According to a report on ESPN the Magizine, a fight between Chuck Liddell (21-5) and undefeated Rashad Evans (11-0-1) is in the works and is likely to be the main event at UFC 88. According to the report, the fight negotiations are in their early stages and nothing has yet been signed.
According to a UFC source, he will be Chuck Liddell’s mystery opponent in the organization’s debut in Atlanta. The fight has been agreed to in principle–the only thing left is the paperwork. Any kind of win over the Iceman would probably vault Evans into light heavyweight title contention and be a defining moment for him and MMA fans. They’d have to embrace him, right? Right?
The two were iniataly scheduled to meet at UFC 85 until Chuck Liddell suffered a hamstring injury and was forced to pull out of that fight.
