diaz is challenging Rush for the title with 26 wins, 8 losses and 1 no contest. He is a 29 year old welterweight from Stockton, California, USA. His last fight was a loss via unanimous decision to Carlos Condit at UFC 143 headline match in February 2012. Before this loss however, he enjoyed an 11 consecutive winning streak since 2008.
UFC 158 will not just be filled with St. Pierre versus Diaz fury but with other great fighters as well. It is also a match between Carlos Condit versus Rory MacDonald, Jake Ellenberger versus Johny Hendricks, Chris Camozzi versus Nick Ring, Patrick Cote versus Bobby Voelker, Jordan Mein versus Dan Miller, Antonio Carvalho versus Darren Elkins, Sean Pierson versus Rick Story, Daron Cruickshank versus John Makdessi, Mitch Gagnon versus Issei Tamura and Johnny Eduardo versus Yves Jabouin.
As this event draws near, expect a lot of news, forecasts and interviews from fighters as well as coaches who can’t wait to get it on. Fans should also watch out for more videos as their favorite fighters invite them to watch their bouts in March.
