Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir is set to take on Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74 Respect on August 25 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mir originally claimed the vacant UFC Heavyweight title by breaking Tim Sylvia’s forearm with an armbar at UFC 64. Mir was striped of the title after he was unable to defend it due to a motorcycle accident back in 2004 in which he broke his femur bone in his leg. Now Mir will again try to get his career back on track with a win over Antoni Hardonk at UFC 74. His previous attempts at a comeback have failed, with losses to Marcio Cruz and Brandon Vera.

Also rumored on the card is UFC poster boy Roger Huerta, who will be taking on Alberto Crane. Huerta gained instant fame when Sports Illustrated ran a story on the UFC and he was chosen to be on the cover. Huerta has now became the spokesman for UFC as it grows into the Latin market, just like Michal Bisping is for the European market. The UFC gets these fighters, makes headliners out of them by feeding them UFC first timers with good records or other UFC “punching bags” like Elvis Sinosic, Ross Pointon or Jason Von Flue. My definition of a UFC “punching bag” is a fighter who has a lot of heart and will bang the whole fight to make their opponents look good. These fighters usually lack the skills to finish fights and a weakness to being knocked out or submitted.

Another fight rumored is Clay Guida will be taking on PRIDE fighter Marcus Aurelio. Aurelio is making his UFC debut, but he is coming off two losses, one to Mitsuhiro Ishida and the other a rematch loss to Pride standout Takanori Gomi.
