brandon vera

According to the FightNetwork, Brandon Vera has been presented an offer to fight Febricio Werdum at UFC 85 on June 7 from O2 arena in London, England. Both fighter have not yet signed the contract.

Vera will make his return to the cage after a disappointing loss to Tim Sylvia at UFC 77.

Febricio Werdum made a statement defeating Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 80 earlier this year. Werdum was next in line for a title shot, but it looks like the UFC changed its mind, with the possible booking of this fight.

Heavyweight contenders Brandon Vera and Fabricio Werdum are slated to square off at UFC 85 on Saturday, June 7 at the O2 Arena in London, The Fight Network has learned. No agreements have been signed, but the bout has been presented to both men, according to a source within one of their camps.

i'm glad they arent giving wierdum an easy route to the title. vera claimed he was not himself in his fight against silvia so this is his chance to prove what he's made of.

Wow this card is starting to look real good, love this fight! I'm pulling for Werdum if he can take it to the ground (Vera has great grappling) and he has got to watch out for Vera's kicks/ elbows, pretty devestating

Wierdum just seemed like a guy out there fighting to win in my opinion. I like to see fighters that fight to finish. I think Vera can be that, he got a bad break in the Silvia fight by breaking his hand. I've never broken a hand but I've had ligament damage on my fingers and even that hurts to punch with. No excuse during a fight though when you have adrenaline going, you just have to push through and I didn't think Vera did that.

Would anyone else be interested in a Eddie Sanchez Vs Brandon Vera match?

I think I'd rather see that instead of Vera Vs Wierdum.

I have been predicting this fight for weeks and everyone keep telling me it's impossible, because tehy were set that Werdum was getting a title shot. Werdum does NOT deserve a title shot right now! This is a very even fight and I honestly can't pick a winner. I really like the matchup and it should be a solid fight. Eventhough Frank Mir may not deserve a shot at Nog right now, It just might be the right move for the UFC. Mir's win over Brock may not have been a huge win, but the fight was so hyped that Mir winning gave him a huge following of fans. It was alot of publicity for Mir and considering ppv buys ect. I think Mir would be the guy to give a title shot against Nog, because their both great submission fighters and it would be a pretty good fight.

If Kongo were to beat Herring, I would say he would deserve a shot, but Nog would kill him!

I think if anybody deserves another shot at the title, is Andre" the pit bull" Arloski then Frank mir. Brock should fight Herring ,gonzga. Tim sylvia should fight Kongo. VERa vs Eddie Sanchez or Wierdum. Danmm! maybe I should be match maker, What's up D. White. I'm Laid off I need work brother. LoL

andrei looked dismal in his last outing. he doesn't deserve another shot at the title. if frank mir wins again, i think he should be next in line. kongo proved he should be up next after he beat mirko. so mir vs kongo.

Even AA may have not look that good but he has been winning. brock whooppped on mir, mir just got lucky with a leg hold. he didn't look that good when a WWE star is putt'in a hurting on you,mir got lucky. If brock used more elbows it may have been a different out come.even mir got the win,but maybe another two fights then maybe a shot at the belt. if he fights kongo the same out come he is just going to go for a leg boring.

Maybe its because I train BJJ and study it, but Mir's ground game is never boring to me. He did a textbook move from the ground, he went for the knee bar, Brock pulled just enough to get his knee free but then Mir went for the ankle lock. That was a great finish by Mir. Thats the mark of a great fighter…you find a way to win.

Realwun, while i agree any type of submission stemming from BJJ takes dedicated training to even attempt a submission correctly, I dont agree with your out look of the fight. While I like Mir, I do not believe he is a "great fighter". I feel as if all other aspects of his game besides ground/ guard are lacking just enough skill to make him a pretty good fighter, but not a great one. I also believe that some luck, not much, but some played a part in his win. Brock looked very impressive to me, engaging early to try and avoid the fatal mistake that he obviously made to lose the fight. Overall i look forward to see what both of them do from this stage in their careers
