Jon Jones has had an amazing UFC career and has been involved with the organization 5 years. He has pretty much run through everyone they have put in front of him. He has defeated some of the best fighters in the world. Most fighters could only dream of having Jones fight resume. He has victories over Chael Sonnen, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, Rampage Jackson, & Shogun Rua. This will be his 6 title defense and 2nd fight of this year.
Jon Jones Highlight Reel
Alexander Gustafsson has had an equally impressive run at light heavyweight, but somehow has been overlooked by many. He’s been with the UFC since 2009, and has taken out many great fighters. He only has one loss to Phil Davis by submission, but after that fight he won his next 6 fights, defeating Cyrille Diabate, James Te Huna, Matt Hamill, Vladmir Matyushenko, Thiago Silva, and Shogun Rua. He has looked impressive in all of his victories, dominating in every aspect. His climb to the top of the division is very similar to Jones in that they have faced several common opponents.
Alexander Gustafsson Highlight Reel
One factor that excites fans is the fact that Gustafsson is about the same size as Jones. Jones has enjoyed a tremendous height and reach advantage over all of his previous opponents. With Gustafsson that is not the case. Their stats are virtually identical. This is a pretty evenly matched fight. Jones has the edge in the wrestling department, while Gustafsson has the edge in striking. They recently met at a UFC press conference where they both addressed the media, fans, and faced off.

The co-main event features bantamweight interim champ Renan Barao vs. Eddie Wineland, heavyweights Brendan Schaub vs. Matt Mitrione, middleweights Costa Philippou vs. Francis Carmont, and lightweights Pat Healy vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov.
This is a great card featuring many of the top fighters in the UFC. Gustafsson has been calling for a shot at the title for a while now and he finally gets his chance. Will his size and striking be enough to topple the current champion? Will Jones stand with Alexander or choose to take it to the ground? Can Jones continue his dominance, or will he be the latest champ to surrender a belt? Tune in to UFC 165 on September 21st and find out.
