This should be good and it will make history as well. I am very interested in this match but i see Lesnar coming out the Champ.

Gotta go with my boy Randy on this one. He's shocked the MMA world before and he's going to do it again. His great all around skills, experience, and the intelligent strategies he impliments in all of his fights are going to be the keys to winning this fight. Lesnar has shown that he has the potential to be a long standing force in the heavyweight division. He has immense power, and excellent take down/ wrestling skills. But other aspects of his game are lacking. His stand up, while obviously powerful, was slow and somewhat telegraphed. His ground game is strictly wrestling/ ground n pound. He had Herring's back multiple times and did not attempt to sink in his hooks or apply any chokes. Also he was not very active while in dominant positions on the ground. He looked only to control heath's position and throw minimal punches. The few times he had mount (he didn't attempt to gain full mount/ pass Herring's guard nearly enough) he was relunctant to throw any damaging blows and often gave up full mount to transition back to side control. I believe Couture's best chance of winning is to stay off the ground. I think he will use a similar strategy to the one he used to defeat Sylvia. Implement his dirty boxing and try to control the pace of the bout by tying Lesnar up in a tight clinch against the cage, which if done correctly should neutralize Brock's take downs via the shoot. I see this fight going Randy's way in the form of a guillotine, and if the fight does go to the ground Randy's chance of winning should lie within another submission. But im sticking with Randy all the way, he's taking this W home and showing fans he's still here to fight and is ready to throw!

That could happen…but realisticlly thats a minimal chance it will. You see Randy has never faced the likes of Lesnar before and comparing him with Sylvia is an insult…First off Lesnar is purely alot stronger, faster and better wrestling than both Syvia and Randy. Randy will have a hard time doing the whole clinch thing with a man that is physically like a MAC truck and weighs 280lbs come fight time and can basically toss the 225 Randy around like he does with his 200lbs punching bags he tosses around and flips over his head. Look Randy is in serious trouble with Lesnar…and i just dotn see Randy being able to use his technical advantage over him as in every catagory Randy is good at except experience Lesnar is better. Lesnars last fight he stuck to a game plan and that was to take Herring down and stay in dominat position which he did, why would he risk going for a submission and lose dominant postion against a far more experienced fighter. that makes no sense he is trying to win the fight wether you like it or not he won and he stuck to a game plan that wasnt all that wow factor but the fight did have some wow moments to it. As in my years of MMA i have never seen someone get rocked with one punch like Herring did and fall backwards. Randy is in Serious trouble and given Randy is a warrior i give him a chance but a very limited one as he is physically and skil wise outmatched except for his experience and very limited sub skills. Look you have a man who is as massive 280lbs of muscle with the speed and strength of a MAC truck/Gorilla against a mere 225lbs man who is not even close to speed or strenght level or skill wise is heavily overmatched. Randy main skill is wrestling and being able to gain control with his clinch but now he is facing a man who is better at that overall and much faster and stronger than he is. Like i said Randy has a chance but Lesnar is clearly the Fav to win.

remember also tim lesnar has never faced the likes of randy and randy is better in alot of areas beside experience- he is a better boxer, better at bjj, better in the clinch(although your right he might just get out powered there) and a better mma fighter. lesnar is stronger and a better wrestler and that might be enough but randy has alot more skills. i would go more 60-40 in lesnars favor but its not that far fecthed that randy will win this fight.

  5. TIM

    September 16, 2008 at 4:07 am

No its not tha Far fetched as anything can happen and thas why due to Randy's being Randy i give him a chance, i understand that put realisticlly Lesnar has faced the likes of Randy before just not in full contact…your forgetting Lesnars experienc of over 20 years wrestling competivly at top level and i dont know how much you know about wrestling but ther is slot more to it than you think it fully envlolves being able to control your opponent physically and mentally there are alot of skills required to be a great wrestler..Strength, Speed balance and coordination and the ability to use your opponents momentum against them…Now take that into consideration with the likes of Lesnar being physically Stronger, Faster and more powerfull and you are putting a freight train against a classic 69 camaro or whatever…sure the camaro has speed and looks muscular but the freight train is much powerful and faster just an example no means by it. So you add the 20 years of wrestling plus some years in training MMA and you have one hell of a fighter…from what we have seen the only way lesnar can be beat is if he beats himself and losses by submission but i can see this happening Randy can somehow find a way to level lesnar to his level and stay with him standing and use his boxing quickness which i believe is faster than lesnar but not nearly as powerfull which randy has to be aware of cause he rocked a 250lb man flat over heels with one punch imaging what he can do to a 225 man. Randy has alot more to worry about than lesnar does realisticlly and honestly there are not many options that Randy has in this fight to win, he is not going to out wrestle him nor can he keep lesnar down, nor can he keep the clinch with him nor can he knock him out so physically the only option is to outlast Lesnar and win via decision but with Lesnars conditiong background as being a wrestler he was known for his superb conditiong as a HWGHT and i dont know but have you seen his training videos…man that is one intense and scarry dude, his conditioning will be put to the test but i think it will be a great shock to randy as with Sylvia that was his downfall among many but his conditioning sucked…Lesnar has all the tools to beat Randy but anyting can happen but likely not in favor or Randy i am sad to say. Lesnar is going to have a great game plan and know his strengths and use them to his advantage in this fight and Randy can not counter Lesnars skills…he must try and keep it standing in order to survive but you saw what he did to MIR andHerring so standing may notbe wise so in other wordsRandy is screwed. but because Randy is Randy i give him a chance as i have to give him that respect.

Tim I didnt compare Lesnar to Sylvia, I said Randy wopuld impliment the same strategy. And as for what you said about not taking any chances with submissions, I agree he should be careful and not risk making a mistake but the fact that he didnt try and use basic MMA skills says to me he isn't close to being a fully developed fighter, simply a wrestler with power at this point. I also would like to ask in what regards do u hold Lesnar faster than Randy, striking, shooting, or what? I'm not completely clear that point of yours. Your repetitive comparisons of weight merely point out Lesnar's physical superiority. It does not take into effect Randy's speed or ability to take punches as you mentioned many times with Herring and Lesnar. I really like Lesnar, despite him being an asshole, and I think he'll do great things in the division. But his 20 years of wrestling experience and only 3 professional MMA bouts are not enough evidence to support a prediction of him winning this fight.

  7. Deakson

    September 16, 2008 at 5:19 am

Tim, I am glad tho that you are backing Lesnar. I still read the occasional post saying he isn't the real deal and wont win many fights, but I think he has shown us that he has the raw skills to develop into a talented fighter. I think people will see that as him and Couture will put on a very good, competitive match

  8. TIM

    September 16, 2008 at 5:29 am

Thats your opinion and Lesnar is overall much faster wresling wise with his takedowns. Hand speed wise its a toss up but i have to give it to Randy. Yes 20years of wrestling experience at top level with 3 fights and 3 years of MMA training and stricktly his strength, size and power advantage is enough to say Lesnar should win this fight. Randy can not enforce the same game plan as lesnar as Lesnar will overmatch him in those areas. Now i never said Lesnar was the best but he can be and i will say that he definetly has alot of work to do and learn but for a man with 3 fights and having the skills he posseses is scarry for what he has shown and done in the ring. Randy can take a punch but as said Randy has never faced a man with Lesnars power or speed or strength all in one. One shot and 2 250lbs plus men went flat on there backs multiple times, now can Randy a 225lbs small man take that sort of punch and be able to recover…i think not as both Mir and herring said the man hits like a damn frieght train and its like lunch boxes full of concrete hitting you. Randy needs to go for a submission or take it to decision but he is far overmatched and never count out Randy buti just dont see him winning but if he does that is great…either way. In my opinion i can predict what i want its simply my opinion wether you disagree or not that is your freedom to. Simply put though Lesnar is too much for Randy to handle.

  9. TIM

    September 16, 2008 at 5:31 am

Deakson…i agree it should be a competive match but as stated before i just dont see Randy being able to control a man like lesnar. He is simply Randy Couture times 100 minus the experience and sub skills.

heres a quote from mir on lesnar vs randy

Mir On Lesnar's Title Shot Opportunity:

“I think that Lesnar’s name is the only reason he’s getting a title match. I understand why. A ton of people are going to tune into it. I know I am. But it is a business. Brock Lesnar is a force to be reckoned with. He’s a super strong, fast guy with great wrestling. But two years of training and three fights won’t bode him well against Randy Couture. He (Couture) was the same level of great wrestler 12 and 15 years ago and now he’s an accomplished mixed martial artist who outstruck Chuck Liddell when they fought the first time.”

  12. TIM

    September 16, 2008 at 8:37 am

Point Taken but he not the same level of a wrestler as Lesnar is as lesnar wrestled at HWGHT in a Div 1 NCAA championship school while Randy wrestled at a mere Div 2 low talent level..although he excelled at it he is no where near lesanr league when it comes to wrestling lesnar had a 106-5 record in 4 years of college wrestling and was never pinned…Randy's record was no where near that impressive. So you cant compare anything between them except they both wrestled simply just that. Now i understand Randy is more experienced in MMA but Lesnar is no average wrestler trying to make it in MMA, he is massive, strong, fast and explosive and throw in his expertise in wrestling and his bad ass conditioning along with some MMA training of 3 years and you have one hell of a fighter at just the begining of his career who still has alot to learn and train upon. Lesnar has all the tools to beat Randy where as Randy is lacking tools to beat Lesnar..if you understand that. I dont care who you are but when your 280 and your fighting a 225 man who only advantage is experience and minimal Sub skills it doesnt

  13. TIM

    September 16, 2008 at 8:39 am

continued…it doesnt bode well for anyone…even if your name is Randy Couture…Lesnar is a force to be reckoned with.

    September 16, 2008 at 9:26 am

that was from mir, i do agree that brock has the better wrestling creds no dout, the only thing i am saying is brock still has not faced the caliber mma fighter that randy is and wrestling is not mma. most fans seem to be picking lesnar where most fighters that i have heard have said randy takes it.

  15. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 12:52 am

What are you watching cause all the interviews i see and the Yahoo sports reports say that the likes of Liddell, Jackson etc are picking Lesnar to win. Randy is awesome but honestly he is no match for Lesnar seriously stop with Randy being Randy for a moment and really look into the fight deeply then maybe you will see my point. Lesnar is like no other human alive and the MMA world has never seen the likes of him..Randy is in alot of trouble but as i said there is always chance but a very slim one and i am taking nothing away from the great Randy but he is seriously overmatched.

  16. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 12:58 am

I dont disagree that Mir or anyone else says that by the way there are also others as i stated that believe Lesnar will win.

  17. roy

    September 17, 2008 at 1:57 am

thats funny tim, i should stop with randy being randy and look at the fight?thats what i am doing i give the edge to lesnar but not as much as you.i think your love for lesnar has blinded you a little j/k. you may be right but i think lesnar may not be quite ready for the top yet and randy will find that out. the good thing is we will both get to find out in nov.

  18. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 2:25 am

I didnt mean stop talking about Randy i just meant look into the fight a little deeper then just seeing Randy as being Randy. But nevermind my point was misunderstood. Anyways yes your right we will get to see Nov who the better fighter is although Randy is Great and has proven himself against bigger fighters…Lesnar is far the biggest he has ever faced in regards to Size…Strength, Agility and Speed and overall Conditioning and were Randy is strong skill wise Lesnar is just even stronger in those areas and as i said except for Experience and minimal Sub skills but physically Herring couldnt handle Lesnar hell even Mir couldnt the man is just too strong and fast for a man his size to be contained and i honestly think that the only way lesnar can be beat as proven in his first UFC fight is if Lesnar beats Lesnar. But i dont see Randy physically being able to control Lesnar due his lack of Size and strength and speed in areas where Lesnar is far better…Randy needs to stand up with Lesnar and test him but can randy stay standing with Lesnar…so far no one has proven that they can stand up with Him as he knocks them down with one punch. Lesnar is far better than any other roookie MMA fighter and shouldnt be taken lightly and i really think Randy will be seriously overmatched and dominated but i hope not as i would love to see this fight go at least 3 rounds if not more and if Randy wins and it depends upon how he wins but if he does that is just more respect for him. Also to be honest Mir said he thinks Randy will win cause i think he doesnt want to have to fight Lesnar again as he stated just that after their first fight where he stated i hope i never have to fight him again and same thing with Nog…he thinks Randy will win only for the pure fact he know he can beat Randy but i think he doubts he can beat Lesnar and doesnt want to face him so soon plus a Randy Nog match would be interesting to see although i really think its going to be Lesanr vs Mir early next year in the rematch for the title…it just makes sense now lets see if it happens.

I have to agree with tim on a serious note. Other than these four guys Congo is the only legit contender at heavy and hes on th eoutside looking in, i think lesnar will win and like tim said hes too big too fast, its not a flabby fat 270 like sylvia its a i should be playing D Tackle in the NFL 270. plus hes prolly fighting at more like 300 by the time the fight rolls around, randy is going to have to do something special or Lesnar is just going to beat himself, there is no other physical specimen like him in the ufc.

  25. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 3:19 am

Dude i am not saying that fight will never happen i merly stating a fact that NOG flat out said he wants and hopes that Randy wins…he makes no regard to Lesnar only mentionaling what a physical freak he is which tells me that deep down NOG doesnt want to fight Lesnar right now how else can you put it when someone says they hope someone els wins its almost like he is dodging lesnar completly as when a fighter says they hope someone wins its usually pointing out the fact that they know they can beat that certain someone or it will be a good fight and fighting Randy win or lose is credible but fighting Lesnar and winning or losing as some say isnt that credible at this stage and NOG obviously doesnt want to risk losing to Lesnar at this stage in Lesnars career as he is just begining as how would you say if NOG did end up fighting Lesnar which could happen and NOG gets dominated by him then what NOG and all the past fighters he faced look crappy and to the MMA world it wouldnt look to good on NOG's resume to have lost to Lesnar in such the early stages of his MMA career and only being his 5th MMA fight. So NOG as i believe is dodging Lesnar and wants a fight with Randy based upon that scenario like it or dont its probably not far from the truth that NOG doesnt want to fight Lesnar at this time as its too much of a risk for him as NOG has fought top level fighters and losing to Lesnar at such an early time in his career would hurt him but also every other fighter he has faced. But NOg could beat Lesnar and then what everyone is just going to say lesnar is still very yound and inexperienced fighter that win didnt mean anything. So its a lose lose either way. Mir definetly doesnt want to fight Lesnar again but obviously will have to if it ends up that way. In other words Nog isnt afraid of Lesnar and i am sorry if you took it that way he is simply not willing to take that sort of risk and how else can you take it when he states that he wants to fight Randy and not lesnar. Come one the guy is avoiding him any other top level fighter would say something like it doesnt matter who i face

  26. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 3:29 am

It doesnt matter who i face but i would rather fight So and so cause i belive ti would make for an interesting fight or something like it…that sounds better than i want to fight Randy and not Lesnar.

  27. roy

    September 17, 2008 at 3:54 am

i disagree tim, nog is in no way dodging lesnar. of course he would rather fight randy, randy is the champ and has a big name but your dead wrong about him worried about fighting someone early in there career and what it would do to his resume he fought fedor and sapp when they where both pretty new to the sport nog has never been submitted or stopped in a fight there is a saying about him Nog dosen't lose fights he just runs out of time.

  28. TIM

    September 17, 2008 at 4:17 am

I see your point but why then does NOG say he doesnt want to fight Lesnar…honestly i think NOG would beat Randy and NOG knows that but i believe NOG knows he will have a very hard time in trying to beat Lesnar. In any case we need to first see who wins UFC 91 and 92 and then we can really discuss matters because upon until then right now things are just talk and opinions and only NOG knows why he said he doesnt want to fight Lesnar but we do know that MIR flat out said after his match that he hopes he never has to fight Lesnar again.

  29. roy

    September 17, 2008 at 4:32 am

i don't think that he dosen't want to fight lesnar or that he said that, he said he wants to fight randy and that fight makes alot more sense. nog has the interim hw belt and randy is still called the ufc champ of course thats who he is going to want to fight plus nog was the pride champ and always a top 3 hw and randy was a long time champ at the ufc and highly ranked that fight just makes more sense it has nothing to do with be afraid of lesnar i guaranty nog has no fear of lesnar and see's him as the easier fight.if lesnar can get past randy hopefully we will see that fight.

  30. Tim

    September 17, 2008 at 4:40 am

We will just have to wait and see and Lesnar winning would not surprise me Randy winning will. Seriously how can you say that a NOG vs Lesnar fight would be easier for him? Stop looking at Randy's experience for once and look at the facts…fact being Lesnar is far better in every catogory and has Randy beat except his minimal sub skills given he may have faster hands but seriously lesnar would pose as more of a threat and challenge than Randy would to NOG.

  31. roy

    September 17, 2008 at 4:51 am

styles make fights tim, i am not looking at randy being randy like you say or his experience but i think you are far to high on lesnar-remember styles make fights tim nog would have a easier fight with with lesnar than randy and will probally beat them both.i don't know why you keep saying to not look at randy's experience its part of the game plus i told you a numbners of times i am leaning toward lesnar in the fight just not as hard as you i got it about 60-40 for lesnar but trust me it would be no surprise to see randy beat him.mma is all about skill over power but lesnar does have plenty of both, skill mostly in wrestling though may not be enough.

  32. Tim

    September 17, 2008 at 5:06 am

My point with his experience is Randy has always shocked us all and has beaten bigger opponents but Lesnar is not the typical opponent and wrestling skills especially at the caliber as lesnars will be huge in every fight look at how easily he took MIR down and Herring, look how he rocked and knocked them down with one punch, see how fast and agile he is for being 280lbs of pretty much pure muscle. Take all of Randy's experience and skills and Lesnar can match them all but his MMA experience but what are you really looking at when you say Randy Style wil beat Lesnar…what his clinch and throw punches or his takedowns…hmm realisticlly i dont think Randy can clinch with a man that he wont even be able to get his arms around or be able to control him strength wise and as far as takedowns go well he could take him down but unlikely but how can he keep a 280lb machine like Lesnar who will have 50lbs of muscle on him and over match him strength and speed wise be able to control him on the ground or in the clinch and as far as standing goes sure Randy may be faster but can he match punch to punch with lesnar take his punches..i dont think so as lesnar has showed in hislast to 2fights. Seriously i dont see Randy be able to contain lesnar in any way that lesnar can not get out of except by submission as all the experience in the world will not help Randy or anyone when you are overmatch that much even if the fighter has only in his 4th fight, i see the fight more as 80-20.

  33. Tim

    September 17, 2008 at 5:13 am

i mean no disrespect to anyone here or Randy but he is far more overmatched but due to the fact anything can happen you have to give Randy a chance. But i honestly dont see how Randy is going to be able to contain and CONTROL Lesnar he is just to Fast, Strong and agile and his wrestling ability is awesome and his punches are very powerful and fast for a man of his size. Remember Herring said where the hell did that Right hand come from? he never saw it coming. It should be a great fight and i cant wait and whoever wins props to them but as i said i have it 80-20 lesnar but that dont matter we will have to wait and see come Nov 15th.

  35. roy

    September 17, 2008 at 5:53 am

no disrespect ever taken tim, i give you shit sometimes but you always take it like a man and when i said styles make fights i was referring to nog vs lesnar, although again styles come in to play with lesnar vs randy only in a negative way, thats why i have lesnar ahead of randy because they have similiar skill sets only lesnar is younger and stronger so it plays against randy if it where a different top 5 hw i wouldn't give lesnar the advantage.

  36. Tim

    September 17, 2008 at 7:07 am

I see your perspective on things and i respect your opinion but even at this time in Lesnar's career i believe any HWGHT is going to have a hard time beating him no matter who they are…you have to give the respect to Lesnars ability and skills he has but what is scarry is he has not reached his full potential and needs to develope his overall skills alot more and it is going to be fun to watch him grow as a fighter in the coming years. I am not saying at this time he will beat all top fighters i am merly saying he is a threat to all even at this stage in his career and that is scarry.

  37. Tim

    September 17, 2008 at 7:08 am

But yes your right at this point in his career any other top fighter would have the advantage.

  38. meme

    September 18, 2008 at 5:16 am

I love how you say randy has limited submission skills. He has fought in purly submision grappling matches against some of the best and gone to a draw. I think you underestimate his knowledge in bjj just because he is more known for gnp style fighting

  39. Tim

    September 18, 2008 at 5:54 am

Grappling style Subs matches are way different from an MMA match there is alot more involved and you cant just go for a submission…you could get lucky though but the approach to each are far different as in the Sub/grappling match your going for pur subs so your mindset isnt focused on the other factors such as punches and knees etc coming at me and defending them its purelty just wrestling with submissions. MMA fight if you had that mentality you would lose and my point being he may have stood with the best in a Grappling /subs match but he has miminal sub skills in a MMA match to lock them on. He is no MIR or NOG that pose a huge threat to Submissions that is my point so if you dont have the skill set of MIR or NOG or any BJJ expert by way of Subs than yes you have minimal Sub skills thats just a fact as you really cant say he has Sub skills thats too plain as you have to describe them are they top notch, lower class or mediocre/minimal or are they BJJ expert skills. So for Randy i put him in the Sub class of minimal skills i didnt say he had a lack of knowledge in Submission i clearly stated he has Minimal skills which states if you read it…he has some submission skills but not nearly the caliber of an expert.

  40. Tim

    September 18, 2008 at 5:58 am

So i guess in other words and to correcty myself YES he does have a lack of knowledge /Applying when it comes to Subs in an MMA style match. We can go on and on back and forth but the fact is that Randy couture is not a sub expert so therefore he has a lack of knowledge in Submissions…he is no BJJ expert like MIR or NOG who have shown the world how capable they are of applying them in MMA matches and not just Guillotine or rear naked chokes cause those are too damn easy.

Im just trying to rial ya up a bit :). I'm looking forward to this fight and personally don't think it will be one sided and quite the back and forth battle. Nobody has a crystal ball…..Lesner is Huge and STRONG and will not be an easy fight. Couture has an uncanny ability to pick fights and has called them with amazing accuracy…I think he can see weekness in anybodys game. Weather he has enough in the tank to pull out another win is the question. It will be very hard to deal with the size/strength advantage…no argument from me…..but he is very good at what he does and will never count him out. I'll give you your opinion :) and keep mine. :)

All is good and i always respect the opinions of others i just may not agree with them. It will be a tough match for both fighters but Lesnar definetly has the edge factor going for him i dont think i need to explain any further on that.

    October 27, 2008 at 1:56 pm

I cant believe this many of you think that les has such a big advantage over a skilled and experienced fighter like Randy. If size was everything in this game, then SAP would be the champ….or an equiv. of SAP. There has never been a dominant champ in the history of MMA who held his title due to his strength and size….skill is often more important. Look at the greatest fighter in the world (Fedor) and how he beats down every single MACK truck that comes his way. I hontely think Randy will win, but its MMA and anything is possible. BUT even if Randy doesn't win…..you can't give that much advantage to Les….thats just silly.

can we all atleast agree that this fight could possible go either way? saying either fighter doesnt have a chance is ignorant. brock is huge, fast, and super athletic and because of such he should never be counted out. randy is known for crazy upset wins and i wouldnt bet against him either.

Anything can happen it can go either way but you obviously dont know Lesnars skills…the difference with this fight is simply the fact the Randy skills where is normally better than his opponents at is overmatched in this one as Brock is the better wrestler as when your wrestling at 280 and as strong and fast and powerfull against a 225 man i am sorry but the 225 man doesnt really have much of a chance if that so Randy is limited in that area. This is a fact Brock is 6'3 will be 280 come fight time Randy is 6'1 and will be 225 come fight time Brock is much much stronger and powerfull and is no SAPP, Sapp is huge but not nearly as quick or has the background Lesnar has. You see Randy is in for a very hard fought win if he does win as this will be the first time he has ever faced a man like Lesnar…and vice versa this fight should be great but i see Brock winning due to his superior overall skills that overmatch Randys and the only thing Randy has in his favor is as edge wise is experience and subs. So honestly dont be so far fecthed that Randy is going to win hands down as i am not with Lesnar. Fedor fights pretty much nobodies escept for his few fights against top opponents but yes Fedor is really good. You have to understand that brock is just not another SAPP really look into this fight and look at the Skills of each fighter and you will find out that Brock really does overmatch Randy but as stated before never count out a legend and therefore anything can happen but i predict that Lesnar will win and this will be the passing of the torch from former wrestler turned MMA legend to new MMA rookie wrestler who is going to be a legend in MMA….but we will have to wait a few more weeks to fing out, its going to be great.
