what a night .. enjoyed watching Ganzaga get dropped that was cool ..Rampage walked Jardine down pretty much he looked scared most of the fight they both looked tired in the middle of the second round ..can't wait to see what he does to Evans ..you'll see him run the whole fight too ..and Kendall Grove i hate the grave digger thing he does what an ass ..and i still have a hard time liking Matt Hamill for some reason …i never thought Pete Sell was much anyway too much like Matt Serra ij my book

Nope, just saw they replaced Rashad vs. Rampage on May 23rd for the Lesnar/Mir bout

I actually think Rampage looked like absolute shit in this fight and if he fights like that, Evans will drop him in the first. You gotta decide which will win it, Rashad's speed or Rampage's strength. I think the speed will be too much for him.

I disagree with you Ryan S. I believe Rampage looked great. He had great defense for most of Jardine's awkward strikes, except for some of the leg kicks. I believe he did great. Jardine really makes you do that: throw you off of your game. Keith's awkwardness makes you change it up a bit and i believe rampage did great. He didn't get hit as most people would. I think this was a first time that Jardine's opponent didn't get rocked.

The undercards were great. Carwin's got a skull made of metal. HAHAHA. This fight emphasized much on how much power Carwin's got. Gonzaga's a tough mofo but got KTFO by a short punch of Carwin. I'm not that impressed with Matt Brown though. The fight just showed how unintelligent Pete Sell is. Brown swung wildly and Sell just kept coming forward like a dinkus when he should have been bobbing his head after seeing Brown swinging like a monkeh. I was impressed with Vera however. First time he looked hungry as hell. He put on a Muay Thai clinic. Watch out for him. He's freakin focused and he looks fuckin scary. :D

I think Jardine deserves some respect. He may have lost, but he stuck to his game plan and he did very well. He did way better than what most people were expecting. My hats off to Jardine for a great performance and fight of the night.

everytime vera beats a nobody everybody starts talking about how he is back and how he's the next big thing. i like brandon but im not gunna start singing his praises until he beats a real fighter in the 205 division.

    March 8, 2009 at 6:38 am

but im glad vera did what he was supposed to so that he doesnt get cut from the ufc i enjoy watching him fight.

    March 8, 2009 at 8:56 am

I disagree Tom, I don't think Jardine was winning the fight before the take downs and the last 10 sec. Rampage rocked him several times through out the fight. Jardine never rocked Rampage, he did put on 1 flury that backed him up and made him lose his footing a bit but Rampage had that whole fight in the bag. Rashad's opinion was obviously bias!

how bout matt hammil head kick ko nice one matt but i know everyone is gonna disagree with me on this but everyone is talking about carwin saying he has a steal jaw and stuff but i dont think carwins jaw is all its cracked up to be not taking anything away from him cos his power is is awsome and the win was impressive but he was rocked by gabe and if gabe didnt go for the clinch and hit him with a few more big shots carwin looked like he could ov been ko'd just my oppinion but i dont wanna take anything from the guy respect to any fighter who takes a big shot off gabe and regroups

Agreed on Vera, he needs to be more consistent if he wants to be considered legit. Personally I also thought Rampage and Jardine both looked really gassed. I think page should let Lyoto and rashad go at it and fight the winner of that. Carwin and Gonzo didnt disappoint but I thought there were a few different points where that fight was gonna end cause they both had wobbly knees a few times. Hamil looked good I think they need to put him in there with a contender to see what he can do. I also agreed that I could do without all the theatrics after Groves fights. I am not sure why they didn't stop the fight after sell was out on his feet for about a minute, you could tell Brown actually felt bad. Maynard looked tough and controlled the whole fight. I am starting to think that if the main event is not a title fight it needs to be five rounds. If that fight goes one more round somebody was going to win it, they were both done.

good marketing w/rashad talking his ish. hope rampage's predictability doesnt condemn him against rashad's bitch ass! though i have a tough time seeing rashad losing anytime soon. wanted to see gonzaga in title fight, but now i would really love to see carwin vs brock. glad vera, grove, hamil, and brown won. that kid tamden mcrory is pretty slick. shane nelson put it down too. wish i could've seen that. (where can i watch??) go shogun!

Hell yeah baby Matt Hamill came out to the baddest intro song he could have. The jersey and the KO couldnt have made me happier. Way to go Hammer. Ok now on to the co main event. I see it a lot different than most of you. As you guys see it that Carwin looked good. I think Gonzaga is a much better fighter and got way over confident and got caught becuase of it. Gonzaga was winning the stand up and evertime he glanced Carwins big so called head of metal it looked like he got rocked. If gonzaga would have swung at him when he had him rocked and off balence I think he would have ko'd him but he went for the takedown instead. Carwins chin looks very iffy. I cant wait till the next person chin checks him and he fails the test. He will be put to sleep soon. I just got a feeling. Now onto the main event. Rampage did the same thing he did in the forrest Griffin fight in about 3 of the rounds he just isnt very active. But Jardine coiuld never get a rythm going and it showed. His leg kicks were whack as hell and neither fighter looked sharp at all. Kudos to Jardine for not getting knocked out but in no way was he winning the fight. He didnt land hardly anything. Rampage will need to come in a lot sharper and he will when he fights Rashad. This was his fight coming off his HUGE win over Wanderlei. So of course he wasnt going to train as hard but I expect to see a badass top of his game Rampage when he goes in to fight Rashad. Now I can guarantee that shit wont last all 5. They are gona swing for the fences and im loving it already. If shogun destroys chuck at ufc 97 and rampage wins at ufc 98 then wouldnt it be something to see the rematch for the title? I just hope the old in shape shogun shows up. If so Chuck doesnt have a chance. Of course this would be looking past Machida for a title shot but I think Machida could fight again in between these fights.

i have to agree with you on that song bro ,but a better one may have been dead skin mask ( slayer), or maybe binge and purge (clutch), but that is one bad ass song and i love danzig! Now the carwin fight. I was most impressed with was that he could come back from almost being knocked out and not only stay awake but get off the ground when gonzaga had him on his back to me that in itself is very impressive. Gonzaga is a bjj champ so to be able to get him off you is great and they were both not very sweety so that isnt an excuse. To the main event Jardine is a weird fighter and rampage always has trouble with those leg kicks so i figured this fight was gonna go this way and i dont think he took jardine to seriously because of the way silva destroyed him, but now he is passed that he wont be taking rashad so litely. I dont think chuck will have a tough time against shogun because his stamina has been suspect in his last 2 fights and thats one thing you never have to worry about chuck is his stamina. To be totally honest rampage shouldnt even have the first shot at rashad it should be Machida he hasnt lost any fights and he has beaten alot of people that fight like Rashad i think Dana is scared to give him a shot because rashad talks more shit and for some reason people like it when fighters do that Machida has to much respect for his opponents and dosent do that shit. These are all my opinions and if you dont like them piss off!

  27. jimmy

    March 9, 2009 at 3:21 am

To say rampage dosent have speed just ask anyone who ate one of those hooks and im sure they will tell you just how fast they are. The real question should be can rashad keep his unbeaten record out of his head when he fights against rampage? There will be a time when rashad losses there is way to much talent in the light heavyweight division for him not to lose but time will tell.

On another note ive been meaningt to talk about if anderson silva is so bad and he was willing to hop up to light heavyweight to fight james irving why dont they give him a shot at the light heavyweight title intead of putting him against thales leites? He is supposed to be the best pound for pound fighter and he was willing to fight a bum at 205 why not put him against his cousin or rashad that seems like a better way to prove your the best pound for pound fighter not by fighting bums. This is also my opinion if you dont like it piss off again!

i agree steve jardine did good but was not winning, gabe looked like he could have won if he did not clinch but props to carwin for taking some shots and being able to ko him instead.i don't know if i would call his chin iffy though, he deffinetly got rocked but gabe hits hard so i think most guys would have been out, he can be ko'ed though and another punch and i think he would have been.and i agee with dane on vera one win over a bum dosn't say alot but he did look in good shape and did what he was supposed to do.

    March 9, 2009 at 4:55 am

I ddidnt see this card but from what i hear Jackson clearly won and Carwin showed promise as a legit contender but Gabe had him on the verge of losing but he took some hard shots and came out the winner. i dont like Carwin all to much but he earned my respect for KO Gabe lets see how well he does on his next opponents which should be Kongo or Cain.

  30. roy

    March 9, 2009 at 5:19 am

i don't think jackson looked great but he won, and yeah carwin should be in the big leagues now no more easy fights. i think any of the top wrestlers carwin, lesnar and cain will kill kongo, the only reason he is mentioned for the title is because they don't have alot of options but he will not match up well with these guys, he lost to heath and what won one fight since then?

  31. Al

    March 9, 2009 at 5:24 am

He's won two fights since then…and he's 6-2 in the octagon, which is eh…not anything spectacular but he's one of the best in a not so great division so…but yea carwin or cain should battle kongo to see who gets on top and then battle the other guy to see who fights mir/lesnar next…i love the HW's, just need more quality guys…cough fedor cough.

  32. roy

    March 9, 2009 at 5:31 am

yeah al, i am not saying he sucks he is good but i just don't think he has the skill set to beat these tough wrestlers, you gonna need more than stand up to beat these guys.

  33. Tim

    March 9, 2009 at 6:41 am

Exactly…but what kinda irrates me is that they say that Carwin is the same as Lesnar come size wise and overall athletic gifts which i believe is somwhat true but way overboard as well. apparently as they sae saying both Men wear a size 4XL gloves and that Carwin has the same strength and speed as Lesnar. I am not going to get into it here but i disagree as Lesnar is much stronger than Carwin is and faster and he weighs more even though i know Carwin is listed at 265 lesnar cuts to that and is at 280 fight time and is just an overall larger athlete. They will eventually fight but not this year and when it does it should be great one, Carwin is slowly growing on me but Most wrestlers do.

Jackson should take the fight in May with Rashad one reason is that if he doesnt he is still next in line for the shot but he has to wait at least another 7 months from now to get that shot if he passes on this one sure he has fought twice in just 3months but its a win win for him, as currently he is still in shape and can take a week off or so and get back to training camp for May which gives him about 7-9 weeks of training before the fight.

  34. roy

    March 9, 2009 at 7:08 am

yeah tim carwin won me over a bit in that fight he showed some heart and won but i think gabe is the better fighter overall and if they fought 10 times gabe wins the majoriety of them, but carwin does have a good chin and great power that could knock out anyone and he throws a great punch nice and straight.

  35. Tim

    March 9, 2009 at 7:28 am

Yeah i know i was just watching the fight on you tube, its seems gabe had him and than he got up and through that text book straight right hand and caught him square on the side of the chin. But lets see how he does against a fellow wrestler and big man in Cain and lesnar as well as some more respectul competition as in Herring, Kongo, Nog, Couture etc…as of now he has earned my respect for deserving to be here and he can fight but i still need to see some more quality wins from him as kinda how i was with Lesnar even though i was a fan i wanted him to be tested and he was in all 3 of his fights in the UFC so far. The next 2 years is going to get real interesting for the HWGHT division if all stay healthy.

  36. roy

    March 9, 2009 at 7:37 am

yeah its going to be something watching these huge guys go at it, the thing is most of these fights might end in the first with who ever lands first, i would love to see cain lesnar carwin go to the ground for a round or 2 just to see how they do against each other.

  37. Tim

    March 9, 2009 at 7:59 am

Yeah if any of those men fought it would likely be a stand up battlle for the first round with some attempts on takedowns and then round 2 will be more of the same but takedowns yeah i hate to say it but if those men fight as exciting as it might be it might not even be to exciting but thats MMA for you.

  38. Ryan S

    March 9, 2009 at 10:37 am

Rubs- don't get me wrong, I like Rampage, I just think the speed will get him. I don't like Jardine's style though. Everyone says its awkward or unorthadox, but I think it is just sloppy and looks like shit. Using shoulder rotation is not a good method of punching for injury's sake. I agree about Carwin though. I think he could make a good opponent for Lesnar.

  39. David

    March 9, 2009 at 3:50 pm

I agree with most of you on carwin. The guy has the heart of a champ, coming back and knocking gabe out. I'm anxious to see if he can keep this up. Someone asked why Anderson Silva won't fight the light HW champ for the belt. Well from what Silva said, the belt belongs to his friend Machida. So he won't compete with his friend for that belt.

Although Rampage won, I wasn't impressed with his performance. Yeah Jardine has a unique style and makes his opponent look bad but he also has a suspect chin which is probably the reason why they set him up with Rampage after his KO win against Wanderlei. The whole time I'm thinking, Jardine is gonna get knocked out once he gets caught. But I actually walked away having more respect for Jardine for not getting Knocked out. Yeah he got rocked a few times but he didn't give up. After watching Rampage fight, it just solidified by opinion that Machida deserves it more than Rampage. But at least Rampage is fighting Rashad in two months, so it really isn't that bad for Machida, but we'll just have to wait and see.

  40. steve

    March 9, 2009 at 3:53 pm

Tim I agree if they fight it could be boring if one guy can lay on the other. It would be most fun to see them stand and bang for the KO showing who the real badass is as one is standing and the other is asking what happened. Now thats what i want to see frok the heavies.
